The Cottage promises an idyllic retreat for all seasons.
Dating back to 1850, Wharton Cottage exudes timeless elegance, having been meticulously renovated to a luxurious standard by its devoted owners. The cottage seamlessly blends historic charm with contemporary sophistication, providing a stylish and inviting ambiance throughout.
Stepping inside, you'll find three bedrooms that host two double beds and a regal king-size bed, it comfortably accommodates family and friends for a tranquil stay. Along with a shared family bathroom, adorned with BathHouse products. Downstairs, a convenient family bathroom awaits, boasting a sink, toilet, bath with shower mixer tap, and a towel radiator, while upstairs, another bathroom offers added comfort with a toilet, sink, shower, and towel radiator.
Parking is hassle-free with several free spaces available nearby, or the option of a public car park at Cartmel Racecourse, just a brief stroll from the property.
Wharton Cottage serves as an ideal base for exploring Cartmel's treasures, including the renowned 3-star Michelin restaurant, L'Enclume, and a plethora of other Michelin-starred dining experiences within the vicinity. Additionally, guests enjoy doorstep access to Cartmel Racecourse, Britain's smallest National Hunt circuit, adding a touch of excitement to the stay.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the house, on street parking and a delightful welcome hamper. We respectfully request that you leave your furry friends behind for this particular trip, as this is a pet free property.
The lockbox code is provided to you via text and email prior to arrival.
When guests stay during periods that the Cartmel Races are active, a village access pass is provided and can be found in the cottage upon arrival.
The Neighborhood:
Cartmel is often held to be the quaintest of all Lakeland villages with its cobbled pavements, medieval arch, heritage buildings, delightful stream-side walks and 12th-century Priory; a captivating destination that entices visitors with its charm and natural beauty.
Immerse yourself in the atmosphere and indulge in the array of charming shops, four traditional pubs and Simon Rogan's renowned Michelin starred restaurants: a treat for food enthusiasts. There’s a wine snug, microbrewery and cheese shop all gathered around a lovely courtyard space often featuring live music and pizzas on summer weekends. And with the famous national hunt racecourse just steps away, you can soak up the excitement of nine race days a year and enjoy fun-filled days out.
There are many other attractions nearby: Levens Hall, Sizergh Castle and Holker Hall -each with a spectacular garden. There’s the Campbell Bluebird exhibition, the Lakeland Motor Museum and of course Lake Windermere (with breath-taking views and activities for outdoor enthusiasts); all are within 15 minutes’ drive.
Getting Around:
The nearest bus stop is the Clogger Beck stop, a short walk through the village and the services you should view for the needed timetables are the 530, 531, and 532 bus routes.
Local taxis operate in the area, we always recommend making a pre-booking. The nearest train stations are Grange Over Sands and Cark; from either, Wharton House Mews is approximately a 10 minutes’ drive.
