"Most of Grand Lucayan is closed from hurricane Mathew but you don't know this until you arrive. All guests have to stay at Lighthouse point which is nice but with not nearly as many amenities. 2 less pools , less convenient dining options, the Casino never reopened. Some of the staff, outdoor bar. Towel hut, seemed to have lost that happy, helpful, attitude, one bartender was even rude everyday. While others were their usual respectful, helpful Bahamian spirit They hours of restaurants...

"Other reviews have criticized the food but we found the quality excellent. The dining options are limited but we knew that it would be buffet style. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The resort is needs some TLC but most places beat by sun and salt do. We would definitely stay there again. "

"The 3 pools onsite at the Pelican are small but nice. The restaurant at the pool was convenient and delicious. The staff is very nice and helpful. You have to take the free ferry (or shuttle) to Taino Beach and this is where you find the fun slide, and swim up cave bar that you see in some of the pictures. We really enjoyed this pool. Would def recommend, especially for a family of five bc the room was big enough and they brought a cot for small fee. "
