Chez Cay consists of two adjacent buildings. The larger building has a spacious living and dining area with ocean views, and a full well stocked kitchen with electric cook top, oven, dishwasher, big refrigerator and freezer, and a washer & dryer. There is also a sleeping loft with a queen mattress accessible by ladder. This building has one half bath and new air conditioner.

The second building, right next door, contains two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed and air conditioner. There is also a smaller bedroom with twin beds and air conditioner. This building also has one full bath in the master bedroom.

Amenities at Chez Cay includes superfast Starlink WIFI, washer/dryer, AC in all rooms, and a large outdoor shower.

Beautiful views , sunset!
Great location, beautiful sunset . The loft has a steep ladder, so it’s fine for teenagers or physically fit adults. Kitchen is well equipped. Great communication the owner and caretaker.

Perfect
Wayne was fantastic with communication and made sure we had everything we need. Scott and Erica the caretakers of the property came and check on us and gave us bait for fishing. The location is close to everything but very private. The view was amazing. The best fishing and snorkeling is right off the dock. Rented a car from Edgar. They really made sure we were taken care off. You need to understand eluthera. It’s not for everyone. Chez Cay was perfect for us and already planning on returning. Thank you Wayne, Alonza, Scott and Erica

Outstanding rental
Chez Cay is two structures right on the water. One cottage is a living, dining and kitchen with a loft. The other has a master bedroom and small room with two twin beds. The home had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay and the view is breathtaking. The owner answered all of our questions and provided a lot of helpful information about the island. We would definitely stay again!

Great Governors Harbour House
Just returned from an 8 day vacation at Chez Cay on our 3rd trip to Eleuthera. The location is excellent and very close to Governor's Harbour. We enjoyed great swimming and snorkeling right in front of the house. The water access was very easy, even with the paddleboards we traveled with. In past trips we have had great sunsets and stargazing, but the skies were mostly overcast during our trip otherwise the deck would have been a perfect spot. The house was very clean, there was an abundance of linens and towels, and the kitchen was very well stocked. There is one other house nearby but there was no one there during our stay and the landscaping provides some privacy if there was someone there. We were fortunate to make it to Lighthouse Beach before construction begins and enjoyed a number of other great beaches on Eleuthera during our trip. We have stayed in the Governor's Harbour area the last two trips because of its central location and amenities like the fish market, grocery stores and restaurants. The owner was very responsive before and during our trip and provided detailed information on the home and the island prior to our arrival. I would definitely recommend this house for anyone considering a trip to Eleuthera.

Family Christmas in the Bahamas
We loved our stay at this wonderful house! It was everything we were hoping for. Close enough to town but secluded enough for privacy. We loved sitting on the deck at the edge of the water having cocktails and watching the sunset every evening. The sunsets were amazing! The stars at night are so bright and amazing! The house sleeps 6 but is perfect for 4 or 5. Our family of 6 had no problems with the sleeping options. The kitchen is stocked well for cooking. The living room and dining areas are comfortable. The wireless internet worked great. There is not a Television in the house but we liked that! If I had to come up with a suggestion it would be to add additional lighting in the living room. Other than that We loved it and would highly recommend staying here. We will be back for sure! The Island of Eleuthera is amazingly beautiful. What a treasure.

Quiet hide away
This property looks exactly as advertised. It has gorgeous views, especially from the main bedroom. It is clean and well stocked / organised. We thought a car was necessary to explore the island and it makes shopping etc easier, as it is a bit of a walk along the road into town. Wayne was helpful in advising us before our arrival. We were a little unlucky with the weather, so could not snorkel etc from the house / dock ( sadly) , but it looked gorgeous!

Wonderful vacation in a beautiful spot
We spent an amazing week at Chez Cay! The house is located on the water with a dock and an outdoor shower that is completely private and views the Caribbean. Wayne is a responsive and helpful host who shared all necessary info with us well before our stay including not just house details but also points of interest, where to shop and where to dine. He also helped us figure out the best way to get to the island. We rented a car from his caretaker Edgar, who along with his grandson, met us at the airport and took us to the house and explained how to navigate the island. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in a remote area with the beautiful beaches, Eleuthra is it. If you want a house with privacy, on the water and centrally located, Chez Cay is the place. Thank you Wayne. We had a fabulous time and hope to return!

Our favorite snorkeling experience!
Our stay at Chez Cay was lovely! The view from the windows and the dock was incredible. We couldn’t believe how turquoise and clear the water was. One of my favorite memories was snorkeling off the dock with my father - we saw rays, bright starfish, and lots of fish! And rinsing off in the outdoor shower after a swim is heavenly. The kitchen is great for meal prep. We did a few dinners and breakfasts at the house, and it had exactly what we needed. We did have to get a bit creative with the sleeping arrangements since we were there with my parents (who would have some trouble going up and down to a sleeping loft) and an infant, so just keep that in mind. My parents took the master bedroom with the queen bed, and we used the loft. The sleeping arrangements would be best for one couple to take the master, and some older kids who would be excited to sleep in the loft. All in all, a great stay at a central location!

We loved this compact, Bahamian VRBO!
The two buildings with connecting decks are totally marvelous. The main space has a very functional kitchen with enough utensils to prepare nearly anything. Never used the air conditioning because we used the shades during the day and the ceiling fans whenever we were there. We felt completely safe. The outdoor shower is second best to the sound of Caribbean water lapping at the shore (tough to decide on favorite aspects). The owner is cordial and fastidious about details and following up. The Island Farm, south of Governor’s Harbour, has great fresh vegetables. Bacchus filled in with other fresh vegetables. Don’t miss Tippy’s or Club Med Beach. We highly recommend this VRBO!

A Peaceful, Quiet Escape
Extraordinary! Secluded and quiet, what more could you ask for. Chez Cay will not be for everyone but if you are looking to escape a busy life this is your place. The main building has a well equipped kitchen, living room/dining room, half bath, and a loft. The windows allow a great breeze. The smaller separate building is a bedroom and bathroom that ARE air conditioned, it was only recently installed. There is an outside shower and a deck that extends to the water. Bring your gear and down a short ladder you can snorkel in the crystal clear Caribbean. We spent the last week of August here and never saw a single person unless we drove back down the dirt driveway to the main road. No tv, just wifi and Spotify with some Hawaiian music playing, we read quite a few books. A great escape from life's busyness. The owner is quick to respond and has a great deal of good information to share. We rented a car from the property manager Edgar, his grandson Alonso met us at the airport and gave us a short tour so we knew our way around the settlement of Governor's Harbor. Erika, the housekeeper also checked on us and offered to answer any questions. Erika is wonderful, there were fresh flowers in every room when we arrived. You can find most anything you need in Governor's Harbor, about a mile away. Take some cash and don't miss the Friday Night Fish Fry, Tippy's-especially when the band is playing, go for a walk on French Leave Beach-beautiful, and if you are adventurous check out the remains of Club Med. One of the most relaxing vacations we have ever been on, I would absolutely go again.

Splendid
Chez Cay was the perfect place for me and my new potcake rescue dog, Henry. Dog friendly, but so easy to keep clean and manage. The design and layout of Chey Cay shows thought and care. Everything you need from a giant frying pan to beach towels is there. Its proximity to Governor's Harbour makes sure you are never far from anything you need, French Leave Beach and great eating. The house is at the end of the road, so yes, there is no one to care if you're wearing much at all. The swimming off the rocks is lovely, with great snorkeling. Edgar met me at the airport and I rented his car for a week. He ensured I knew all the basics. Erica, the housekeeper stopped by for a visit and she's terrific, and just down the road if you need her. I will remember my time on Eleuthera at Chez Cay with great affection.

Couldn't be better!
Our two week stay was perfect in every way. Chez Cay, which features separate sleeping quarters from the living/dining area, is well-situated both for privacy and seclusion but also an easy trip (by car) to nearby Governor’s Harbor. We are 2 writers who seek quiet getaways with occasional diversions; this property was ideal. It’s unusually well-equipped (we were thankful for the kitchen supplied with good knives, a French press coffeepot, and some cookware not coated with Teflon!) comfortable, and in a stunningly beautiful location. We appreciated the roomy outdoor shower, spacious dock area for relaxing, swimming and sunset watching; and the peacefulness and safe feeling of the whole property and community. Arthur's taxi met us at the airport, and we then rented a car from Edgar who gave us great tips, including about driving "next to the bush," on the left. Erika welcomed us warmly, had added beautiful touches to the house, and eased the transition on departure. From our first contact with Wayne, the owner, he was prompt and full of useful information. He is helpful and attentive in every way. We especially loved buying fish and lobsters and conch from the fishermen at the dock, fresh produce from Island Farm, walking at Leon Levy Reserve, and a fun night out at Rainbow Inn – half an hour drive, but worth it for pizza night and live music. Can’t wait to go back!

Wonderful!
We spent a week here over winter break and were reluctant to leave. The cottage is wonderful, with the stars seeming to float through the windows on a clear night and with privacy and solitude though also close to town and stores. The kitchen is great, with everything you need to cook. We loved sitting on the deck and on the dock in the lounge chairs, watching the fish and sunlight as much as we loved the nearby beaches and our exploration of the island. Thank you so much for having us and for sharing this delightful cottage with us.

September Stay
We had a great stay at this rental. Wayne was very helpful and informative getting our trip organized with suggestions on transportation to the island as well as rentals. Edgar and Erica were so nice and great with any questions we had once we were at the house and making sure our stay was going alright. Being right near Governors Harbour was extremely convenient while still being secluded and right on the water. As noted in previous reviews it is not on a beach but, we very much enjoyed being able to snorkel right in front of the house and see rays and several different fish. I would remind future renters that this does not have A/C, as correctly described, and it can be a little warm during the day in September but would be perfectly fine the rest of the year.

Love and Happiness
Look no further, you have found your getaway! This cottage is a true ocean front gem and I will definitely go back! You will love the amazing snorkeling (bring your gear), a great outdoor shower and breath taking views of the Caribbean. The three living areas gives you plenty of privacy. It has a well stocked kitchen and is close to a great restaurant. You will want to rent a car because this Island has more great food and must see places. Play Al Green's song Love and Happiness when you get there:-)

Truly Magical
This was our fist trip to Eleuthera and it could not have been any better! The cottage was beautiful and just perfect! Snorkeling off the deck gave us views of things we'd only seen on TV and honestly didn't think were possible to see or experience. Fish of ever color and starfish galore, we even saw some friendly baby jellyfish and stingrays. We got fresh lobster and grouper right off the fishing boat at the boat ramp in Governors Habour and there was lots of good seasonings and a perfect pan to cook both in the cottage. The outdoor shower was a wonderful experience as well, there's just something about showering naked, outside, while looking at the Caribbean Sea! The cottage is very secluded and my husband and I took great pleasure with that, hardly wearing clothes our whole time (except when we went to town of course)! The people on the whole island are so friendly and so kind, it was a magical experience. If you're lucky enough to go, please drive about an hour north and visit the Glass Window Bridge, it was SPECTACULAR! The Sunset Inn, which is walkable, was fantastic too! I could go on forever talking about what a truly magical experience we had! Life changing really! And we CAN NOT wait to go back! Thank you Wayne & Susan, for sharing your piece of unspoiled paradise with us!

Perfect Location for our Family/Friends
This was such a lovely house! We met for a 50th Birthday get together and it was perfect! It was very private and yet so very close to stores and restaurants. Snorkeling right off the pier was extraordinary. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful vacation.

A perfect honeymoon in a magical place
It was my first trip out of the country and I can't imagine a more beautiful place for such a venture. To say it was an eye opening experience would be an understatement due to the gracious, relaxed and happy life Eleutherans abide by. We forgot about schedules and our life at home for days other than to think about how everyone would enjoy the island life. Edgar and Chico were incredible hosts as they pointed us in the direction of some beautiful beaches. We are determined to make time in the next year to visit again, because honestly Governors Harbor and the entire island infused our marriage and lives with more happiness than before. In short, thank you for all your hospitality. It was truly a perfect honeymoon in a magical place.

Peaceful Restful Hours by Water's Edge
Peaceful and restful hours by the water’s edge are what we sought and found at this secluded location just outside the charming village of Governor’s Harbour. Just yards from the cottage we could dive into a clear sea, swim or snorkel. Other times we would sit on the deck with our books, relax, talk and most importantly, unwind. There are magic times when the water becomes as still as a pond and as reflective as a mirror. It is a transfixing phenomenon and there is no other place we would want to be. The cottage, called Chez Cay, is actually two structures with picturesque views of the sea. (The on line photos are very descriptive.) The main cottage is a clean well-appointed kitchen, dining area and living room in an open plan, with a sleeping loft and half bath. Adjacent is the bedroom cottage: a master bedroom & bath and a small bedroom with two twin beds. A favorite feature of ours is the large outdoor shower between the two cottages with an open view to the sea – a perfect place to rinse off the salt water after a swim or experience a relaxing and scenic shower at the end of the day. Make a ritual of enjoying a sunset cocktail on the deck at water’s edge. It was hard to tear away from our spot by the water but, as we mostly enjoy doing our own cooking, we made shopping trips into town. Governor’s Harbour and adjacent Cupid’s Cay are enchanting. Meet the fishermen and select from their fresh catch. Ask grocery store clerks when they will have the freshest produce from supply boats. There is a bakery for fresh bread, pies and cakes. The owners & caretakers of Chez Cay will provide of tips to make your stay memorable. There are more restaurants in Governor’s Harbour than we could visit, but we had good meals at the Buccaneer Club and Sunset Inn (very close to the cottage). An authentic find is Pammy’s Take Away – breakfast and lunch only. Pick up a Breakfast Sandwich and enjoy eating it by the harbor. The weekly Friday night Fish Fry is a great local event. If the sea at the cottage is rough it is probably a good day for pink sand beaches and a beautiful turquoise ocean, just over the hill in Governor’s Harbour. Check out the Banks Road Deli and two tourist oriented restaurant bars on the beach: Tippy’s and The Beach House. There is a lot to discover in Eleuthera. Chez Cay is a perfect cottage for island adventurers, for those who prefer nesting in one place and for people who want to do a bit of both.
