This is no ordinary location! Stunning beachfront directly on the Atlantic Ocean centrally located on the tranquil, pristine, undiscovered island of Eleuthera where you are 'away from it all'! Go back to a simpler time when nature dictated your day and enveloped your senses with serenity and solitude. Your new calling is to find shells, walk the beach, swim, nap, lounge in a hammock and star gaze at the endless night sky! No cares, no worries just the sounds of the surf all around you! Cayo Loco has a new battery back up for power outages! Solar power is coming soon. We also have a back-up water system.

* Our guests say our beach is superb as it is undiscovered, lesser known and more private! After traveling to Lighthouse Beach and other beaches they prefer staying right at home at their own beach!

* Within a five minute walk on the beach, you have the best most delicious little restaurant with a small resort for dining/drinking/dancing with a pool and jacuzzi. Fabulous local entertainment! Within a short drive, there are several excellent restaurants, live music, shopping and dancing.

* Be sure to reserve Jeremy and Anna, our unparalelled knowledgeable friends/Assistant Caretakers, for your own private dinner at Cayo Loco! They'll bring everything, prepare everything, clean up and thrill you with island sip sip (gossip), folk lore and fishing stories while serving the greatest authentic Bahamian meal you will ever experience! Guaranteed to be the highlight of your stay! And they will leave you with lots to snack on! It's like dinner and a show all wrapped into one! You will have the time of your life at Cayo Loco! A vacation you will savor for the rest of your life!

CAYO LOCO, though newly built, captures the 'old' Bahamian beach house feel looking over the surf to maximize the views and ocean breezes. Step onto your gorgeous, private, crescent shaped Atlantic Ocean pink sand beach and stroll in either direction for miles. You may spend your entire visit here and never see another person on your beach. Our beach has indescribably clear turquoise water with a flat pink sand beach. It is a perfect walking swimming beach!!

No Smoking/No Children/No Pets/No Loud Music/No Open Flames as we basically have no Fire Dept.

Note: A rental car with ground clearance and good tires is required to access this beach house.

Charming Oceanfront Cottage on Beautiful and peaceful beach
My husband and I just returned from this charming cottage on a beautiful beach and if you want to really escape the chaos of everyday life this is a lovely cottage. The owners were beyond helpful from the initial inquiry through our departure.(which was quite early)...providing helpful tips all along the way. Wonderful people......very peaceful retreat....and the dolphins just off the the beach the day before we left....breathtaking...

Great Beaches & friendly people
Cayo Loco is a special retreat. Maureen and Al are caring hosts who keep two immaculate cottages for the benefit of their guests Their location is perfect; overlooking one of the best beaches on the island. The cottages sit upon a cliff which allows for fantastic sea breezes, even, on some of the hottest days. If you are looking for a somewhat rustic, private and quiet beach vacation then Cayo Loco is perfect. A. Oliver (Louisville, Colorado) Thanks!

An absolute oasis!
Our trip to Eleuthera was nothing short of amazing. It was our first trip to the island and it took only one short day for us to fall in love. Maureen and Alan were spectacular hosts! They are a wealth of information and have everything thought out to the very last detail. Thank you so much for sharing your little slice of paradise with us. We hope to see you guys again soon 😉

spectacular
We would recommend this perfect getaway location to any couple. The beach is ideal for long walks. We found the people on the island to be very hospitable. Alan & Maureen were extremely friendly & helpful. We toured the entire island during our week stay including Harbour Island to see the "pink sand" beach. Resturants are plentiful. Groceries are adequate for making your own meals, which we did frequently in the new kitchen. Having on demand hotwater is the best! We will be back-soon I hope.

Perfection
It's true....location, location, location. This perfect house right on a secluded strech of beach is a great location. It's centrally located between great restaurants, stunning beaches and a lovely little town. Maureen provided "local knowledge" about restaurants, stores and beaches that look like they're photo-shopped! In our get-away week, we went to 6 different beaches, none further than 10 miles away, and were usually the only people on the beach. We ate at great restaurants, used the local library, and enjoyed Fish Fry on Friday night. It just doesn't get better than Cayo Loco.

Slice of Paradise
My boyfriend and I had the most amazing stay at Cayo Loco! The house is absolutely adorable! It is picture perfect and there is not one detail that has been left out in the planning of this home. You can't beat the location because you are steps away from a pristine beach which you practically have to yourself. Maureen and Alan are great and were very attentive to anything we needed. They were always there to give advice on what to see or where to eat. This is definitely a place I would return. Thanks so much Maureen and Alan! :)

what more could you possibly ask for???
we stayed for week - and we couldn't' imagine a better place to relax!! the cottage is small and well appointed - everything is perfect !! right on the beach - perfectly stocked kitchen - great BR and bath....the place cools well, there is great parking, the beach is wide and white. sandy, great reefs in front - 5 minute walk to Sky Beach - 8 minutes to grocery store, gas station, French Leave beach, deli, restaurants, - not sure what anyone would want that isn't here....the owners were lovely and full of local knowledge and references....perfectly engaged and not "intrusive" as mentioned below. I much rather have an engaged and interested owner, than someone who does not care and allows decay and broken stuff in their place... you can't go wrong...

It WAS a beautiful secluded beach house!!!
Beach was beautiful - a little mind-boggling - as we walked several miles many days without seeing anyone! When it was crowded there were 4-5 people somewhere down the beach. Maureen was available for any questions & had the place perfectly tended to. Had great dinner from Anna & Jeremy and car/day tour to Lighthouse beach from Chris Darling - several of many great recommendations from Maureen. The cottage was very clean with everything we needed for two weeks. We appreciated the cooler and beach chairs we could use for visiting other beaches-although loved returning to our own secluded paradise. Eleuthera is a unique & beautiful place worth visiting. We'll be back!!

Perfect Beach House!
The Cayo Loco Beach House was exactly what we were looking for. The house had everything we needed to make our vacation perfect. Maureen was a great host. She provided a wealth of information about the house and the island before the trip and made sure we were well taken care of during our stay. The views from the house are incredible and the beach is beautiful. If you love long beach walks without seeing another person this is the spot for you. There is great sandy access from the beach for swimming and snorkeling as well. The location on the island is very convenient for exploring by car. Being in the central part of Eleuthera we were able to see the sights north or south and still be "home" in time for happy hour on the covered porch. There are plenty of restaurants within a short drive and the stores in Governor's Harbour had everything we needed. For a true "Out Island" experience Eleuthera and Cayo Loco are a combination hard to beat!

Paradise off the Grid
This property is private, relaxing, and beautiful beyond words! Pastel clapboards on the oceanfront home, and deserted pink sand beach with water of the most amazing shades of turquoise make you feel like you are living in a Corona commercial! My husband and I spent our 10th anniversary here. The owners Maureen and Allen were very helpful and one of the highlights of the trip was having Anna and Jeremy cook us a Bahamian meal in our house. Other highlights were sea glass hunting, walking down the beach to the Sky Beach club-Sammy the bartender and Tino were our favorites-best key lime pie- and many meals at Tippy's . The owner of Tippy's- Elliot is who we rented our car from and he even thru in a couple of Tippy's special sunset rum drinks! Be sure to book a trip to the Schooner cays-an adventure of a lifetime! But the best part of the trip was sitting on the front porch of Cayo Loco listening to the waves and enjoying the perfect breeze and beautiful water - no need to ever leave your home!

The perfect Eleutheran retreat!
My husband and I loved our stay at Cayo Loco! The adorable pastel cottage was the perfect compliment to the sea foam green beach below, accessible by stairs next to the residence. Maureen is so sweet and provided everything we needed in the house, and even took some beautiful photos of us on the beach! There are two rental cottages next to each other, but we could NEVER hear the other guests, and due to the angle of the porches and the beautiful palm trees and agave plants between them, you can’t see each other! We hired a local couple, per Maureen’s suggestion, to come cook us a traditional Bahamian meal (conch fritters, spiny lobster, freshly caught wahoo) which I recommend doing! We tried different restaurants each night and loved all of Maureen’s suggestions. We rented a car which was very helpful so that we could get around the island easily and explore (we drove to the farthest south beach on the Caribbean side and it was paradise!), although you never get sick of the view at Cayo Loco! I highly recommend this place as a peaceful and gorgeous getaway!

Everything and More!
We stayed at Cayo Loco at the beginning of December and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in paradise. The VRBO webpage doesn't do it any justice. Its truly everything we were looking for and more. The owners are the nicest people and so accommodating. They also stay out of your way if that's what you are looking for. The beach was uninhabited while we were there and we had it all to ourselves. The resort down the beach has the best food and was also never busy. The house was perfect and had everything you would want. Be prepared for a bit of wind on the Atlantic side if you are there in December.Make sure you have a car rented if you want to go into town to get supplies. We rented bikes for a couple of days which was nice but the roads arent great and are a bit dangerous on a bike. I hope we can come back soon. :)

Perfect Beachfront Getaway!
We spent the 4 day MLK weekend at Cayo Loco and loved every minute of it. The beautiful beach, the ocean views, and the accommodations were even better than the photographs. Centrally located in Governor’s Harbour; Cayo Loco was convenient to all of the great restaurants, sites, and beaches that Eleuthera has to offer, while at the same time providing us with beautiful and private Atlantic Ocean seclusion right at our doorstep. Cayo Loco had all the amenities from home (directv, music docking station, wifi, grill, oven, full sized refrigerator, etc), making it great to at once feel “away from it all,” while still having access to all of the world’s modern amenities if we needed/wanted them. The homeowners were available at a moment’s notice to answer questions or help out with any difficulties we had during our stay, while also being respectful of our privacy. We toted their homemade guide to the island with us whenever we left the house, and the many tips and recommendations it provided were all spot on - a real "insider's" guide of what to see and do! While traveling throughout the Island we couldn’t find a single place that seemed to be as well situated on the beach, centrally located and modern as Cayo Loco. We can’t wait to return and would recommend Cayo Loco to anyone looking for a great beachfront getaway in Eleuthera.

Lovely, quiet, central location
Just returned from spending a week here and it was a delight. The property is extremely well maintained. The view is breath taking. The house has everything you need to be comfortable. It is really quiet and secluded. It is in a great location to explore the entire island and is easily accessible. Being close to Governor's Harbour it was helpful for meals and grocery. But it is also great for day trips north or south. We explored a lot of the island and were always happy to come home at the end to relax. The hosts are very helpful. Listen to the advice they give, like bringing bug spray, and ask all your questions. They always answer quickly. We had a lot of difficulty with our wire transfer payment and they were patient as the bank sorted it out. When we were they they gave us privacy unless we asked for something. They were thoughtful and stocked breakfast for us the night we arrived since we arrived late and the stores were all closed on account of the holiday. Very easy to talk to, easy to work with, and have obvious pride in their paradise. Would highly recommend staying here.

Spent our anniversary in paradise . . . .
My husband & I recently stayed at Cayo Loco celebrating our 30th anniversary. We looked at many resorts on other islands but wanted to spend the week relaxing in a place that was non-touristy. We had an amazing time exploring the Eleuthera and it's many beaches. We thought the location was perfect. Very private but a quick drive into Govenors Harbour and kind of centrally located on the island. People are very friendly and the "island pace" is definitely very different from our busy everyday lives & just what we needed for our get away. Our best times were spent right at Cayo Loco. Maureen arranged everything that we needed and goes out of her way to make sure your comfortable and having a great time. On our anniversary Maureen arranged massages at the house for us and dinner prepared by Jeremy & Anna. It was wonderful & I would highly recommend! The beach at Cayo Loco is what we thought one of the best beaches on the Atlantic side of the island and just a few steps away from the house. The house is a perfect beach house for two and very clean. We slept with the house open at night and felt very safe & slept very sound. The Atlantic breeze & sound of the waves were wonderful. You have everything you need to prepare meals. However, the resort 5 minutes down the beach from the house has amazing food and you don't need to cook if you don't want to. We are looking forward to our next trip to the Bahamas & will definitely stay at Cayo Loco & have already recommeded it to friends. Mark & Tammy Adams Topeka, KS

Over The Top Fabulous!
Stunning views, immaculately clean, minimalist charm, we had everything we could ask for plus the sounds of the waves...would recommend to anyone, it could not have been more comfortable and joyful. We like to visit different places...but will certainly consider returning to this spot just because it was so perfect for us. Spent 11 days, could have stayed forever. Our only regret was that the wind was unusually strong during our stay so we did not use the beach, swim out front or make use of the paddle board or kayaks, or sit on our deck for meals. But the beauty of Eleuthera is that if it's windy on one side, good chance it's not on the other - so we spent lots of time exploring the stunning "Caribbean" side. Great snorkeling, deserted beautiful beaches. Cayo Loco supplies really nice beach chairs and towels - we took these with us everywhere, they were much appreciated! Bring a small cooler (we left one there) for lunches as who wants to leave the beach once you get there? Take Maureen up on her offer to supply coconut water - refreshing morning drink. Eleuthera itself was just our speed - have never visited the Bahamas because our impression was that they are very touristy. Not so here...Eleuthera is a true throw back in time. The local people as well as all the expats we met could not be more kind and gracious, it is one of the safer islands we have ever visited. And Cayo Loco is one of the nicest vacation homes we have ever rented. Kudos to Maureen and Alan.

Perfect home, on a perfect beach, on a perfect island!
My wife and I stayed at Cayo Loco from 4/30/16 - 5/7/16, and i'm already looking to go back. LOCATION: The home is centrally located on the island, which is perfect if you plan to explore the island and enjoy the isolated beaches. It's a 5-10 minute right from GHB airport, easy to get to (turn into Sky Beach Resort and drive towards the ocean and make a left on "Banks Rd", cay loco is 1/4 mile away). It is conveniently located near Gov Harbour which has every grocery, gas, cash and alcohol necessity. Cayo Loco has 3 homes on the property, the beach front bungalows are called Sand Dollar (where we stayed) and Apocolypso, although next to each other, the manicured vegetation makes for nice privacy HOME: Sand Dollar is neatly appointed with every amenity you need from spices, utensils, pots/pans, oven, dishwasher, ice cube trays/ice packs, wifi, satellite TV (NY stations local). Maureen is a great host and is very informative, listen to her advice; everyone on the island knows her and helps you. The locals are all kind and treat everyone nicely. The beach in front of the home is perfect, a quick walk down a flight of stairs and your on the beautiful beach which has 3 separate reefs great for snorkling. My advice to anyone is rent a durable 4x4 with sufficient ground clearance, a Jeep Wrangler is perfect. Other than Queens Highway, the roads are rough and difficult to travel but worth it, the nicest beaches are the hardest to get to. Bring strong bug repellent, we had quite a few bites but it was manageable with deet based spray. My wife and I are 32 from NJ, we wanted to "get off the grid" but have some of the conveniences of home and Cayo Loco is the perfect medium, absolutely perfect home thats well maintained by a gracious host. RESTAURANTS: Rainbow Inn on pizza night (Monday) is a must (NJ has the best pizza and I was impressed with the food). Pascals is very convenient with great food, close to Cayo Loco and they have great food. Govenours Harbour fish fry on Friday is great, everyone comes out and drinks/parties. LeoRose beachfront restaurant in James Cistern is amazing, stop there if headed north. Hiring Jeremy and Anna is worth it, they come to the home and make an amazing dinner from locally sourced food.

Beautiful,well maintained slice of heaven!!
Where to begin......My fiancee and I have been engaged for over 6 years,we both had been married before,so this time we just wanted to "run away"somewhere and finally tie the knot! After searching the internet with a few key words Cayo Loco was the first to appear on our screen! When we delved into the pictures and read all the comments we knew this was the place for us!Fortunately there was a block of time available and we booked it immediately! And our journey began!!We were finally going to get married!!So without a real plan we booked our flights and away we went! Not having a solid plan we bought some special wedding clothes, packed our favorite summer attire and were on our way!! When we arrived in Eleuthera we were astounded by it's beauty! Our first stop was getting our rental car!!What a treat because we met a most awesome guy,Chris, who provided us with wheels to tour the island!!We hit it off immediately and away we went!!When we got to Cayo Loco Maureen was there to greet us and show us our beautiful new digs for the next 8 days!!She was warm and friendly, gave us the tour of the cottage and the "do 's and don'ts" of the land and our vacation began! The cottage is beautiful, spotlessly clean and equipped with all your needs for a spectacular time!!No need to bring anything but the clothes you wear!!But the best part was the gorgeous Atlantic ocean within footsteps of the place serenading us with all it's beauty!!This was exactly what we wanted and more!!Tastefully decorated with quality stuff,we were in paradise!!Maureen hooked us up with all the people necessary to make our wedding day complete!!AND she became our photographer on our special day!It was a dream come true!A beautiful arch and walkway decorated with gorgeous flowers and palms on the beach made our day the best it could be!!A true fairy tale!Chris(the car rental guy)and Joan(pastor Dwight's wife)were our witnesses,as we fell in love with them and their true kindness and support of making our day spectacular!!Everyone on this island has a niche, making it so unique and special!Jeremy and Anna cooked us a perfect Bahamian meal on our wedding night, and Pastor Dwight's aunt made us the best German chocolate cake ever, that we enjoyed with everyone after our scrumptious meal!!The food is no joke here, all fresh produce and fish......to die for!And EVERY single person we met were so kind and helpful!!Can't wait to return to Cayo Loco!!!

Honeymoon at Cayo Loco
We stayed at the Starfish Cayo Loco house for our honeymoon at the end of June and had such an amazing time. First of all, Cayo Loco is as described! As in, YES, the views from the house are that amazing, YES, the place is that clean and tastefully decorated, YES, you are just steps from an AMAZING atlantic beach and five minute drive from a PERFECT Caribbean beach! Maureen goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable in the house upon arrival, gives you some tips and ideas for places to go, and then she leaves you to it! The perfect host! The house had plenty of towels, beach chairs, dishes, etc. There was shampoo and soap in the shower. Everything was clean. The screens work really well to keep bugs out and although there is A/C, we never had to use it (in the middle of summer) because the breeze through the screens is constant and cooling. We even got to witness a spectacular Caribbean storm on the first night which was very cool. The beach out front is stunning. There are some slightly rocky parts right in front of the house but go 30 yards in either direction and the sand is smooth and swimming pristine. The water is completely see through. Plus the rock formations and coral are great for snorkeling and seeing fish! If you want absolutely still and clear water, drive 5 minutes to the old Coco di Mama resort on the Caribbean side and hang out in perfect Caribbean water with no one around. Another huge pull of the house is LOCATION. It is only a 5 minute drive to Governor's Harbour and 5 minutes to the airport. You can walk to the Sky Beach Club and chill in the infinite pool swim up bar, though I'd recommend driving there along the access road. The fresh sand can be a chore to walk all that way through. GH is a nice town and it has groceries, a coffee shop, and our favorite restaurant, 1648. All you need really. But even better, if you want to explore north or south, it doesn't matter because you're right in the middle! We drove all the way to the Harbour Town dock in about an hour and all the way south to Cape Eleuthera in a little over an hour. That's pretty much the length of Eleuthera so for whatever you want to see, Cayo Loco is a good base. Just make sure you have the cell phone with you that Maureen provides in case of car trouble. On that note, you will definitely want a 4 wheel drive for your stay and try to get a reliable one. Thank you Maureen and Alan for a great trip. We hope to be back in Eleuthera soon!

Lovely Beach Escape
Wonderfully peaceful stay on a stunner of a beach. Great snorkeling right in front of you and super quiet - we basically saw nobody. Very close to Governor's Harbour if you need restaurants or to get some basics for the kitchen. Lunch on your deck is better view than any restaurant. Dreamy place.

Pink Sands Cottage
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This response is for PINK SANDS COTTAGE ONLY, We unfortunately had a bad experience with this property. If properties are on a water catchment system, they should be check B4 each rental. Especially, during drier times of the year. I feel that our situation could have been avoided. I understand the expense of keeping these properties up, but this was our 1st personal vacation in 7 yrs and it was our 33rd anniversary and we ran out of water 2 times. Fortunately, We were moved to another (better) location and property. If people are going to rent, the property needs to be in a condition to warrants renting. If the water had been checked, they would have known that it was not sufficient for the next weekly rental. Also, at the very least, there should some basic supplies for the new tenant, i.e. 1 roll of papertowels and toilet paper, 1 trashbag, hand soap and dish detergent to tie you over till you can get to the grocery store.
