The Yellow House is a large and elegant 4 bedroom home, designed in the Bahamian Colonial style, with living areas that open out to gracious wrap-around verandas, and a private swimming pool and outdoor dining area that offers the serenity of Eleuthera island life. This home is located at the top of the hill in central Governors Harbour, and is part of the distinguished Governors Harbour Collection of properties.
The ground floor of Yellow House features the great room and dining room, decorated with understated sophistication. The kitchen is large and modern, featuring stainless steel appliances and a custom-designed island – perfect for entertaining. There is a guest powder room on this level, and a beautifully furnished snug office space just below.
The Yellow House has a total of four bedrooms. All beds are dressed with plush duvet covers and luxury, hotel quality linens. The ground floor bedroom contains two twin beds that easily converts to a king with mattress topper. There are three additional bedrooms on the second floor, including two with king beds and one with two double beds and a day bed. All four bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms.
A private balcony from one of the king-sized rooms offers views over the Atlantic Ocean. The other two second-floor bedrooms share a balcony and views of lovely, lush landscaping.
Amenities at Yellow House include high-speed WiFi (Starlink), a large flat screen SMART TV with basic Cable package in living room and a second flat screen SMART TV in the downstairs den, high-efficiency ductless AC units and ceiling fans in every room, a Sonos Bluetooth speaker, a spacious laundry room with large capacity washer and dryer, and off-street parking. There is a large gas grill and al-fresco dining area on the ground floor wrap-around veranda. A golf cart is provided for travelling to and from French Leave Beach, a short ride downhill from the property - *please see note regarding use below. There is also a full capacity generator for back-up power supply.
Private chefs and provisioning services, as well as other resources are always available for an additional charge, on request.
As with all Governor’s Collection properties, beach towels, beach chairs and umbrella and several cooler bags are included with the rental of this property. There is also a 50 quart hard cooler, with wheels, provided. At the guest's option, the swimming pool can be heated for a fee of $350 per week.
An 8-minute walk down the hill leads to world-famous French Leave Beach, a mile-long crescent of pink sand that has been ranked in the top 20 of the world. A 5-minute walk in the other direction takes you to the village of Governor’s Harbour, where you will find grocery stores, liquor stores, several restaurants and cafes, a bank (with ATM services), gift shops, and more!
We are pleased to offer guests the use of a new, electric 6 seater golf cart, with seat belts, for the short 2-3 minute drive downhill to French Leave Beach. Use of the vehicle is entirely optional, but we do ask for a security deposit of $1,000.00 from guests who choose to use it.
The deposit is collected ahead of arrival (please note on booking if you wish to have it included with your stay) and returned within 7 days of departure, provided the golf cart is returned in the same condition as it is received on arrival.
While not licensed for general road use, we find that the majority of our guests appreciate the convenience of having the golf cart for transporting beach chairs, the umbrella, cooler, and other essentials back and forth to the beach. It also enables members of the same family group to partake in various activities on any given vacation day.
The island of Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore.
