A PRAIRIE BUNGALOW !

Our little Prairie Bungalows was built with solid cement blocks by a German immigrant, Carl Tuchenhagen, who came to the Nebraska Panhandle for the Free Land (Homestead). After a time he married Myron’s Grandmother, Johanne, a young widow with three boys. Carl had been trained as a stonemason in Germany. Building with these solid cement blocks was the perfect material for the Sandhills of Nebraska. As Johanne put it in her “proving-up” declaration “there are no trees to build a house”.
As you visit anywhere along the 100th Meridian, from the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, the Pine Ridge Reservation, and Wounded Knee, as well as the Old Town of Gordon, you will find your stay much more pleasant in our lovely home.
It is completely updated, with new plumbing, electricity, oak floors, and handmade( by Myron) kitchen cabinets. New paint and lovely furnishings make this such a comfortable respite for travelers.
The backyard is very well designed, with grapevines and ancient lilacs and rose bushes bringing fragrance to the patio area. We have a gas grill and comfortable seating on the covered Patio.
The front of the house has an arcade porch, should you wish to wish to enjoy the Spectacular Nebraska Sunsets.
The City of Gordon was founded by Rev. Scamahorn, a minister who brought a company of about 100 people, many of them Civil War Veterans and their families to settle near Antelope Creek at “Lone Willow”. The willow tree is still growing!
The town of Gordon is home to the Tri-State Cowboy Museum. This vibrant and active community will welcome you with open hearts.

** We have an exterior security camera to observe external activity **

Fabulous
The hosts communicated brilliantly. The bungalow is charming and in a very quiet setting. It has all the creature comforts of home, there was nothing lacking. If I visit the area again, I will definitely choose to stay at the bungalow.

Home away from Home
This is our third or fourth visit to this property and it has become a home away from home. The house is more than adequate and full of amenities. The bungalow is very comfortable.

Our stay was wonderful. The cottage is comfortable, clean, cozy and fully equipped. We were there 4 nights and cottage had everything we needed. Cute home. The hosts were very accommodating. I had a question upon arrival, I called host and she was welcoming and helpful. I would stay there again.

Great place
Loved all the antiques. Would like to have had more then just a curtain on the bathroom window. Also did not see or hear the tenant in the studio unit even though the car was there the whole time

Prairie Bungalow
The property was clean and as advertised on the VRBO website. It was extremely well stocked and would accommodate a small family nicely. The only downside was that the other property listed by this owner is directly behind the prairie bungalow and if occupied it could get a little crowded in the back yard. Fortunately for me it was not rented. I would stay in Gordon again although the town shuts down very early as is Nebraska tradition.

Treated like Family
The hosts are very involved and considerate. The house is bigger than the pictures looked and well appointed with everything necessary for an adult dinner event. The "bunkhouse" is cozy, and the back yard is gorgeous!

Comfortable and cute house
My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this cute home with so much history. It was very quiet and relaxing. We used the kitchen every day and it was a pleasure to work in. The grocery stores are within walking distance. The home owners were very responsive to our messages. We only had one issue (internet was down) and it was taken care of immediately. We would definitely stay here again.

Delightful!
This is the cutest house!! It was absolutely perfect for our overnight stay in Gordon. We were there to attend a funeral and the house was exactly what we needed. The bed was so very comfortable and the sheets were so soft!. The backyard porch looked amazing - it was too cold for us to go outside, but looked like it would be awesome in the summertime. We were grateful for the space heaters, as the furnace seemed a bit slow, but we were cozy and warm. It was a delightful stay! Thankt you!!
