About this property
The Stag Chalet, new Sauna in the forest! Fast wifi!
The Firepit is calling! The birds are chirping! Mountain modern rustic design, owner built for your vacation enjoyment! The Stag Chalet features massive timber beams, lots of natural light, + space for an extended stay. Unique Scandinavian style rustic mountain home. The Stag chalet is a 2 story 1 1/2 bath chalet set in the forest on a quiet country road. Creek side, there is nothing to disturb your tranquility. Except the wildlife! In our local Boreal forest we have 3 types of owl that you will hear , but may not see and at least 6 types of woodpeckers, who aren't shy! Pine martens, deer and all sorts of small forest critters live in the forest surrounding the chalet. The Kitchen; we understand that you love to cook but need a full kitchen to do it well. From a coffee grinder, blender, sharp knives, to a garlic press we've tried to think of everything, but will be happy to acquire anything that we may have forgotten! We also supply gourmet Kicking Horse coffee, a french press and a percolator. Our surrounding area; Golden is amazing, truly. Situated in the massive Columbia Valley, known as the Valley of a Thousand Peaks, Golden sits in the center of 6 of Canada's most awesome National Mountain Parks. Golden Base Camp is 10 minutes from town and 25 minutes from world class skiing at Kicking Horse Mountain resort. Golden itself offers, golfing, rafting, kayaking, paragliding, parasailing, mountain biking, you name it you could probably find it here!

Spent a lovely week with my family at this property. Great for those looking for a quiet getaway with plenty of activities close by to keep everyone happy!
This was a wonderful base location for skiing several resorts nearby. Clearly Kicking Horse is the easiest to get to. Nancy is very accommodating and response super fast.
Great property close to Golden. Clean, organized and neat with all the amenities needed for a week away from home. The property is very secluded and quiet. Nancy provides quick replies and has cultivated a peaceful retreat for families and thier pups.
The property was great. It was clean, comfortable, and a great location for exploring the area.
Using this as a base, we went to Yoho NP, Glacier NP, Mount Revelstoke (overrated), Mount Seven, and Kicking Horse Mountain. There is a great wolf sanctuary very near by and the town of Golden is good for getting supplies and dinner.Unfortunately our only wildlife sighting was a deer in the backyard, but we did see a couple of black bears 4km up Mount Seven.
We had one minor issue and the host resolved the issue very quickly. We will be coming back to this cabin for some skiing at Kicking Horse.
This property is about 10 minutes past Golden well off the Trans-Canada. It is quiet, peaceful, in the woods and a very simple open design which makes it feel much larger than it really is. Access to Golden and all it has to offer is excellent. For us it was mountain biking. Beware driving around Golden...it is confusing and accessing the highway is tricky at times. The property had everything you needed with one small exception. A microwave would have been handy for us, but that may be just us. The BBQ was excellent for cooking. The property manager was excellent and always available. I would recommend staying here.
Golden, BC, is an hour's drive from Yoho National Park (along HWY 1 to the east) and Glacier National Park (along HWY 1 to the west). It was a perfect spot for our 2-week vacation spent hiking in both national parks.
A high-clearance vehicle is not needed for getting to trailheads in either national park, but would be necessary for accessing most trailheads in town. Travel to each park added considerable time to each day, but the views were amazing and this way, we could trade off the parks for specific hikes.
The property is cosy, clean, and comfortable. Each room has its own temp control. We slept in a cool bedroom and showered in a warm bathroom. Lovely! Bedrooms and living areas had functional screens = fresh air!
We ate breakfast "in" every morning, packed a lunch for the day's hike, and then dined in or out in the evening depending on the exertions of that day's hike. We didn't use the gas grill, fire pit, or screened-in picnic table, though all looked welcoming.
Lovely rental!
We had a really lovely getaway! Host was very responsive to any questions I had prior to booking, after I booked and during our stay.
The cabin is well equipped with everything we needed. It was also very clean and well maintained. It was easy to feel at home here.
The cabin is down a quiet road that makes you feel further from the busyness of town but it is just a short drive to Golden.
Definitely recommend!
Nancy and Brian were exceptional hosts.
The house was exactly as described, although I did have a few questions about things that weren’t included in the listing (bathrooms, water).
It is beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, fully stocked with almost everything needed for our 1 week stay. We were spoiled with the most excellent coffee with French press, a dishwasher, a full laundry and clean new BBQ.
Nancy was quick to respond to any questions we had, especially about the area and where we could visit with our young family.
Wi-Fi was pretty good, there was a smart TV that kept decent connection.
The property is well kept with a beautiful pond, full of life (including mosquitos unfortunately, but they did provide bug spray!) We enjoyed using their fire pit (wood provided) and covered picnic area.
There was another couple staying in the house close by, but the property is set up so that we rarely saw them.
We look forward to going back and watching the site change with the seasons!
