Perfect Spot to Relax!
We had a lovely time at South Fork Lodge! The place had everything we needed for a relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. Perfect location to unplug and relax in the hot tub and listen to the sounds of the river and within walking distance of a few beautiful waterfalls. It's clear Melissa cares that her guests have a wonderful experience — and we (and our dog) certainly did!

Mountain Retreat
An idyllic studio nestled up in Mt. Hood/Index. A gated community of private homes along the Skykomish River. The view from our back windows of the studio were breathtaking. What you see in movies. Melissa was an awesome owner to work with. She welcomed us with a bottle of wine and card to help us enjoy our stay. Many, many trails in the area to hike. Cutest little Expresso Chalet minutes from our home. Picked up our daily chai vanilla latte. Lots of Big Foot souvenirs. This is the actual location where they filmed the movie Harry and the Henderson back in the 80s. ( for all of us baby boomers, gen x, and millenniums.) The most relaxing retreat to refresh your soul and mind.

A Piece of Heaven
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary weekend at this lovely piece of paradise. We loved the easy access to multiple hiking trails nearby and the private waterfalls were a huge bonus. The lodge itself was comfortably furnished, cozy and inviting. The view on the deck of the river and hills was stunning. We both loved soaking in the hot tub while sipping on some wine and reading a book. Hummingbirds came to visit us out on the deck which added even more beauty and relaxation to the setting. At night we watched shooting stars in the sky while soaking in the hot tub. The views of the outdoors from the kitchen and the king-sized bed were breathtaking. We can't wait to go back in the future for a respite from our busy lives again. I recommend this place highly!

Relaxing weekend away
We enjoyed a quiet relaxing weekend listening to the river. Waterfalls within walking distance and not many people around. We recommend renting this property if you love the tranquility of the mountains and the sounds of nature. We had our baby and senior dog with us. Our stay was enjoyed by all.

Hiking base
The Bear Den of the South Fork Lodge was a wonderful getaway into Stevens Pass. The unit was beautiful and outstandingly cozy. View over the river can’t be beat, especially from the hot tub on the porch. Loved our stay here as we explored the hiking trails of the mountain pass.

Mountain Getaway
My husband and I were looking for some R&R and are were so happy we picked South Fork Lodge for our staycation. The property is perfect for a romantic getaway and has breathtaking views of the river and mountains. Our favorite amenity was the covered porch with hot tub. Rain or shine we could sit outside and take in the fresh air and sounds of the river and birds. Gorgeous views when the weather permitted! We had expected easier access to the river bank from the cabin (as pictures show granite slab up to the the water) however the slab is past the cabin and in front of the owner’s home. Perhaps we could have ventured through the yard and onto the rock(s) however there were no instructions permitting us to do so and we didn’t want to overstep. The public access outlined in the cabin guidebook was a quick 5 minute walk down the street however the path was very overgrown and muddy preventing us from getting to the river. If your hope is to sit riverside this spot may not be ideal, but we honestly didn’t mind because the views and nearby waterfalls/hikes offered plenty river access opportunities. The cabin was clean and spacious. Comfortable bed and linens. The kitchen was fully equipped with the basics including a popcorn, hot cocoa, and a variety of cooking seasonings above salt and pepper. We took advantage of the large movie and book collection; a lot of variety. And we enjoyed looking at the maps highlighting where guests have visited from all over the nation/world. Our fur baby was able to join us for our trip which is a huge amenity in itself. We are grateful that the property allows well behaved dogs, and that bowls, poop bags, and dog towels were provided. We drove a short distance to Wallace Falls and enjoyed half a day of hiking the dog friendly trial; beautiful views of the falls that everyone should experience. Communication from the host was exceptional and personalized to us. Overall we had a fantastic time and highly recommend!

Perfect mountain getaway
This little cabin retreat in the woods is the perfect getaway. Right on the river it’s a perfect place to relax and decompress. Melissa was an amazing host and made sure the place was spotless before we got there and even met and showed us how to use the hot tub as well as the fireplace and heating unit! There are 3 waterfalls within walking distance and the entire neighborhood is full of great and interesting people to talk to. (The dogs that bark are actually really nice and just wanted a rub). Definitely will be coming back!

If we had known it was a two story unit with someone staying above us we would not have booked.
When we rented this vrbo, we assumed it was a single room cabin for a romantic get away for my wife and I on her birthday weekend. When we arrived another family just arrived with several young children and a baby. We love kids but they were staying directly above us and the ceiling was very thin. Everytime someone just walked it sounded like they were stomping. Then add kids to the mix and it was difficult to relax that first night after a long drive to there. I had to go talk to the family about keeping the running to a minimum as the night got later. Kids deserve to have their vacation fun too but this was not the isolated retreat we were hoping for. The ammenities themselves were ok but we felt that the owner should have informed us another family was staying in the same house and we would have probably changed our plans.

So relaxing I almost couldn’t leave.
This place is so beautiful, enrobed in mountains when the fog burns off. Overlooking the river the sound of rushing water just cleans away all your cares. The unit was extremely well stocked with everything you need and anything you forgot at home. It’s super close to hikes and the grocery store so it’s convenient. You hardly see any people once you’re there so it feels super private. Melissa was there to welcome us and show us the ins & outs of the place and she was very communicative. 10/10 would recommend.

Great cabin for a couple and some dogs. Fall colors were amazing and there are several beautiful walks from the front door. Walking toward Eagle Falls, some less than friendly dogs came out to warn us away, but did not actually attack. Be aware if walking your dog.
