Four Bedroom Cottage. Spectacular Ocean & Island Views. Close To Beach & Pubs.

Carnmore is a four bedroom, one and a half bathroom Irish cottage located in the Connemara district of Galway. It is on the Wild Atlantic Way and is located on 16 acres of typically rugged West Galway farmland. Nestled in the Twelve Bens mountain range and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Carnmore is the most relaxing holiday spot one can dream of. Carnmore offers guests the opportunity for gentle hill walking or more challenging mountain climbing, fishing for salmon in local streams, and swimming at the nearby beach. Other recreational options include shopping in the nearby towns of Westport and Clifden or golfing on the challenging links of Connemara Golf Club.

Carnmore was designed as a place to relax. We strongly encourage you to enjoy a cozy fire, read the hundreds of books at Carnmore, share stories about the day or tell tales of the legends of Connemara ... or just relax and soak in the spectacular Connemara views, like the view from the sitting room.

Amazing Stay
Great property. Stunning location. Short walk to beach. Also plenty of beaches to choose from within a short drive of property. We visited with family and were lucky enough to get some great weather while we were there. The views from the property itself are just fabulous. There is some nice little walks up behind the house and down towards the ocean as well. Our kids really enjoyed the whole adventure of it. So much to do in the area if you want to but also a great place to do nothing and just enjoy where you are. A real gem. Thank you!

Another fantastic stay in Connemara
We stayed in the property last year and due to its location couldn't wait to go back again this year. Once again the views were stunning and by far the best selling point. We were looked after and nothing was any bother. The area is quite simply outstanding and the most beautiful part of Ireland we have ever visited.

loved connmara and this location.
john was so responsive immediately and it was a great find as we only were able to rent for 5 nights in high season. mary, the caretaker, was so kind since we could not find the house after a long 6 hour drive from dingle. she met us and helped us find it and get settled in. when we asked her to call us a cab for dinner, she got us one for return only and she offered to drive us herself! she came by one night and set up a peat fire which was lovely. john made sure we even had blowdryers, as i requested. the views are spectacular and we loved waking up the the bleating of the sheep. beds are comfy too. i loved walking up and down the road. we visited killer sheep farm and did the killary fjord boat tour, Ashley falls walk, hired john hannon of Connemara day tours for a great 5 hour tour of clifden, sky road, omey beach and so much more, kylemore abbey and the gardens, diamond head at cnp, and the various beaches. we loved this part of Ireland. folks so kind and really good food too. thanks so much john. it was a pleasure staying in your well loved house filled with so many great family photographs and memories. we also did not miss wifi (kids did!) but it resulted in a lot more game playing and laughs.

Spectacular Connemara
We had a fantastic time staying at the property, the most spectacular views we have ever seen in Ireland. The surrounding area was simply stunning and late evenings were spent watching the sunset. The beaches were beautiful and clean and we spent days there loving the sunshine. The people were friendly and we ate in Coynes, Guys Snug and Clover fox - all of which were superb. We can't wait to visit again!!

House with fantastic view!
John Connelly is a wonderful host and guide to Connemara. He is very helpful, kind, caring, fast to response and highly intelligent. The house has a fantastic view on the bay, a jagged coast line with numerous islands. We enjoyed the view from the windows in the morning, day, evening and even night time. It is a very nice house with a cozy fireplace, many books and very clean and comfortable beds. There is so much to do in Connemara, that your stay always will be full of activities. We regret only one thing - that we didn't plan to stay here longer!

Great home in a a great little village....
I came over to Scuba Dive and scout out dive sites for a future dive club trip to Ireland. This home was very close to my dive center there .... and only a few min to town to get items from the market.... the home itself has no WiFi, tv, radios, clocks. It’s a home for you to “disconnect” so to speak, and that it did. Plenary of space for 7 people and a fully stocked kitchen and laundry units on site as well. Perfect stay, although sad to say my 14 planned dives on this trip was cut very short due to Storm Ali.... But the home perfect! When this dive trip comes next year, it will be this home I rent!

Lovely place and in a beautiful setting
We loved staying here with our 2 kids aged 8 and 11. We loved especially the cosy living room and the amazing views. In the evening, we lit a fire in the fire place and played the board games. There's a huge wooden box full of family games! We did a hike to the Diamond hill at the Connemara national park, went for a ride at the Diamond equestrian centre, took the boat to Inisbofin island, and enjoyed swimming at the beautiful beach nearby since the weather was exceptionally warm. All in all, this is a lovely place and I would recommend it warmly to anyone who enjoys beautiful scenery and the countryside.

Wonderful views!
We are so grateful to John and Margret for sharing their cozy cottage and bucolic countryside with us. The property affords beautiful views along the coast and far into the hills. We enjoyed family games, very pleasant visits to the pubs in Tully Cross, hiking in the hills, spending time on the beach, and the most spectacular sunsets! We were also treated to an amazing full moon.

Lovely Irish Cottage with incredible views!
My husband and I traveled to Ireland with our three adult sons. Carnmore accomodated the five of us beautifully. The cottage was neat and tidy and offered incredible views of the ocean. Connemara was a perfect location to take day trips. I would highly recommend staying at this lovely Irish cottage and hope someday to return!

Adorable cottage with spectacular views of the Atlantic,
The cottage is spacious and well equipped. Excellent beaches and hills to explore. We walked, rode bikes, explored the hills and beaches, went horseback riding, and had many fires in the fireplace at night! So relaxing enjoying the view of the Atlantic from the family room. Lots of books and games to play.

Fabulous getaway with everything we needed
Forget driving around to get "views." If you stay here, you can do what you want to do and then come home for the best views while simply relaxing! It was AMAZING and a tremendous blessing to wake up each morning to a panorama unrivaled by anything else we encountered during our travels. With the long days in late May, we were able to hike, plus just sit and gaze at the view or read. It never rained while we were there, but if it had, we would have been happy to amuse ourselves with the great assortment of books and board games. The photos are representative of the current state of the property. John obviously loves sharing his home and his love for the area; communication was very easy and access to the house on arrival was flawless. A+ for hospitality! The house is conveniently located for everything we needed or wanted. It was great to have a separate washer and dryer and a coffee maker (yay)! Data signal is great if you have to connect, but you'll never regret using the opportunity to connect with your family instead. It is a 5 minute drive to Kings cafe if you need wifi - great soup, sandwiches and especially the cake! Really good food at Paddy Coynes in Tully Cross.

Perfect, perfect, perfect!
We absolutely LOVED this house for our short time in Connemara! If you are looking for a peaceful house in Ireland that is not too far from great places (Galway, Westport, Connemara National Park) this is the ideal place. The views alone are a must see! John provided us with great recommendations, and we truly enjoyed everything from meeting & chatting with the locals, dining in Westport and hiking in the National Park. Mary, who takes care of the house, is wonderful and seemed to always be available (even sending her husband, Patrick, to save us when we locked ourselves out). She even brought us some turf so that we could experience a proper turf fire in the fireplace while reading a book from the library in the house. If we ever come back to Ireland, we would be so lucky to be able to stay here again! Thanks John for sharing this part of the world with us. The Taylors

Beautiful Retreat
My family (three young boys and parents) loved staying at Carnmore. We stayed a week and could have stayed longer. The house is cozy and accommodating; there was more that enough room for all of us to sleep and to spread out. We played games by the turf fire on the cool evenings, hiked, went to the beach, explored the area, and loved stopping at the Kings Shop for a piece of cake and chat. Connemara is a ruggedly beautiful portion of Ireland with much to explore. We felt very far away and loved every second of it. Our hosts and caretaker were very accommodating and available for questions or to offer suggestions. We travelled all around Ireland this summer, and Carnmore was one of our very favorite spots.
