Place was clean and right on the water was a plus. We enjoyed our time there and will be back for another stay. Owners also was great making sure everything was in order for us. Thanks again to be able to add your place to our memories ❤
This was the perfect getaway for our family of 5. The property was very clean and appointed with all the things that we needed to just focus on family and fun. The hosts were wonderful and greeted us with a smores welcome basket and were prompt in responding to questions.
The house was perfect! It was clean, well equipped and had an amazing location. Our family enjoyed fishing off the dock, kayaking and boating. Highly recommend!
A stones throw was the perfect spot for our family trip. The house was great and Melissa was easy to communicate with. We really appreciated the firewood, smores kit, and beach towels. We would be happy to come back and stay again.
This was this perfect spot for us we have three younge boys and they loved the house and being by the lake. My boys fished all day and we used the kayaks one day and we loved the s’more station!
My family, which included a teen, a tween, two grandparents and my spouse very much enjoyed and appreciated the charm and coziness of this cabin. The lake was at its lowest which made it perfect to go find fossils, which we did! It was so nice to come back here and relax after all our cave adventures. We would definitely stay here again. Also, we very much enjoyed finding all the frogs hidden in plain site! That was a fun game.
We had a great time at this Cabin. The location was remote but still close enough to needed services. Cozy and loaded with many extras including a s’more kit that the kids loved. Top notch amenities throughout the cabin. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle.
Every aspect of this cabin was a premium experience! S’mores kit, firewood & kindling, comfortable beds, fishing rods & tackle box, kayaks & life vests, swimming, Sonos speakers, tvs with Apple TVs, condiments in fridge, toiletries. I could go on and on how great this place was. Did I mention it was SUPER clean? 19min to Mammoth Cave, 20min to a Walmart. It’s going to be so hard to stay anywhere else after this cabin!
No detail was left out in renting this amazing property. The owners really go above and beyond to make this lake house welcoming. We enjoyed the remote location, ample supply of firewood and smores station. The lake is so peaceful to take the provided kayaks out. Kitchen is well stocked for morning coffee. Don't look anywhere else if you want seclusion and plenty of amenities!
Only stayed two nights in this house and wished I had a whole month. The owners had everything you could ever need. They also left me a birthday treat of yummy pumpkin bread. I loved sitting by the fire at night. And fishing during the day. I absolutely fell in love with the cabin, the view, the atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back to this one!
This was a wonderful property. Very clean and had everything we needed and then some (a smores station, fishing poles and kayaks). The kitchen had all the tools we needed to make several meals during our stay. There's two small beds in an upstairs loft, a queen and bunk bed downstairs in separate rooms, and the couch on the main level is a pull out. This would be a good fit for a big family, but I wouldn't recommend it for folks with toddlers/new walkers due to there being lots of stairs both inside and out (our 4 year old did fine with them). The owners were very communicative and accommodating, and we really enjoyed our stay.
The property was absolutely phenomenal. They thought of everything in the design and all the extra things to do. Cornhole. Kayaks. Life jackets. Paddles. Fire pit. Outdoor lighting. And much more. Very unique and relaxing. Perfect place to stay! Highly recommend!!!
My family and I like to stay at different properties when we take vacation time as a family. We normally like to stay in different places. Within 15 minutes of being at the property, the kids wanted to come back on our next vacation.
This place was picturesque. I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. It it was all of the little things that the owners thought of that made the difference. They even thought of making a tackle box that had smores supplies for the firepit.
I can't recommend this property more. Unless something happens, my family and I will be back this spring.
This place was perfect for us. I loved everything about it. I can’t say enough good things. It has everything you need for a perfect stay on the lake. My teenage grandson and his best friend had a blast swimming, fishing, and kayaking. The only thing that would have made it better is if it didn’t rain every day we were there. That didn’t stop those boys from having the time of their lives and the lake house was perfect for me to seek refuge from the weather. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Matthew and Melissa for sharing your little piece of heaven with us.
Our family has been wanting to go to Mammoth Cave for some time. Upon searching for a place to stay while there, we came across “A Stones Throw” on Barren River Lake. The listing looked great…on the water, kayaks, fishing, etc. It was a new listing with no reviews, but we took a chance. IT WAS PERFECT!!! Everything was exactly as the listing described. We did morning cave tours, grabbed some lunch and spent the rest of the day on the water…so much fun!! The deck space was phenomenal with lots of seating and the fire pit was a great place to end the day with s’mores. The home owners were super easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any questions we had. Loved our stay and highly recommend!!!
This was perfect for our little getaway, we all loved the location, we seen a deer every morning walking through woods. We were stunned via the things that was there for use i mean it was over and above! The only thing i would highly recommend folks bringing is mosquito spray and lots of it, but remember you are in the woods so it is expected your going to get them! (of course 100% not a shot at the property) Our group have stayed at a few places for a little getaway but this has been by far the BEST! A few stair but once again you have to expect that. This might sound silly but we loved the stone speaker that just made the nights around the fire pit perfect!...HIGHLY RECOMMEND and the owners are great to have correspondence with!!!

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Communication
Small and cozy but some issues.
When we first arrived we were treated by a mouse on a sticky pad. Needless to say we found mouse droppings in a lot of places. Including our towels. I tried communicating with the owner after our stay and never received a response. The sleeping accommodations are for 7 but that is the only thing. We had to bring seating in from outside to have comfortable places to sit in the living room. There is only enough seating at the kitchen table for 4 but there are tv trays. Other than all of that it was a nice place to stay. Beautiful views and comfortable beds. Also be aware the beds are all upstairs and downstairs which we didn’t realize (but should have). Not a great place for small children or elderly.
We loved staying at this VRBO property! The outdoor space was ideal for a campfire and relaxing. Beautifully maintained property. You could see the lake through the trees while relaxing. The property has a cozy cottage feel, but still enough space for the whole family. The kids had fun fishing at the doc and caught bluegills. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were plenty of linens and towels. The proximity to Mammoth Cave National park (35 minutes) and Bowling Green (40 minutes) was great! We will be back!
This is the second time we stayed here and we love it. It has everything you need for a great stay on the lake. We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!’
This house was the perfect place to stay and check out Mammoth Cave and surrounding areas. Two of our days were simply spent on the lake and at the house playing games and enjoying the fire pit. Not too far from any kind of attraction, well equipped, and comfortable.
