Pre Earthquake Paradise
We had the best stay at Woodstock. We were unable to get there for our original start date due to large swell and so missed out on our first few days. Eventually we took a slow boat over and arrived to a friendly greeting and a great little place to stay. It's exactly what I imagined! We were offered our breakfast for the day when we arrived which was great cos we had been travelling by car, boat, car, boat and foot to get there and were pretty hungry! The staff was super friendly and kept the place spotless. Every day our beds were made and the mosquito nets were put down in the pm. There is a great little pool and nice little day beds to lay on. We also became friends with other guests. We decided to leave Woodstock a day early as we were going over to Lombok to check out the waterfall and realised it made no sense to come all the way back in the late arvo only to get up early and return to Lombok to take the ferry again. That was a fortunate decision as the earthquake happened that day. We were caught up in the middle of it in Senggigi but our evacuation was quick and easy. We can't believe how awful it must have been on the Gilis with so much destruction and chaos. We are hoping all the lovely staff are okay and that their families and homes are okay too. I have no idea how the Woodstock Bungalows fared. Our bungalow was made of wood and grass roof so we are hoping it was okay. I don't know if anyone took over our room for the night but if so, I hope they are okay too.
