The location is good if you are interested in the historical core of Georgetown. There’s lots to see and many places to eat within walking distance. The owner is very kind and helpful. She helped us find our way around town and recommended good food places!

Clean, good location
Good location, 10-15 mins walk to most things you want to see in George Town. Hassle free check in (we arrived late so the staff left the key in a safe place for us) and hassle free check out. Actually we never met any of the staff. Room was clean, the bathroom very new. Bed was comfy. But we were on the 1st floor which meant we had to endure the people stomping away on the second floor, and people walking and talking on the streets. Among the better hotels of its kind for the price, and there was always street parking in front of the hotel.

Dilemma experience
i brought two kid along with my in-laws for a short overnight stay. The inn is nicely decorated, room was clean and located in a historical area. However this not suitable with family with kid or heavy footer as the wooden floor will reflect your movement accurately, in another words noise to others.

Basic toiletries & room service are not provided.
There are no toothbrush, tissue in room. Only a 2 in 1 hair & body soap dispenser. Hotel staff said is provided only upon request. No room cleaning service or towel change though we stayed for 2 nights. There is no counter staff after 7pm with surrounding environment doesn't look safe.

A nice boutique hotel
A nice boutique hotel close to a lot of the recommended places of interest. The family room we had is spacious and could really accommodate a family of three. Eating out is easy, and if you want to take shelter (due to the hot weather) in an air conditioned shopping mall, Prangin Mall is just a stone throw away. The only down side is there is no room service, and there is also no known self operative laundry service nearby.

Value for money
Room was a tad too small for my liking. I was not sure why I had the impression that the room was supposedly bigger... Anyway, no toiletries given (only toilet roll and bath towels) I'm used to traveling light so I did not bring along my toiletries... Breakfast was not impressive. Did not bother to take breakfast at this establishment. Room was adequately furnished and cosy. Did not like that there were no curtains to block out sunlight in the morning. I guess I got what I paid for, There was a mildly unpleasant smell having walked past a corner where they have this pet rabbit in a cage at the common area. Service desk at fixed hours- 8am to 7pm. Location was great though! However, no convenient store within the vicinity. May not consider this hotel again

Good location but...
The room was too small and bewarn, you are made to carry your shoes in a bag upstairs. No cleaning at all throughout the period of stay. Minimal reception hours. Next to the road and could be noisy.

I had a wonderful stay here
This is a great hotel on the edge of the heritage district of Georgetown, so the location was great. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the wooden floors and high ceiling. The staff was pleasant, and they even upgraded me for no extra cost which was super lovely.

Lovely old building, really nicely restored. Beds and pillows really comfortable! Bathroom has an effective shower curtain. Staff only on site 9-6 but they came in at 7 to give us breakfast before an 8 am bus. Breakfast is very basic. Walkable throughout the old city and even to the bus station (10 min).

Excellent Hotel with excellent location
A Brit in Asia - We have been to Penang before but always stayed at the Novotel or similar , this time we really wanted to feel the ambiance of the old town. We were greeted by Joey and were not disappointed, the staff were just so friendly and helpful. What impressed us straight away was that everything was so clean, someone had really thought about what visitors wanted. The room we stayed in was at the front of the building and was a large room, fully aircon, very well furnished and extremely comfortable with good bathroom, again everything was very clean. There was also satellite TV just in case you needed it. Some people may find that particular room noisy as you could hear all the hustle and bustle outside however thats actually why we wanted to stay there, we wanted the whole experience. (If we had wanted an isolated quiet room we would have stayed elsewhere) The location is terrific as we just got up each morning and pottered around the Heritage streets, just amazing. Also a stone throw from the jetties where you could walk and see the Sunrise & Sunset. All in all it was one of the best weekend aways we have had.

If only it was on the second floor
Sleeping quality was not bad. Just try to avoid room 103. Can hear footsteps from second floor. Otherwise it is was a good stay in terms of location and value. Just ensure you request for rooms on the second floor. Good coffee right opposite of this hotel.

2/10 Terrible

Annetta

Disliked: Staff & service, room comfort
First off the staff at the front desk were lovely. The rooms were adequate. However at 8pm on our first night very noise construction started directly outside our door, including excavator digging, jackhammers, dumping of rocks, moving of pipe, and talking. We are on the 2nd floor with the construction directly below our window (photos attached). This continued off and on until after 11pm when we called the manager, Jason, who is located 1 hour away. I asked when it would be finished maybe around 4am. I asked to be moved to another hotel and Jason said he was unsure of this possibility. Around 12am we decided to find our own hotel and move on our own. This included our 2 year old who was struggling to sleep through the noise. As someone who lives in SE Asia I know these thing happen from time to time without warning. However the hotel did very little to support us when it was happening. I again spoke to Jason the next morning as we decided to discontinue our stay at the hotel all together. He assured me if I sent a refund request the would agree to send the money back. It has been nearly 1 month as to date the hotel as refused to issue any kind of refund. I think the hotel is fine, but if you have any problems do not expect them to support you when someone is not on duty on location (front desk has limited hours). Additionally I can not say the hotel is honorable since they have not follow through on their word to refund part of our stay.

DNice is really nice.
So good i stayed here twice. Georgetown is such a nice place I stayed for 9 days as opposed to intended 4. D'Nice House is lovely and well located. Advice for all - if not fully occupied ask that no room above you is being used, as with wooden floorboards above the noise is terrible and it's not the person above you fault. Simply bad management - upgrades and moves should be given ASAP., ruined my last night. Tips - urban spice for a lovely breakfast is 5 mins away, cafe across kids on bike art is good too for French toast and tea. LittleIndia is great for dinner as are so many places. For the beach in Batu Ferengii take 101 bus and be prepared for a cold journey (air-con). Best tip for the beach, but I never said it - just walk into the Golden Sands Resort complex and enjoy the facilities for free as no one asks!! Enjoy.
