A very noisy family group let the children play outside their room in a tiled hallway which was not conducive to restful sleep. "We had a lovely 1 night stay with our 2 dogs. This hotel is very dog friendly and we could even bring our pointers with us into their restaurant when we had dinner. The staff was super friendly and the food amazing:) The only little thing I would have liked to have been informed about when booking our room, was that if we wanted to use the jacuzzi (that was the major reason we booked this hotel) we should have booked it so they could have had the chance to fill it with water and heat it up. "The service was amazing and the food was delicious. Everyone from the owners who made you feel like family to all the servers were excellent. The owners spoke English. Although Steffi did not speak a lot of English she tried and always had a smile and was delightful. The tub was an unexpected surprise but a very good surprise. There was also a shower. "Very nice place in a quiet scenic area. Facilities are great plus dining is very personable. Deducted a star due to a front desk member who was rude to me during check in(plus couldn’t locate our reservation the supervisor stepped in and took care of us). Also,our door lock needed repair (the maintenance guy there was top notch and saved the day by fixing our door). Aside from our check in woes this is a very nice place to stay and will probably stay here again."

The post overlooked part of the Fulda Gap, which would have been a prime invasion route had the Cold War erupted into actual warfare. The "Point Alpha" memorial commemorates its forty-year existence, and was dedicated to keep it and a section of East German wall as reminders of German division and the confrontation of NATO and the Warsaw Pact in the Cold War.
