The two previous years we stayed in a resort at south end of Garden City. Resort had gates and a compound-type feeling with choppy floor plans and expensive contract.
Decided to explore options at north end of Garden City. Glad we did.
We enjoyed the surroundings and nicely maintained outdoor pool and tennis court. Condos were attached, yet we felt independence and openness without feeling encroached upon, and there was no noise carryover between condos.
Location was convenient for all attractions, rentals for Lake and beach activities, and closer to town than previous resort. Price was budget friendly and was a determining factor for venturing a change. Condo kitchen/livingroom (great space) was very open and accommodated 6 of us very well.
We did have a few issues that prevented a 5-star rating. The floor was more comfortable than the pull out sofa bed mattress. The 2nd bedroom with full bed and two bunks had a closet but it was owner locked, so we had no place to hang clothing. We found items left by previous occupants, and extra trash bags were unavailable. Extra small soap bars were not available. These were cleaning and servicing issues and reported to management. The only vacuum is the condo was owner's vacuum. It had no suction and was worthless for daily vacuuming in traffic or dining areas. We are very handy people, but didn't want to spend time doing vacuum repair. Best to bring own tennis rackets, balls, and frisbee, etc. Towels for the pool are at manager's office in town, so get what you need after checking in. Disposal did not work. There was no cover for the opening, so we had to improvise a cover. Oh, if coming in after dark in June, and porch light is on, plan on gnats being very thick at the door entry. Don't inhale. Carry a towel to fan away gnats and then dash inside. You will have gnat duty inside. Can't avoid it. A working vacuum with extension rod would have been very much appreciated at this point.
