Galveston, Oh Galveston

This 1905 Classical Revival home welcomes you with stately columns and a double wrap around porch. The beautiful period architecture and a lead glass front door invite you into the spacious entry hall and curved staircase with stained glass windows. French doors open into the living room and beautiful antique gas fireplace. Pocket doors lead to a large dining room under an antique chandelier and coffered ceiling.
The space
The kitchen radiates warmth and charm with glass cabinets, original sink, beaded board, butcher block counters and newer stainless steel appliances, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, range and dishwasher. A huge arched window looks out to a vine covered pergola/porch and outside seating and dining area. Upstairs you will find a spacious hall with a walk-thru double-hung window stepping out to an upstairs porch. The bath features an antique pedestal sink, tin ceilings and claw foot tub to add charm while the glass shower enclosure with rainfall head provides modern luxury. The 3 beautiful bedrooms and sunporch compete this lovely home.

How to Spend The Perfect Day in Galveston

The perfect day in Galveston starts with waking up in the historic Downtown core and grabbing a coffee at MOD Coffeehouse or Red-Light Coffee Roasters. Sit, sip and watch the city come to life.

Then start the day with a tour of Bishop’s Palace or Moody’s Mansion for a look at the beautiful historic architecture found in the city. This is also a great time to see the unique abandoned railroad car at the Galveston Railroad Museum.

Grab lunch at Little Daddy’s Gumbo Bar or Gaido’s before heading to one of the area’s stunning beaches for the afternoon. The three choices for travelers looking to spend time on a Galveston beach are typically Poretto, Babe’s Beach or Stewart Beach. Soak up the sun, swim, or get out on the water for some fun activities like stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking.

In the evening make a reservation at Saltgrass Steakhouse for a mouthwatering meal of top-tier Texas cuisine. Finish out the night at one of Galveston’s many popular cocktail bars before retiring to the hotel for the evening.

Another option for those who are not fans of cocktail bars is to visit the pier after dinner and take part in some of the many fun activities along this strip from rides to games, and more. Couples can enjoy a fun date night here while families with young kids will find this a more suitable way to end the night.
