The house was a bit scary and the guest book made it worse because it mentioned they saw a lady dressed in white.

Tje place definitely needs some love. The walls show water damage, the bathroom semi-works. There arent a lot of options for TV if youre stsying in.

Issues not shown in the listing
The house is a pretty, Victorian style, like the pictures show. Spacious for what we needed. Nice outdoor lot. Bedding, towels, and the property seemed generally clean; however, there were a few points about the property that were not shown in the pictures. There were little red/brown ants on the kitchen counter, a spider on one of the bed pillows, and a cockroach in the kitchen sink. There were multiple places where the paint on wood was peeling, the wooden porch was weak and had a hole at the top of the stairs, the upholstery on much of the furniture appeared soiled, the kitchen sink had a "dip" in it which created standing water and a brown spot, and the window at the top of the back bedroom door appeared that it was about to fall out of its frame. The bathroom shower was rickety and unpleasant to use. The property seems to be in need of some general maintenance and touch-ups to the interior. It has the potential to be very nice if the above items are corrected.

Unkempt yard, peeling paint on exterior, bathroom in need of total remodel, ceiling tiles coming off wall, filthy barbecue grill, dead roach in kitchen. Dark and gloomy rooms with faded window coverings.

Perfect House
We didn't need to be on the beach so this older home was perfect for us. It was a short drive to everything and we enjoyed walking the dog though the neighborhood. Will definitely rent this house again.

This home was so cool! If you like older homes that have been renovated with all modern conveniences- this one is for you. Walking distance to the sea wall and great dining. Quiet neighborhood and very kind neighbors. I highly recommend this experience.

Potentially Charming
There's so much potential at this house for much more than a nice stay. But plumbing issues, accumulated dust, various needed repairs and uncomfortable beds diverted our attention from the overall spacious rooms, cool temperatures in the downstairs and the Victorian charm upstairs.

Needs work
Its a nice interesting style in a great location. The negatives are in the plumbing. The bathroom sink backs up whenever the water is on. The shower has very little water pressure. Also the pull out bed in the living room is broken. The extra pillows in the house look gross.

Loved our stay
The house is really cute. Our family loved it for the weekend. Perfect back yard for the dogs to be in. Quite neighborhood. The only complaint I have is the downstairs shower had hair all in it and so did the towels. The rest of the house was clean. Plenty of space for a larger family. And close enough to most things in Galveston that only takes a few minutes to drive to.

Loved the Architecture, built in 1903.
Interior was very comfortable. We had a family Christmas here. The large dining table was perfect. Fenced in backyard was perfect for the two small dogs that we brought. Overall it was great.

From A Different Time...
This house encapsulates the period feel of the area in which it is located. Its richly decorated upper floor contains some attractive, fascinating even, furniture redolent of the mid-20th century. It's authenticity makes a stay here like stepping back into a movie or TV series of the 1950s. However, for those wishing to spend some time here, it also includes other items which should most definitely not be redolent of the mid-20th century. The kitchen is at least a generation out of date, and the state of the bathroom is, quite frankly, lamentable. After we had established ourselves in the house, we agreed that the whole stay was taking on the aura of moving into the home of a distant, recently-deceased single relative in order to finalise the estate. Everything was of a different time - and, when it comes to cooking, cleaning and eating, this should really not be the case in a holiday rental. Below stairs, there is a separate and very different apartment. The topography and meteorological history of Galveston determines that ground level accommodation needs to be ready to survive anything - and here, the feel is of a sturdy hurricane-proof 1960s bunker. Unattractive furniture shares rooms with thundering fans, A/C and de-humidifiers - damp is obviously a problem (Hurricane Ike imposed itself to a depth of 3 feet). The layout of the kitchen area here suggests a rapid and ill-thoughout compromise and the overhead cupboards are a killer for anyone over 5 feet tall (why?). The back garden (yard) could do with some husbandry: bushes and trees need cutting back extensively and the lawn area isn't working. Attention to this would make it a lighter more atractive area. Our stay (late October) was when the mosquitos are at their height, so the overgrown garden was, in essence, a no-go area. This neglect or lack of attention is all such a shame. The historic neighbourhood is interesting and pleasant and this house could be a tremendous part of it. The upstairs needs to be connected internally to downstairs; kitchen and bathroon facilities (in both) need shaking violently into the 21st century and... result? A fabulous place, rich with heritage, spacious, attractive and accomodating. We'd be back like a shot.

Worst experience EVER!!! Review site wouldn't let me select no, I didn't enjoy my stay...
I originally rented this home so that we could stay in Galveston for our daughters softball tournament. We were supposed to have her teammates hang out with us and have family come down but couldn't do either. I originally booked it from July 11th-15th. When I called back to add the 9th and 10th they tried double charge me for all of the fees I'd already paid for. The first floor smells like mold so bad that it almost makes you sick immediately upon entrance so out of the gate, half of the house is not usable. The actual owner of the property stopped by and when I asked her about it she said that it only smells that bad when the dehumidifier isn't working...then she told me I could go out to the garage to get a hose to connect to the dehumidifier so it would continuously drain instead of stopping when it got full. She told me to handle any issues with the mgmt company and that her and I could just be friends. WTH! The yard was not cut when we arrived on Tuesday and it didn't get cut on until Friday. This is a "Dog-friendly home" but the backyard has plants that are extremely poisonous to dogs so don't leave them out there alone. We also had a lot of roaches in the house! We had to put any food we opened in the microwave, oven and fridge to keep them from getting into it. I actually had a roach crawl across my foot in the shower! I just stepped on it and pushed it down the drain but had that happened to my wife or daughter they would have freaked out and likely slipped and gotten injured. The bed in the master is like a slab of concrete and the ceiling fan above it looks like it could fall on you at any moment due to a large water stain around the connection point. The bed in the spare bedroom is so soft you literally sleep in the shape of a U and the third bed has a broken frame so you're sleeping at about a 45 degree angle. When I put that mattress on the floor to sleep on a level surface, it just allowed me to feel every spring it had. If you want privacy then beware, most of the doors don't close properly. The shower upstairs has sheet rock in it and a rotten window seal from water damage. I did get a call about the yard not being cut on Tuesday but then didn't hear back from them until Friday after I threatened to blast them on every review site and social media site I could. This house should be condemned! The only reason we stayed was because we couldn't find another dog friendly home at the time...even though we asked them to move us.

Nice house, great location
The house is beautiful and very spacious. Having the upstairs area and the downstairs as well was a great way for everyone to have their own space and not have to be on top of each other all the time. The beds were also quite comfortable. The location was also great. The house is right in the middle of everything so nothing is too far away! The only downsides were not too big of a deal. The first night there were several roaches in the bathroom when the lights were turned on. After that, we just kept the lights on in the bathroom and never saw another one. The front door was also extremely hard to close and lock. Every time we left, everyone would load in the car and whoever was locking the door would still be trying to lock it when we were all ready to go. It was always locked eventually, but it was very difficult from the outside.
