Great view and location!
We were so positively surprised! The place is great. Close to the city centre and easy to find free parking nearby :)) But the view... We spent so much time just looking at the sea from the top balcony 😍 Highly recommend:))!!

Convenient property & great host
Our host João was very kind and helpful. The property was very good and was as described in the listing. It included all the facilities that we needed and was located a 10 minute walk away from Central Funchal. All in all it served as a lovely base to explore the rest of Madeira from.

I really enjoyed my stay at this property. It was in such a great location and the view from the balcony was amazing. The host was so helpful and great at recommending restaurant. I’d definitely recommend this stay

Nice stay
The place is up a hill, and there are some noises, but all in all it was very nice to stay there. Two stages and balconies. Seperatet rooms. Nice ambience and a great view over Funchal. The kitchen has everything you need (the oven could be places better, but it worked for cooking).

Great stay
The stay at Aldinas place was absolutely great. The appartement is clean, spacious and has a great few over beautiful Funchal. Communication with the owner was flawless and easy, they were really helpful with lokal Tips.

Good neighborhood.
Good location, it is up a hill, but thats all Madeira. We drove and found it easy. Nice local cafe a few houses up. If you exit the front and go straight around the building in front there is a small grocery store. Cafes safari. Have a steak sandwich.

Very Nice stay in Funchal
The house was very good. It’s big and clean. There were 2 balconys with amazing view !! The hosts are really Nice and reagents. I recommend this accomodation.

Awesome place and great location
Cannot really ask for anything more in a rental property. Great location that is very central to Funchal, amazing balcony with views, nice kitchen and bathroom. The owner is very easy to reach and more than willing to help out with anything. Great price as well.

Overall, we were very happy
Overall we loved the our stay. A quick walk to the harbor with an amazing view, and easy to drive to and park. It was exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. Make sure to read other reviews as there were a few little things that others have commented on that may have affected our experience had we not been prepared. With an extra roll of TP, some salt and pepper, and maybe another pillow and blanket we would stay here again.

Great spot
It was really handy for town, and the view from the rooftop terrace was amazing. The house itself was lovely. I think the kitchen could have been better equipped and the fridge not right in front of oven door, the bedding in the second room could do with an upgrade, but overall it was great value for money.

Good place for visiting Madeira!
The flat is nice and spacious, located in a very convenient spot on Madeira for getting around the island by car. Aldina's son, João, was extremely kind to us and also recommended good restaurants. The only downside was that the flat was rather minimally equipped. Toiletries and toilet paper would be very useful on the arrival.

The appartment is nicely located in a not too busy but yet very central area of Funchal. Stunning view from the terrace / balony over the ocean/ harbor and mountains. Owners are very kind, easy to reach out to and super helpful. Will come back if possible.

Apartament with a great view
Nice apartament located on a hill (amazing views from the balcony but steep climb from the city center if walking), conveniently located (close to downtown Funchal and the highway). The host was very helpful, flexible and easy to reach. The only thing I would improve is the cleanliness. Don't get me wrong, in general the apartment was clean but certain places (like balcony or shower shelf) seem to be forgotten. If booking please bear in mind that there are barking dogs next door, but I didn't hear them at night.

Couldn't be better
This apartment is in an ideal location to enjoy all the splendor that Madeira has to offer. Just a few minutes walk from the center of Funchal. We hired a motorbike and parking outside was not a problem. Kitchen was very well equipped, so easy to prepare all the delicious fresh produce from the market and enjoy from the balcony overlooking the port.

Noisy and lack of maintenance
There was a lot of noise in the night, dogs barking from the appartement below. Multiple locks didnt work ( frontdoor and bathroom door. No towels to dry the dishes.

Picturesque place but basic equipment
Not too far from the center town but very steep street to access to the apartment from the center. Some noise late in the evenings and nights because of barking of dogs Nothing to prepare some cooking ( oil, salt, vinegar , sugar ,…) and Hand wash dishes and soaps.

Putting the fun in Funchal
We thoroughly loved our experience in Madeira. Our host, João was so helpful with his communication and recommendations prior to our arrival. He was very kind, and although we arrived early, we were able to drop off our bags and he personally showed us the most wonderful café: Cafe Fortaleza (don't miss it, Ricardo is amazing!) The location is very well located (800 m elevation from the waterfront), and so you definitely get lots of steps in! Take a Bolt directly to the door if you are carrying lots of things! Inside, the apartment was clean and exactly as the photos show with two lovely decks, a great view of the city and lots of space. Although it is stocked with towels + dishes, pack your own soap as that isn't included. João continued to provide helpful tips and was very responsive. We would highly recommend staying here.

Repairs and renovation long overdue; no privacy possible
We had a bad experience. Frankly all the positive comments are surprising. The house is in bad condition, it seems like nothing has been done in terms of repairs for a while, even small urgent things. There is a lot of water damage visible on the walls, and signs of mold in some places. The door handle in the bathroom is broken inside, so that it’s impossible to get out when you’re in (unless somebody lets you out). Because of that, there is literally zero privacy. This has been known for a while (see review 02.2024) and nothing was done about it. We let the owner know about this problem as soon as we discovered it, but he said that he is abroad and didn't seem to be very interested to help either. First night of our stay water was leaking on my mom’s head while she was sleeping! I couldn't believe it. We’ve listed just the major things, there are other little things: it is kind of dirty (hasn't been cleaned properly), all the kitchen utensils have old grease on it. The oven is badly positioned (can’t be opened as the fridge is in the way). One comment: we were not expecting the most modern house (the photos are real) and aware that the price is fairly low, but there are basic things that have to be guaranteed: cleanliness, privacy (e.g. being able to close the bathroom door), no mold and definitely roof that doesn't leak when it rains. We don't think that it is too much to ask for. To sum up: we don’t recommend renting the place, unless you want to be disappointed.

Nice for a short stay
It’s really nice and cozy. But you have to be aware that it’s up the hill, so you will need a car, the bus or good fitness to get to the apartment. The owners son ,Joao is really nice and always reachable via WhatsApp. He was giving us advice one day to stay home because of heavy rain, that was so nice! One star less with the cleaning, because I think the floor needs to be cleaned wet before a check in. My socks really got dark from it. Therefor I didn’t like to walk there barefoot. TV didn’t work, which was ok, because it only was one day we had to stay in, but I think this should be fixed. Also the WiFi didn’t work properly. Online Videos where always stopped, so I had to turn off WiFi to see them. My friends connection was always interrupted. So most of the time it wasn’t useful to use the WiFi.

Good views
Functional for us. Few comments: Some of the wooden terrace chairs were broken. The bed sheets and pillowcases smelt as if they had been stored for a long time. Musty/damp. The shower needed very precise temperature selection to get warm water from. Quite a few yapping/barking dogs. But on the plus side lovely views from upstairs terrace especially at night. Communication with the owner was very good and to be fair we didn’t mention any of the above as we were only there for 2 nights so we didn’t think it was worth it. Location was fine for us. We downloaded the “Bolt” app (equivalent of Uber) and used them one night to get home which worked very well. We can recommend “Just Go Tours” for an amazing, 8hr, partly off road Landrover tour of the island. Madeira is a very beautiful, special island. Let’s hope it stays that way.
