A month in Madeira

The location of the property is excellent. Close to many points of interest and an exceptional view from the upper balcony. We stayed for 4 weeks, so the proximity to local cafes and small grocery stores was very helpful. The major shopping area and large grocery store was 15.minutes walk. The hill to the centre of town is steep, but we were prepared for that. Madeira is beautiful and Funchal is a fascinating town to explore. This property was a perfect base for that.

Great view and location!

We were so positively surprised! The place is great. Close to the city centre and easy to find free parking nearby :)) But the view... We spent so much time just looking at the sea from the top balcony 😍 Highly recommend:))!!

Convenient property & great host

Our host João was very kind and helpful. The property was very good and was as described in the listing. It included all the facilities that we needed and was located a 10 minute walk away from Central Funchal. All in all it served as a lovely base to explore the rest of Madeira from.

Nice stay

The place is up a hill, and there are some noises, but all in all it was very nice to stay there. Two stages and balconies. Seperatet rooms. Nice ambience and a great view over Funchal. The kitchen has everything you need (the oven could be places better, but it worked for cooking).

Good neighborhood.

Good location, it is up a hill, but thats all Madeira. We drove and found it easy. Nice local cafe a few houses up. If you exit the front and go straight around the building in front there is a small grocery store. Cafes safari. Have a steak sandwich.

Good place for visiting Madeira!

The flat is nice and spacious, located in a very convenient spot on Madeira for getting around the island by car. Aldina's son, João, was extremely kind to us and also recommended good restaurants. The only downside was that the flat was rather minimally equipped. Toiletries and toilet paper would be very useful on the arrival.

Overall, we were very happy

Overall we loved the our stay. A quick walk to the harbor with an amazing view, and easy to drive to and park. It was exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. Make sure to read other reviews as there were a few little things that others have commented on that may have affected our experience had we not been prepared. With an extra roll of TP, some salt and pepper, and maybe another pillow and blanket we would stay here again.

Funchal stay

The apartment is well equiped, with good kitchen facilties and bedroom storage.The 2 outside balconies are well furnished and very useful - good place for drying wet things on first, great views from the top. We had diiner there a few times.The area is mostly very quiet, with the exception of the morning peak traffic and the barkiing dogs. The dogs barked at passersby and when we went onto the lower balcony. They also barked a few times at night, disturbing the whole neightbourhood. I'm a very light sleeper, my husband slept through most of it. There are dogs the world over.the location is very good, about 10 minutes walk down to town, very steep coming back up. there is a bus stop just yards from the front door. Parking is OK but avoid school pick up time around 5pm. Joao was very helpful and provided lots of information.A good place to stay.

Great space and location, but…

Good location within walking distance to many restaurants and attractions. Note for accessibility: it’s a very steep walk up and down the hill to the place (the host warned us about this, which was appreciated). However, the elevation provides a beautiful view of Funchal from the balcony! A few more things to note: There was no soap to do dishes or laundry (even though there is a laundry machine, so we were unable to use these amenities despite planning our packing around this). We let the host’s son, who we were communicating with, know and he apologized for forgetting, but didn’t offer to bring us any. One night, after having left dishes in the sink for the day while we were out, we came back to quite a few bugs around. Some harder to deal with than others. Since we couldn’t do the dishes, we left them (and all food) in the fridge to avoid attracting more bugs during our stay. There was a small dog (chihuahua) downstairs and a few big dogs next door that would bark at all hours and often in the middle of the night for extended periods of time. We had read this on previous reviews, but didn’t think it would bother us. We had our sleep impacted by this, even during the nights we could close the doors (cool enough). Take this into consideration if you are considering this spot. Very basic kitchen for cooking - no oil, condiments, etc. Overall, we enjoyed the location and the amenities, and our general rating reflects this.

We had a very relaxing stay and our host was fantastic. It was our first visit to Madeira. We loved the balcony view - very picturesque with great views of the town and the sea. There was a fully stocked nespresso machine in the kitchen which was a nice touch and our host was very informative on where to eat and places to see. It was great to have beach towels provided. Overall a lovely stay.

Ideal in every way for us. We had a great holiday.The lower rating for family was given thinking of young children and the stairs could be a problem.All interactions with the owners were helpful, informative and punctual.We cooked and ate in some of the time and there was plenty kitchen equipment for that.

Awesome place and great location

Cannot really ask for anything more in a rental property. Great location that is very central to Funchal, amazing balcony with views, nice kitchen and bathroom. The owner is very easy to reach and more than willing to help out with anything. Great price as well.

Great spot

It was really handy for town, and the view from the rooftop terrace was amazing. The house itself was lovely. I think the kitchen could have been better equipped and the fridge not right in front of oven door, the bedding in the second room could do with an upgrade, but overall it was great value for money.

great stay in Funchal

The appartment is nicely located in a not too busy but yet very central area of Funchal. Stunning view from the terrace / balony over the ocean/ harbor and mountains. Owners are very kind, easy to reach out to and super helpful. Will come back if possible.
