What a fabulous location!
Well, that view!!! It’s stupendous. You won’t find a better one on the island. My friend and I spent many happy hours watching the waves crash in (storm out at sea, we presumed) and really didn’t want to leave to catch our flight home.
The house itself is even nicer than in the photos, very clean, welcoming and modern. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is a real bonus.
The kitchen has everything you might need, except a decent kettle (the one provided looked to us like a keep-hot jug). But we happily boiled water in a pan. Problem solved.
A few things to note … the little seafood shack/restaurant close to the house has, we were told, “permanently closed”. That was a real shame. You can go to the Puerta Princess hotel, a few minutes’ drive away, and you can eat at their restaurants if they’re not too busy. In other words, you can’t bank on it.
A little further afield, there’s a fabulous taverna on the beach at Puntalarga, really delicious food there, and very friendly service. And at the salt pans, there’s a top-quality restaurant (formerly Michelin starred). Again, wonderful food and Canary Island dishes to try.
On the other hand, buy food at one of the two supermarkets in Fuencaliente and enjoy them looking at the view from the house! While you’re there, buy bottled water as the supply at the house is not drinkable. If you forget, no problem, as the host kindly leaves three large bottles out for you.
Oh, did I mention the view?!? :)))))
