Our fully furnished mid terraced cottage has superb views across to the mountains at the head of Ennerdale Water.
It is ideally situated for exploring the Western Lakes , the most beautiful being Ennerdale a mere 10 mins by car. Crummock , Buttermere and Loweswater are also within easy reach.
The wonderful beach at St Bees is 15min by car and the harbour town of Whitehaven a 10min drive.
It is a perfect base for walkers , cyclists or those looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings
The house has parking on the road to the front of the property ( on a first come first serve basis ) but always easy to find and there is pedestrian access to the rear via an unmade lane.
On the ground floor is a separate dining room to the front and a cosy lounge at the back. The lounge has a Smart TV with Amazon fire stick and a DVD player with a selection of DVD's. Their is also an Echo Dot and a selection of family games and playing cards.( removed at present due to COVID-19 regs on cleaning)
Off the lounge is a well equipped kitchen and utility room which can be accessed from the lane at the back via the yard. The yard has a tap/hosepipe - very useful for hosing down muddy dogs and boots. Off the kitchen is a downstairs toilet and shower room.
Upstairs are two large double bedrooms one having an en-suite with jacuzzi bath and shower. The front bedroom has superb views over towards Ennerdale Water and the back bedroom has views over the garden to the fields behind the house. Both bedrooms have lovely comfortable double beds that are slightly lower to floor (see photos) than an average bed so be advised if you have mobility issues.
There is a good sized garden to the rear across from the yard with grassed areas and a small pond - care to be taken with small children and dogs although this section of the garden can be closed off from the rest by a small gateway. Their is also an enclosed yard for storing bikes and the C2C cycle path runs very close to the village. There is also picnic backpack for 4 people for guests use (removed at present due to Covid19 cleaning regs)
Interaction with guests
We use the house as our holiday cottage occasionally but will not be there for your stay leaving you free to enjoy the whole house and garden with the exception of a locked cupboard under the stairs in the dining room.
Entry is via a lockbox by the front door and the code will be provided to you before your arrival.
There are some guide books and activity leaflets provided to give you ideas on what to do in the area as well as some local takeaway menus for those days you don't want to cook.
