Formally known as Haussegen Platz, Hummingbird Haus is a beautiful historic property that has been recently renovated and is only 1/2 a block from Marktplatz and 1 block from Main Street! This 2 1/2 story Amish home was built in 1770 in Allentown Pennsylvania and was transferred to its forever home in Fredericksburg in 1988 where it was then restored. The home has maintained its charm containing much of the original doors, hardware, windows, wide plank flooring and ceiling beams.
The Hummingbird Haus is located in the Historic District and Commercial District of Downtown Fredericksburg and is within easy walking distance of Fredericksburg's most popular shops, restaurants, Marktplatz, Museum of the Pacific War and is two doors down from the famous Fredericksburg Pie Company!

Every uniquely designed room has been thought out very carefully with our guests in mind including old antique wood doors as headboards, comfy down comforters and mattresses, box fans in all rooms, makeup vanities and beautiful decor throughout. Sleeping 12, our home offers the space for your large group of friends and family to enjoy your time in Fredericksburg. And the location is unbeatable!!
As you walk into the first floor bedroom, the “Yellow” room, you will be blown away by the original hand painted and stenciled floor and bright décor with two Queen beds, two makeup vanities and a large armoire for hanging up clothes. Also enjoy the assortment of card games while trying not to laugh during “Cards Against Humanity” or “Never Have I Ever”!
The living room is spacious and consists of a large sectional sofa, table and two chairs, beautiful stone fireplace and a 50" Smart TV for streaming ability (No Cable) where you can enjoy a peaceful evening inside taking in the history of the home!
As you walk in the stunning kitchen you will find a large inviting dining table and the original stone fireplace that was used as a wood burning oven! You can see the opening underneath where fire was placed to heat a pot. Such a step back in time! The kitchen is equipped with everything needed to prepare a delicious meal at the house while gathering together including utensils, plates, cookware, spices, microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven, etc. Also enjoy morning coffee at the cute Coffee Bar with an assortment of Keurig coffee pods, creamers and sugars.
Right off the kitchen you will find the laundry room with a Washer and Dryer for your use, detergent, dryer sheets spare lightbulbs and batteries if needed. Adjacent to the laundry room is a cute half bath.
Make your way upstairs to the second floor and to the left you will find Bedroom #2, the “Blue” room, with a Queen bed, Dresser/Mirror and gorgeous vintage ceiling fan/light.
Directly across is the Hall Bathroom with a new sink vanity and large soaking tub; perfect after a long day of shopping!!
Bedroom #3 is the “Pink” room which consists of two Queen beds, makeup vanity/mirror, Dresser/Mirror and large walk in closet. What a lovely room!!
The En suite bathroom has the original vintage yellow decorative shower tile as well as an brand new double sink vanity.
The upstairs spacious Master bedroom is a real treat with brand new carpet, two dressers, small table/chairs, Queen bed and En suite bathroom that has been completely remodeled but designed to flow nicely with the rest of the historic home. It also has a new double sink vanity.
After taking in the history of the home on the inside, have a glass of wine outside on the deck on the Hummingbird bench or red Adirondack chairs while smelling the flowers and taking in the beautiful landscaping in front of the Wildflower Cottage, another beautiful historical home available to rent which was built on the property in 1994 and contains the materials from The Hummingbird Haus!! It’s so peaceful sitting outside in the mornings with a fresh brewed cup of coffee listening to the birds chirping and the buzz of the hummingbirds! Or if you want to grab coffee and breakfast off Main Street since you are already Downtown, Java Ranch Espresso Bar & Cafe is our favorite to walk to!!
Whether visiting Fredericksburg to enjoy Downtown shopping and dining as well as the Nimitz Museum, Museum of the Pacific War and downtown wineries or to venture out to Enchanted Rock, Wildseed Farms or a Winery Tour of all 290 wineries, this is the spot for you! We provide hair dryers, iron and ironing boards as well as Travel size Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash and Soaps for all our guests. Box fans are put in all rooms if desired. All linens and towels are laundered and sanitized for each new guest! All-natural cleaning products from the Melaluca line are used throughout the house to sanitize and clean without using harsh chemicals.
***We encourage all guests to purchase Travel Insurance. The Cancellation Policy will come into effect AS IS if the guest chooses to cancel the Reservation***
***Parking: The cobblestone driveway allows for one car to be parked next to the home. However, DO NOT block the Yellow No Parking Zone or the sidewalk in front of the house or you will be towed***
***Austin St is part of the Commercial District Downtown. Due to it being right off Main St, Parking is on a first come, first serve basis. When you arrive, there may not be parking directly in front of the entrance. However, parking opens up later in the afternoon where you can then claim your spot. ***
