Chateau Cleone is a MENDOCINO SAFE county approved business.
Reverse floor plan, two story home: the living room, kitchen, sunroom, master bedroom with en suite bathroom are on the second floor. Two bedrooms and full bath are on the first floor.
Nightly rate: $275
Weekly rate: $1600
Pet fee: $50/pet for entire stay. 2 pet maximum
Hot Tub fee: $50
Parking: Ample paved parking for 4 or 5 vehicles is available in the carport and driveway for guests.
NO on street parking is allowed.
Current regulations: Maximum occupancy of 6 persons in a single family unit.
NO tents please.

HOT TUB: We are happy to announce that the Hot Tub is again open to our guests. Please do NOT invite others to join you in the tub. Hot Tub fee is $50 for your stay.

Chateau Cleone Redwood Retreat, is just a two minute drive to the beach and MacKerricher State Park. The home is located a short distance off Highway 1 and is landscaped with a variety of north coast trees and plants.

Chateau Cleone is a two-story, well maintained, reverse floor plan, home with three uniquely decorated bedrooms. Upstairs you will find the fully equipped kitchen, living/dining room, sunroom, cable TV with movie channels, large deck with propane BBQ, and the master bedroom with king bed and en suite bathroom. Two bedrooms with queen beds, a shared bath, and laundry facilities are on the ground floor. Additional sleeping accommodations include futons and camp cots. You will enjoy disinfecting products in the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry. A high chair and a booster chair are available for your children.
As per Covid regulations, there are no open containers in the kitchen. There is no ice in the freezer. Bring all your own condiments and please take them with you when you depart.

Enjoy active or quiet ocean and forest experiences from this comfortable, well-appointed home. Enjoy miles of empty beaches, the Haul Road and newly completed Noyo Headlands State Park for walking and biking. Horseback riding, and MacKerricher State Park with its many outdoor educational activities, including whale watching and tide pooling are a two minute drive away.
Drive 15 minutes north to the quaint village of Westport along a truly spectacular stretch of Northern California coastline. Stop at the Pacific Star Winery for a unique wine tasting experience.
Travel three miles south to the old logging town of Fort Bragg and experience its Renaissance of shops, galleries, brewery, restaurants. Fort Bragg is the home of the famous North Coast Brewing Company Taproom and Restaurant.
Don't miss the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden fronting the Pacific headlands for a stroll through unique and truly spectacular coastal landscapes.
The historic artists' village of Mendocino is a scenic 10 mile drive south. Enjoy the galleries, shops, restaurants, and elegant, historically preserved Victorian homes. The breathtaking trails through Mendocino Headlands State Park are perfect for walking, photo taking, and painting.

Chateau Cleone is a 1.5 acre property in a neighborhood of similarly sized or larger properties. Loud voices carry to neighborhood homes at night. It is important to keep the noise down after dark on the upstairs deck and in the hot tub area.

We welcome your well-mannered pet. Please inquire about our pet policy. A pet fee of $50/per pet for your entire stay applies, 2 pet maximum.

Please, absolutely no smoking inside the home.

Other buildings on this 1.5 acre property include an artist's studio and a craftsman's workshop. These buildings are intermittently occupied and may or may not be occupied during your stay. All persons using this property understand and respect the private spaces of others.

I liked this place but the crown jewel, the hot tub in the grove of trees, was inoperable. I tried to call, email, and text the owners but they didn’t get back to me until about a week after I left.

We really enjoyed our stay! Perfect for our family of 5 including 3 teenage boys. The hot tub under the redwoods was our favorite part. Our boys enjoyed the sunroom for gaming . The kitchen is well appointed. The only issue is that the wifi can be spotty. Very close to glass beach . Comfy beds .

A Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!
Our group of 6 adults (plus dog) have rented many places for Thanksgiving over the year, and this was one of the best! Everything was as advertised, and even better than expected - very comfortably laid out and furnished with good quality dishes and cookware; rooms are actually more spacious than they appear in the photos; very clean, and super location. There were even 2 outdoor power outlets so that we could recharge our electric cars (only 110v but still very helpful). The property is very private, quiet, nicely landscaped, and beautifully maintained. And you couldn't ask for a better location, so close to so many fabulous attractions, including the Mendocino Botanical Garden (not to be missed!), beautiful walking trail starting at 10-Mile Beach, and many state parks. Highly recommended!

Another wonderful family visit to Chateau Cleone!
We absolutely love this place! This is our third year in a row and already booked for a fourth for a family vacation! The location is perfect close to beaches and nice little country store, Mckerricher park, sp? Tons of stuff to do or nothing at all to do it is perfect. The house is wonderful with everything you need to stay in or have friends come for a visit. The hot tub, my favorite spot is in the center of a little redwood grove and when you're out there you are in your own little forest.... So much fun every year. Thank you Tim and Kathy for providing such a wonderful home!

Beautiful chateaux in the mountains, close to Ft. Bragg and Mendo
Six of us stayed here for a wedding over a long weekend. The chateaux had a clean, bright, and open feel to the layout, and was perfect in terms of location, had plenty of sleeping / living space, and we took advantage of the hot tub and the common areas both nights. This was an adventure packed weekend, and we spent a great deal of time away from the house, but our downtime at the Chateaux provided the perfect balance. The rocking chairs on the deck were ideal for sipping a drink in the sun, the hot tub is located around the back of the house, in the middle of a grove of huge redwood trees, and the living area was great for nightly acoustic jam sessions. Although we didn't du much cooking this weekend, the house comes with a good-sized fully equipped kitchen. I hope the next people to rent the house enjoy it as much as we did.

Cathedral in the redwoods plus walking distance to coastal dunes and beautiful headlands
Our family, 4 adults and one 8 month old were very comfortable in this property. It was extremely clean and well appointed from the household linens, to comfortable beds, complete kitchen and firewood for the fireplace. Lots of books and games to satisfy all age groups. The hot tub in the cathedral of redwoods was such a treat. We all enjoyed it! We brought our bikes and enjoyed the 5 mile bicycle path along MacKerricher State park to downtown Fort Bragg where there are great eateries, coffee shops (the Headlands) and shops. We stopped by the Sea Glass Beach on our way. We were a bit concerned about the mildew smell in the third bedroom but we didn't need to use it so we were not affected. We appreciated the pack n play but the gate for the stairway was unusable. Fortunately we didn't need it at this time. The laundry came in handy for our little one. The owners were kind enough to mail some forgotten items to us which was much appreciated. We would certainly recommend it except for those unable to climb stairs. This is a beautiful area and well worth the trip. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We had a great time getting away from it all with our best friends and cant wait to do it again!!
Each year we rent a house for a week in the Fort Bragg area along with a small group of longtime friends we don’t get to see often. The house we normally rent had been put up for sale so we took a chance on renting Chateau Cleone and were very pleasantly surprised. The house is set in a beautiful greenscape with lots of succulents and bushes framing it and is backed up to very tall beautiful redwoods that actually encircle the hot tub. The house itself looks like a vacation home you might find at Lake Tahoe with the dark wood siding, a large wonderful deck and bonus wood-stove inside with firewood included. We were happy to find the house well maintained and clean with 3 good sized bedrooms complete with down comforters and fresh linens. There is room in one bedroom downstairs for a cot or futon mattress in the laundry area complete with a door that worked great for our teenage niece. There is also room in the upstairs bedroom for a roll-away bed or cot that is located in the closet. If need be additional cots/sleeping bags could be set up in the area by the wood-stove and the living room. The kitchen is bigger then the galley kitchen in the house we usually rent, so we were very happy about that but still very cozy maybe enough for 2 people to get around in. When more room was needed we used the tables for more counter space to prepare food. If your going to be cooking meals you may need to bring some Tupperware type containers, foil & Ziploc bags. For entertainment we barbecued and lounged on the deck and used the satellite TV music stations. There is also a portable CD player in the storage closet upstairs along with lots of games & tons of books in the living room. Our friends with Verizon had cell phone service, but those of us with AT&T service and had no service unless we walked or drove down to the little Cleone grocery store. Speaking of the store it was well stocked and great for last minute items but a little pricey for a lot of groceries. We really were happy with our stay at Chateau Cleone and plan on renting it again for our future Fort Bragg trips. We would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get away but still have all the comforts of home. Thank you Tim and Kathy for having it available for our enjoyment!!

Stayed for 4 nights. Everything was in very good order. Did not realize this was an older home, probably build in the late 60's or early 70's. Still everything was very functional, despite the lack of water pressure in the kitchen when someone was using the shower. Also, water took awhile to heat up. Also, one had to make sure, as stated in the instructions, not to run the dishwasher and the microwave at the same time, or the breaker would trip, and all electricity on the south side of the house would be out. Unless the repair of this was very cost prohibitive, the property owners might consider fixing this problem. All in all, we had an enjoyable stay. The layout of the house was lovely, with plenty of room to spread out. Very comfortable beds with plenty of covers during cold nights. The hosts were very gracious and responded to all our email enquires.

Simply Wonderful
This place is wonderful! We have stayed here multiple times and plan on staying again as soon as we can! We love the house and the location. You can tell the owners care about their property because they are always doing little upgrades that makes it a more pleasant experience. The beds are crazy comfortable The Wi-Fi works great and the hot tub is spectacular!
