Only a few minutes' walk from the friendly Highland village of Fort Augustus in Scotland's incomparable Great Glen and at the end of Loch Ness, St Machar offers superb comfort. Maximum occupancy of 6 people.
This is an ideal, secluded and tranquil hideaway, standing in its own large, well-tended garden at the end of a cul-de-sac, almost overlooking the famous former Abbey.
Pet friendly (2 dogs maximum) private garden but not secure.
The cottage is light and bright, and kept warm all year round by oil-fired central heating. If modern cottages tend not to go overboard as far as space is concerned, then St Machar is a notable exception. The sitting room is particularly spacious with an impressive range of comfortable seating and a romantic wood-burning stove.
The dining kitchen, while all in one, is the size of two good size rooms, with the well-fitted modern kitchen at one end and the dining area quite separate at the other.
There is also a handy laundry room and a most attractive ‘extra’ in the form of the sunny front porch/sunroom, also with comfortable seating, which looks out on and opens out on to the garden. It makes a most pleasant and peaceful place to relax on a sunny afternoon.
All on one level, there are three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin. The bedrooms are all roomy and pleasingly furnished and one of the double rooms has en suite facilities as well. There is also a stylish and modern family bathroom.
Outside there is parking for up to 3 cars, extensive lawns and a private patio area (with furniture and barbecue). It really echoes the extent of the cottage’s ample accommodation.
