This beautiful quirky straw bale house has all the ingredients for a magical holiday. The house has a rambling quality, which makes it ideal for large groups wanting a special retreat. There are often multi generational family catch ups, which is lovely to see.
We are not suited for events, parties, bucks/hens gatherings, weddings or raucous weekends.
This is a beautiful, peaceful property and we like to provide the country/homely escape away from the noise and bustle of city life, to our guests. You will be welcomed and greeted shortly after your arrival and I'm nearby on the property if needed during your stay.
Set amongst bush, with glorious evening light on the magnificent karri trees, you can relax on the front veranda and listen to the sounds of nature, with kestrels, wagtails, blue wrens and frogs all around.
When the wind comes from the West, you can hear the crashing of the surf on Redgate Beach just over the ridge.
The house has the wonderful insulating qualities of straw - cool in the summer, warm in the winter. A wood heater with firewood provided will ensure your warmth and cosiness whatever the weather!
The house itself is spacious, with several living areas. Wifi, 2 TVs, a fully equipped kitchen, with plentiful good quality pots, pans and appliances, an enormous marri wood dining table, beautiful lead-light windows and comfortable beds.
There are 6 large bedrooms - 5 with queen beds (one is on a loft), and a 6th bedroom with twin beds. The enormous upstairs lounge can be closed off to be a 7th bedroom with mattresses to make up beds on the timber floor.
There are 3 bathrooms with loos, so no need to queue!
There is a table tennis table in the back games room/shed at the back of the house..
A short drive down Redgate Road takes you to the wonderful beaches of Redgate, or head to the bright lights of Margaret River only 15 minutes away. The prestigious wineries, Arlewood, Leeuwin Estate, Voyager Estate, Xanadu, Cape Mentelle and Redgate are 5 minutes away.
Activities
Walk some of the Cape to Cape, or bring your mountain bikes for a blast through the famous Margaret River trails. There is a local surf school, and plenty of wind-surfing or kite surfing. Fishing, whale-watching, caving, rock-climbing or abseiling - everything is within easy reach. Take a Winery Tour, climb the Leeuwin Lighthouse - whether you want to fill your days with activity, or nothing at all - this is the place to do it!
LEAVERS and young adults - We do accept younger crews, but under some fairly stringent conditions. We've been very pleased with most of our younger groups, and believe in giving them a fair go. There will be a returnable bond payable of $100 each. This is to be paid in cash on arrival and will be returned in cash on your departure after a satisfactory inspection of the house by ourselves. Our number policy of a maximum 15 people is firm with this age group.
