Overlooking Old Town yet In a Secluded Forest Setting

This unique property sits in a secluded forest setting high above Old Town and the Siuslaw River bridge. It offers complete privacy yet is just a short walk to the shops, restaurants, harbor, and other attractions of Old Town. Go down a forest path to arrive at the high dunes overlooking the Siuslaw River, Florence, and the Ocean. You do have to climb the dunes, which is challenging.

The house comes with two bedrooms upstairs with an adjoining deck that overlooks the forest and a gives you a peek at Old Town; there is another bedroom downstairs. All beds are Queen size. The paneled great room has multiple view windows and comes with a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, and a pellet stove. There is high speed internet and a large TV in the living room area. There is a laundry area with a washer and dryer. A deck with outside seating and a gas barbeque is located off the great room. There is a lawn with a great big fire pit surrounded by log benches and plenty of firewood. Surrounding it all is the virgin forest.

A little R&R
This is our second stay. My husband and I love this house! It is absolutely peaceful. The dogs love it. We like to go to just unplug and spend time together. The only thing missing was a plug for the tub.

Clean, Private, comfortable although the driveway should be paved so a car can get up the steep driveway it took us 3 times in the car but if you have a truck or 4x4 you will be fine!!

This little house was great. So beautiful and secluded in the forest. The only scary part was the drive in. The hill to get there is very steep and dirt. You have to get a running start.

Water pressure was too weak to switch from the tub faucet to the shower head. Last four days the water went out completely. We had to grab the shovel and do our business in the woods.

Peaceful retreat
We had a great time at this rustic coastal home. If you are the type of person that wants to gripe about low water pressure, creaking stairs or raccoons on the porch in the middle of the night, book a different place. This place is country and reminds me of my roots. Support staff was responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back

Phone numbers on email need to be updated on who to contact when trying to check in or ask questions. Cleanliness- i must say super impressed much cleaner than my previous stay.! Wifi connection wasnt great. Overal enjoyed our stay. Area & location very secluded, but everything is near by. Stores dunes restaurants.

It was in a wonderful location. Enjoyed lots of great walks. Beds were comfortable. House was cute. Hard to get ahold of owners. They promised they would bring pellets up for stove and failed to come back. Never returned phone call and text.

This is what I was looking for!
I love your home! This is exactly what I came here for this Fall/Winter. Dark, wet, lush forest. Of course, when the sun is this low in the sky, it makes for a pretty cold, dim day, but!, that’s why this place is the treasure that it is! Next time I am in Florence, I will stay here if it’s available. This is my 6th visit to Florence. I will return!

Deeply frustrated
I wish I could say I enjoyed this stay like I have in the past this was the 3rd year in a row we have booked this home, and never had an issue till this time around. ! No water the first night we arrived at 6pm. 8PM came around and lost water... tried to get ahold if someone it was difficult. Didnt get water till we got back next evening around 6pm.... had water the rest of the day/night/ half morning. Go on about our day go to the dunes. Come back thinking everything was good, only to find out NO WATER once again. Contactated the owner and no response... sad to say this is the last we book this place 😕 afraid we will run across other issues next..... we pay for a home to have comfort... yet we struggled the whole stay. Didnt go book a hotel since it ment we would have paid double $$ Must i say we didnt get any reimbursement or other accommodations of some sort. ....

No-contact owner...Wasn't able to check in :(
I had high hopes for this stay, but unfortunately the host was completely unavailable for us to check in. The instructions gave us three different phone numbers to contact but two were out of service and the third gave no response. Contacting customer service (who was awesome by the way) they got the same result, so we unfortunately had to book another place for the night. Outside in the forest there was some trash around, but inside looked clean, so if you are able to get in touch with the host I'd imagine the stay would be nice...book at your own risk I suppose??

The property was beautiful an older house. The kitchen needs coffee, oil, a vege steamer, more large preparation bowls and a cutting board. We washed everything before we used it. The house smelled like dog, probably in the rugs and upstairs carpet which did not look or smell clean. also no screens on the sliding glass door or windows except in master upstairs. No fans in ceiling or free standing to help with air circulation. couldn't open windows or slider because of flying insects. Very low water pressure in a very small bathroom, as well as in the kitchen. No place to set anything in the bathroom. It was a very expensive place to stay and I would not recommend it or stay there again.

SCAM Stay Away! Owner Unresponsive, Couldn’t access Property
Instructions on this booking were to call the owner and they would meet me at a nearby store and give me the keys. I started calling several hours before checkin to arrange a meet time and left 2 voicemails. The other number listed had been disconnected. I left another voicemail at a third number listed. No one ever returned my call. I drove to the property to see if they happened to be there and they were not. I never was able to get ahold of anyone and I had to find another place to stay at the last minute after driving many hours. In the reviews I see this had happened to someone else as well. THIS PROPERTY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE LISTED ON VRBO. VRBO now tells me it will take seven business days to refund my money. Seems like a nice scam.

We wanted to love this property as the grounds are wooded and quiet. We arrived the day before Thanksgiving to meet up with family. Upon first entering the Livingroom was clean and looked comfortable but upon cutting away groceries we soon discovered the kitchen was not clean. The stove was absolutely covered in grease and old grime so badly in fact the oven started smoking when we turned it on. I had to stop putting away groceries to clean up the stove top which was also caked with old grease. I soon discovered the kitchen is not properly supplied for cooking. There was not even a cutting board and any dishes we needed to use had to be washed first. It was bad. Then when my brother went to start a shower for my little nephew he found there were hairs (pubic and otherwise) all over the tub and shower. Had all hotels not been sold out in the area we would have left at that point. I then checked the bedrooms and beds to see if the sheets were at least clean and they were so we went ahead and stayed as we didn't have any other choice beside driving home 3.5 and 5.5 hours away late at night. The night we arrived I messaged the property owner and was told "Sorry about that. Enjoy your stay." To arrive and have to start cleaning other peoples filth and grime is not the way I want to start any trip but to have to pay a "cleaning fee" on top if it is ridiculous. This could be a great little property but it definitely needs some maintenance and a professional cleaning crew.

Older, no view, very steep driveway & working on it when we arrived,& no key in lockbox on arrival. Owner didn't remember booking it but showed up at 4:00 and the cleaners came about 4:15pm, after we arrived, to clean the house. Later we found a large roast in the oven with mold all over it. House was older but furniture was comfy, had good heart system, no dishwasher but we survived.

I wish i had it in me to give this place a terrible review. That would be for selfish reasons. Great little house in the woods under 10 minutes from everything. I was apprehensive after reading other reviews, rental car company messed up and gave me a little carolla instead of an SUV. Carolla got up the driveway just fine, no problems with the water or water pressure, property manager was great, price was perfect for what i got, dryer was swapped out the day i arrived, it was a great vacation. If you dont like peace and quiet stay away from this place Cant wait for my next visit!

Beautiful woods
We enjoyed staying at this house with our dog, surrounded by beautiful woods. We enjoyed downstairs patio and a deck upstairs as well as a seating area with a fire pit. At night you can see the lights of the old town through the trees. There are many excellent places to eat a few minutes away right across the bridge. We also enjoyed Darlings marina restaurant : amazing hamburgers and bbq. Safeway is close by. We had no issues with water and all appliances work. Our bed was comfortable. We would stay there again.
