Great location
This hotel was in a great location for getting around town. It does have stairs up to check in, and stairs to your room... no lift. The room was spacious with a great patio area to sit on in the evening. We had a room with 2 beds which was fabulous. The air conditioning worked great. Only downfall was that we could hear every sound from others in the hall. Breakfast was good.

Not the Best but Good Location
This hotel only satisfies your basic needs; a bed, shower and toilet. Luxury is far from this place. Mould was growing in the bathroom, rusty showerheads and taps. The walls are very thin so you can hear all your neighbours next door, unfortunately we had loud teenagers. The good thing about this place was friendly staff and the location was great for walking distance.

Great location
Room was clean, breakfast (included) was adequate and staff was excellent. There were quite a lot of stairs and no elevator, which could be a drawback depending on your situation. Only other issue we encountered was that the rooms did not seem very sound proof. Based on the noises we heard from next door, we decided to abstain. Overall, was a positive experience in a beautiful city.

lovely staff, clean room, fantastic location
I stayed with my wife and seven year old daughter and was expecting a shabby, run down establishment. However, although the hotel offers basic accommodation (after all, it is a 2 star hotel) I enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly and really helpful, the room was pleasant and it was cleaned daily and the location is fantastic. Of course, if you wish for luxuries, this isn't the place for you. But for me, it was great place that I would return to.

Great for the price, Excellent customer service!
I'd call it more of a bed and breakfast, staff was very accommodating and helpful. They offered a map and plenty of tips to navigating the city. Very convenient location, and the breakfast was good. The beds weren't amazing, but at that price it doesn't matter.. Most importantly though was the ICE cold Air conditioning! Would definitely stay again.

on the fence...
I'm on the fence about whether I would recommend this hotel or not, here's why: To start with the good...the hotel is situated very conveniently within florence -it's close enough to walk to from the train station and you can walk just about anywhere from it (we didn't have to use transit or cabs at all) and then there is the price which for the location is excellent. Plus the owner is very nice and hard working (he's there all the time). Getting to the bad...the room that we stayed in (a double with private bathroom) was in desperate need of updating, it was small, uninviting and really quite depressing with bare white walls that were screaming out for a paint job. We were not able to get hot water in the morning -it wasn't cold but luke warm just didn't cut it and the towels and bedding were paper thin. Take from this what you will, as I said I'm on the fence :)

Great location
The location was amazing. The bed linens and towels were sparkling clean. The hotel was in some disrepair. The shower drain was somewhat clogged. The carpet was stained and torn. We had the room right by the breakfast room and it was loud. The hotel had late check-in and a great location which is how we made the decision to stay here. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Great hotel!
I needed a place to stay for one night after my study abroad housing contract ended. I found this hotel on Expedia. It was great! I went the night before to try and find it since I get lost easily. It is on a little side street. If you start seeing street names like Purgatory and Limbo, you're in the right area. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The man working the desk (I think he is the owner) carried my large bag up the stairs for me. The hotel was very secure, with a locked front door for extra security. The room was small, but I was only going to be in there to sleep before my flight out, so it was fine for me. The bed was a full size, which surprised me (I was expecting a single). Everything was very clean. The windows looked brand new. The bathroom was small (European style), but don't let that turn you off -- it had the best shower water pressure I have ever experienced! It felt like I was getting a scalp massage! I wish I could have stayed for breakfast, because it looked like a nice breakfast room and setup, but my flight was very early in the morning. Oh, and there was free WiFi that was surprisingly fast, even faster than the WiFi I had in my student apartment in Florence. I have stayed in a quite a few hotels around Europe, and for someone on budget like me, this is one of the best! If I need a place to stay in Florence again, I would definitely stay here at Hotel Esperanza!

Decent little place close to rail station
My overall experience was correct. The man who holds this little hotel is very friendly and seemed like he worked quite a few hours everyday. It was close enough to the rail station which made it easier and convenient. The location was good as well, in a quiet strret. I had a good night sleep. The bathroom was fairly small but ok for only me and only one night. I travel light and on a budget so this place was correct for one night. It was ok clean. The carpet could have been vacuumed but that is why I carry sandals. So the overall price versus quality was ok. I supposed for Firenze that was one of the cheapest place I could find and I slept well afterall. I would recommend this hotel only if you are spending one night and are in transit.

hotels.com and hotel were not on the same page.
I travel from north carolilna to itally for the first time, for my honeymoon. we booked this hotel thru hotels.com I had a confirmation # and everything. when i got to the hotel the owner told me he has no such confirmation and has never used hotels.com to get people to book in his hotel. pretty scary being a whole continent from home and not knowing if I would be able to find a place to sleep.

Central hotel
Simple pension style hotel very close to all the attractions. It is basically just 1-2 stars so don't expect luxury, but otherwise fine. Breakfast extremely basic but coffee excellent! Pleasant owner. My only negative was eating in the closest restaurant (Coco Lezzone) which looks like a cheap, homely place, but was actually quite expensive and condescending with it!

If you plan to stay more than one night choose a more expensive hotel. No air conditioning in the room... The hotel is old and not renovated. Overall for the price paid the hotel was ok.

This hotel advertised parking garage. It is in an alley off Gucci Row and the location can't be beat. The man running it was very nice, but the hotel was very old and small. It was almost impossible to find and the parking garage charged 29 Euro. This on top of the room rate of 60 Euro. We actually could not get out fash enough in the morning.

Way too loud.
This hotel definitely has pros and cons. Basically the only pro is that it's so close to the action and the Piazza Della Repubblicca is a one minute walk away. However, this hotel is situated in a small street off a main road. It's right above a parking garage and a mechanic so don't go to this hotel if you're looking to get a good night's rest. It's extremely loud and I barely slept a wink. The breakfast was all packaged and not so great. I couldn't wait to leave in the morning.

We found this hotel to be very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for Claudio the owner. The hotel is basic but clean ,fresh towels every day, as we Brits like!! We had outside balcony overlooking rooftops of Florence. FAB. The hotel is right on the doorstep of the old Florence, our 4 days were great, and we will be going back to the Hotel Esperanza. Finally a huge big thank you to Claudio in making our stay enjoyable and sharing his knowledge with us about Florence.

Average Hotel but great proximity to key sites
This hotel is extremely basic but for the price it is in an excellent location and walking distance to everything. It is a little difficult to find inititally but overall decent place to stay. The owner is extremely nice and helpful and there is free wifi at the hotel also which is really nice!

I would definitely stay here again!
While this hotel is older and the rooms very basic in design and comfort, the customer service, location and price can't be beat! Owner Claudio made me feel as if I was staying with family, and that went a long way, especially being a single woman traveling alone. He was extremely accommodating allowing me to check my bags in early, eat breakfast later one day and always helpful in recommending tours, restaurants, etc. The rooms are very basic in design but clean and the breakfast is continental. This is not a luxury hotel, however, the location is extremely convenient to all the major attractions and neighborhoods of Florence, and if customer service is important to you, than it certainly rivals the best hotels. I would highly recommend this hotel!
