"What a fantastic hotel right in the centre of matera. The rooms were wonderful and the staff very helpful. A word to drivers getting tit he hotel can be a little stressful as the roads are very narrow and confusing. The restricted zone signage is the worst but ignore it as the hotel sorts the issue out with local police. "

"Quaint little hotel within the beautiful town of Matera with original features. A perfect little, ancient Italian town and we fell in love with the cobble streets, winding paths and amazing views. Bring trainers and wear comfy clothing as you will do a lot of walking to take in all the sites "

"This was a "blow the budget" trip for me and I was not disappointed. The hotel is built into caves and has fantastic views of the city and over the ford (you can walk over). My room (a cave in itself) was huge, a large jacuzzi in the centre (would likely accommodate 4 people) and a modern wet room at rear, decor and lighting was perfect. The restaurant was also built into cave, was beautiful. Staff eager to assist and pleasant to chat to. Overall, fantastic - 1 minor criticism, the water in jacuzzi was not warm, no doubt refreshing in the sweltering summer but uninviting in a cooler October! Did mention to staff and it was being inspected when I left. Formidable place, thank you. "

"We absolutely loved everything about our stay - the beautiful rooms, the stunning spa, the delicious and generous breakfast, and the spectacular surrounds. We felt totally spoilt for our stay. We parked about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, in a parking building (€1 per hour), which was handy enough to the hotel. Highly recommend!"

"One of our favorite cities and hotels on our Italian vacation. The cave room is beautiful, clean and quiet with modern details. The shower is awesome and heated towel bars were a plus. Breakfast is very nice and they have a bar that opens in the evenings at 5. All is very convenient to walking the sasso. They will arrange for a cab upon arrival or departure if you're taking a bus or train, so reach out as the walk from the main city piazza is far with luggage. Great restaurants nearby."

"We didn’t get the bottle of wine and we forgot to ask for it. However, the hotel, the room and location was stunning. Specially the people who work at the hotel, they were wonderful! All of them were kind and friendly. We even met the owner whom was very kind and attentive to all our needs. I’d come back for next time. Kudos to Giuseppe for his time and recommendations!"

"This property deserves a big thumbs up. Cave rooms were very well designed with a lot of attention to detail (lights, candles, custom shower gels). Breakfast was one of the best I had recently with a lot of local cheese and fruits instead of banal buffet items. Ricotta was simply amazing. Staff was polite and helpful. I would definitely stay again. The only recommendation I would give is that since each room is unique I would put each room and its images separately instead of room category. "
