It's lovely and the music was composed by our home's early owner, Henry D. Tovey!
Built in 1900 by notable citizen Lafayette Gregg, The Tovey House is a unique home with rich historical significance to the University of Arkansas and Northwest Arkansas.
Henry D. Tovey was a highly influential and historic figure who was dubbed a 'Renaissance man' of the times. Recognized as one of America's top professional pianists in the early 1900s, Tovey served as the University of Arkansas' music department chair (1908-1933). Although Tovey made numerous contributions to the community, Arkansas and nationally, he is most remembered for writing the music for two beloved traditions at the U of A still played today: the U of A 'Alma Mater' and Razorback athletics 'Arkansas Fight Song'.
During your stay, you can learn about Professor Tovey’s numerous significant contributions through the photo mural and historical documents!
