This whole experience can be summed up in one word, greed. When I booked this listing, I saw it was listed at a specific amount per night. It wasn’t until my card was charged that I realized there were fees associated with the rental that exceeded the nightly fee. I also noticed that it had only booked 2 nights of my trip instead of 3 nights, which is what I was originally trying to book. The host was zero help, they offered me 50$ for a 5star review. No mention of trying to correct the booking. When I tried to cancel, which was about 8-10 hours after I had booked it, the host said my booking had likely prevented others from booking and he wasn’t willing to take the loss. I would’ve paid for an extra night even, but the unwillingness to do the right thing and charge me for the room/cleaning fee/ and host fee is akin to stealing in my opinion. I didn’t stay at this property, and I wasn’t given the option to cancel. When I received the original booking confirmation, it stated clearly that I had 48 hours to cancel to get a full refund. I assume that they will charge me a cleaning fee even though there was nothing for them to clean. I am thoroughly disappointed with this whole experience. Truth be told, had the fees been bundled together with the nightly fee, I would have paid for it. It’s not about the cost, it’s more about the lack of transparency.
