"Was the lovely ground floor area of a larger chalet, with the owners living upstairs. The chalet is located near the top of a small village on a winding country lane, so be aware, if you are coming in the winter you may find this challenging to get up! But it was beautifully peaceful and at the start of a walk either down to get a lovely glimpse of Lake Annecy or up (which we didn't try) towards the rough peak standing above you. "We had two really excellent weeks at the apartment in the house in St Martin de Bavel. Although we enjoyed some agreeably quiet relaxing times in the garden looking out into the dramatic vista of Grand Colombier with a cold glass of local wine, we spent most of our time out and about. The surrounding countryside is dramatic, the ViaRhona cycle route is unchallenging (unless you do it as we chose to in 37° heat in which case it was extremely challenging) and there are many large and small towns...
