Private mountain getaway with huge views on 10 wooded acres! The property is nestled among mature timber, with a creek running through the backyard. Most days, you'll get to see moose :)

The main house has 3 bedrooms 3.5 baths and a loft with an office with plenty of room for a Queen sized air-mattress (provided). The garage is HEATED and there are 2 additional bedrooms - no bathroom in the garage - so we call it the bunk room. There's a large room with 3 Queen sized beds, USB charging nightstands, and a Roku TV. Wifi does extend to the garage! The smaller bedroom has a Full sized bed and a twin bed.

We have 9 total beds, a Queen Airmattress, pack & play, 3 sofas, and bedding/pillows to sleep up to 20 guests (recommend 16 adults, 4 children).

Starlink wifi, hot tub, covered deck & patio, pool table, Bluetooth Soundsystem.

Watch the sunrise over Pike's Peak, sunset over Pennsylvania Mtn, and views of the Milky Way at night :) *Be sure to turn off house lights and you'll likely see shooting stars from the hot tub or back patio!

Other things to note: Must have AWD vehicle to access the home Nov-April, no refunds given if you get stuck. Snow Tires & chains recommended - Please familiarize yourself with Mountain Driving. The home is located on a gravel county road and we can not guarantee how often it is plowed. The driveway is plowed after 6" accumulation overnight.

Pet fee of $150 applied for up to 2 pets/stay. Additional pets must be approved.

Perfect wedding location
We had the handfast ceremony aka old wedding of our dreams at this cabin. The space for everyone to have there own rooms for the days befor the wedding. The entertainment basins the beauty of the mountains surrounding you. The little fox friends that come to visit you, all the beautiful wild life. Our wedding and time at this cabin was literally magical and perfect. The owner is fast responding and amazing to work with. Overall so happy we choose the mangy moose to stay!

The house was beautiful and well stocked. There are excellent amenities in the house (hot tub, pool table, games, puzzles, etc) The beds were comfortable as well which was a bonus. We would stay there again.

Wonderful experience
These hosts helped us in an unfortunate change of events and were absolutely wonderful in accommodating our group. Very easy to communicate with and their responsiveness was very timely. We hope to visit again in the future!!! The actual house was fabulous and extremely well stocked and cozy!!

Destination Wedding
A beautiful home to host our friends and family for our destination wedding. We spent a couple of days playing games, hot tubbing and making meals together. We ended our stay with a gorgeous outdoor wedding with the background of colorful trees and open sky! Our hosts communicated well and were friendly. We were welcomed with beautiful flowers and a gift for our wedding. Above and beyond the norm. Fully stocked home. Would return in a heart beat!!

Mountain oasis
We absolutely loved our stay at this wonderful mountain oasis. We had a large group for a family reunion, and tge home fit all of us perfectly. It was clean and comfortable with stunning views. We really enjoyed the hot tub and watching the sun rise from the upper deck. I can't wait to book another stay here next summer.

Beautiful location with lots of room!
We had 16 furefighter wives stay for a wonderful weekend! The kitchen was fully stocked and the layout worked so well to accommodate us all. We didn't get to see any wildlife but the view of Pikes Peak was pretty neat! Hope to return again soon!

Peaceful mountain getaway!
My friends and I had a great time at the Mangy Moose. It was well stocked and had great amenities, as well as a beautiful view. We saw quite a few moose. The hosts were very communicative and flexible which was very helpful! I would happily return to this home in the future.

Amazing stay!
This place was the perfect getaway tucked into the mountains. We saw a lot of wildlife, including a moose right when we pulled up to the house. Kia was so friendly and checked in with me throughout our entire stay. We didn't want to leave! I would highly recommend this property.

The service was astounding
We stayed here Thanksgiving weekend and had a great time. The customer service and the small details made the difference. They provided medicine, extra towels, air mattresses and all cooking items you would need. They really thought about their guests and it showed. I would definitely come back!

The house was awesome. It was probably the best stocked home we have ever rented. Our family enjoyed the hot tub, and we saw moose a couple of times. Our kids want to rent again next year. The owner was quick to respond to any questions we had, and made check in very easy.

Great time at the Mangy Moose
The property was very well setup for entertaining a large group! It was very comfortable with many places to hang out as a group or escape for quiet time or a nap. We liked how the house sat close to the valley with the neighboring houses up higher near the road. It felt like we were very secluded. We saw moose, deer, and many other forest animals from the back deck. Overall we had a great time and the house was fantastic.

this home is located on a beautiful property with views of the mountains, as well as moose. The hot tub is located in a perfect situation to view the trees as well as the mountains. The home is well equipped. The hosts were available and responded quickly to questions and assisted throughout our stay. I would return to this home in the future.

Reunion
We do a college football reunion ski trip every March. This place has everything you would possibly need. Pool Table, hot tub, and views with wonderful people. Place. came fully stocked with all the essentials. Very easy drive to breck. We had a blast and will definitely stay here again. Host were very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. Zero issues during our 3 night stay!

Secluded Wedding Weekend
We had the most beautiful stay and the most beautiful small intimate wedding ceremony and celebration here. We arrived on December 1st and it started snowing. It snowed the entire weekend and while it was too windy to do a ceremony outside, we made due with the beautiful living room with tons of natural light from the windows. It was a wonderful weekend! The hosts were very quick with responding to questions about snow plows so we could leave on time without any issues. We highly recommend staying here, it’s the perfect cozy getaway!

Spacious Mountain Home
We had a group of 18 people and two dogs. Youngest person was 16. We were very comfortable in the house and never felt like we were in each other’s way. The house is spacious and beautiful. The kitchen and the house overall is very well stocked. Everything we needed was already there. The hosts were professional and personal. There were a lot of small, thoughtful extras that made the stay that much better. Soon after check-in, the hosts unobtrusively checked to see if we needed anything and when we did reach out, they responded immediately, even when it was late at night.

Villalobos Getaway
Absolutely stunning. The house was great. Fully stocked on basics plus the forget me box was a huge help. The drive up is bumpy so make sure to listen to Kia. Rent a n suv if needed. Wildlife was unreal. My husband saw a baby moose being chased by 3 wolves. He whistled and it was able to get away. Momma moose chased the alpha wolf away. Never thought we would see something like that. Chipmunks visited us daily. Sitting on the back porch watching it all was the best. It was quiet and dark at night. Great sleep. We brought our kids and grandkids and they loved it. Lots of toys there for the babies and games for the bigger kids. I could go on about how wonderful it was... Dont miss your chance to stay here. You will be happy you stayed.

Best vacation ever
After seeing all the 10/10 reviews on VRBO, I had to say I was skeptical. But after arriving at this cabin, I realized why all the reviews were so good. We have stayed at a lot of properties over the last 8-10 years, and this is by far the best stocked cabin we have ever stayed in. It had everything that we needed, and was labeled very well to be able to find things without looking all day. The view of the surrounding mountains is amazing, and the cabin itself is truly a beautiful home that we have enjoyed thoroughly over the last several days. We saw moose almost every day when we would go to town, and the owners were the best I have ever experienced at communicating with us to answer questions or make sure the cabin was running perfectly (even on the weekend!). It sounds like a sales pitch, but this cabin and it's owners truly stand out as one of the best experiences we have had with VRBO ever. Our family is very thankful that we were able to stay here, and I look forward to returning in the summer or fall to see the area again. 10/10 all day long!!

Wonderful home, lot, views, finishing, extras….absolutely great! Note: it is a good 40 min drive to Breckenridge and this property is out in the middle of the mountains that REQUIRES a 4WD in the winter. No “quick trip” to the grocery store. But if you plan ahead, this is absolutely better than staying “in town” and not missing out on all this place offers. We’re planning to go back this summer. Again, just prepare ahead of time with shopping to do meals at home and you won’t even want to leave this place other than a trip to the slopes or tube hills in Break for a day. Hosts is SUPER quick and good with communication. I was very impressed with it on many different levels! A number of little complains about things that could have been better, but remember you’re renting out a place in the middle of the Rocky Mountains, so come on! Overall: very happy and will be renting it out again without hesitation.

My family and friends had a wonderful stay at the “Mangy Moose”!! You definitely need four-wheel-drive for winter months! It was so much fun driving up to the house! They have a heated garage big enough for two vehicles . We saw Moose every day we were there! The home is fully stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay! The hot tub was a big hit after long days of skiing! The sunrise in the mornings are amazing! The deck is incredible! Every room has their own thermostat, so guests can adjust accordingly. The home is only 16 miles from Breckenridge ski resort & plenty of options for dining & groceries in Fairplay/Alma. The owners were very responsive with any questions! If you’re looking for a real mountain home experience, this is the one!
