Mountain View Retreat

Exclusive garden level retreat in the peaceful coastal hills of Marin County. Private entry French doors open to expansive decks, magnificent views, large infinity pool, hot tub, steam shower & gas barbecue grill. 2 Flat-screen cable TV's, with premium channels, (living room & bedroom). High-speed Wi-Fi internet throughout. Central location for easy access to San Francisco, Sonoma/Napa wine country, Pacific Coast beaches, spectacular Redwood forests, and endless miles of hiking & biking trails.

"Mountain View Retreat" and everything shown in the photos, including the pool, hot tub, and the expansive decks, are all located on the lower garden level of a two story home. Guests will have exclusive access to everything described and seen in the photos. The retreat is for your use alone during your stay. The upper level "main house" is owner occupied but has been closed off from the lower level to provide maximum privacy.

The bedroom has a luxuriously comfortable king size bed with soft high thread count linens. The galley kitchen is well appointed with all new Keurig coffee maker, microwave oven, four burner gas range, a small refrigerator/freezer, blender, toaster and a range of cookware, utensils, cups and glassware. Coffee, tea and a few basics are also provided. There are also plenty of fresh towels including large beach towels for the pool.

Please note: there is a short set of stairs that take you to your front door, so wheelchair access is not available.

Beautiful view, very close to town. Great location!!! Road is a bit tricky to get up to house, definitely need to go slow and pay attention for oncoming cars. Host was great, really didn’t require much while there since we were doing a lot of sightseeing.

Amazing location and quiet! Close enough to San Francisco (about 45 minute drive) to enjoy the sites during the day and enjoy a quiet evening/night away from the hustle and bustle. Relaxing in the hot tub and the shower/sauna at the end of the day was amazing! Vicki was very attentive to any questions we had prior and during our stay.

vicki’s place is a gem. unbelievable views. i came right after some major storms in the area, so there were some issues getting everything back up to snuff, but vicki was very responsible and took care of everything. if you’re looking for a place to recuperate from too much huddle and bustle, this is a real gem

Amazing view. Was perfect for us.
We had four nights at Mountain View Retreat. The property was in a great location with great proximity to all the places we wanted to go. Beaches, town and Sonoma. The bed was very comfortable and the steam shower was amazing. The best part of the property was the outdoor area and the pool; the views where spectacular. The neighbors were very quiet. Vicki was easy to communicate with and responsive. The road to the house was challenging, but we got used to it!

Great Place to Relax
We came out here from the East Bay for a low-key weekend trip. We swam every day and stargazed in the hot tub every night. Saw the tail end of the Perseids shower and a meteor so low we thought it might actually touch down. Hard to find a place with a mix of excellent food 5 minutes from vibrant wildlife but Fairfax has got it. Would definitely stay again.

As beautiful as the pictures
We had the best time at the Mountain Retreat! The pool and view from it is just stunning, and the porch is perfect for an afternoon charcuterie board. As others have mentioned, it's a windy and narrow way up! However, the drivers are quite cautious and my husband and I felt comfortable enough walking down into town along the road.

Wonderful Secluded Space for Romantic Getaway
We had a wonderful time at Vics property! The place was beautiful and in the most beautiful setting. I wish we could have used the pool, but was too cold. Loved the coziness of the space, the steam shower was amazing, the jacuzzi under the stars, impeccable landscaping and the cute little family of raccoons who visited every night! BUT, what I appreciated the most was how warm, accommodating, and quick to respond Vic was. We will definitely try to get back to stay again!

We have stayed at several rentals in Fairfax and this is our favorite. It is the downstairs level of a larger house and the upstairs is also available for rent, but the owner doesn't rent both at the same time, so you never have to share the amazing deck, hot tub and pool with other guests. Downstairs is nice because you can walk right out onto the big deck and enjoy the hot tub. There is even deck access directly from the bathroom so you can go between the shower and hot tub without dripping water everywhere. We didn't try the pool because the water was too cold to use in the winter. Inside, it has everything you need, including a well-stocked kitchen. The location is close to downtown Fairfax but I would be scared to walk down the narrow winding road into town. Overall, a great place for couples to stay when visiting Fairfax.

a little slice of heaven!!
We had the most wonderful time at Vicki's beautiful property. Every aspect of this home is outstanding. The kitchen is fully equipped although we mostly had food delivered, the living room and dining room are small but cozy, the outside patio is large and so inviting, the bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was fabulous! but the absolute best thing about Vicki's place is the view overlooking the infinity pool that absolutely took our breath away! We had lazy mornings by the pool or on the beautiful patio, then we would go and explore the surrounding area.... we hiked Mount Tamalpais which you can see from the pool! we visited some wineries, had a lovely long walk at Point Reyes, drove some of Route 1 and visited cute little towns but always made sure we were back to enjoy a few hours by the pool every afternoon with a cocktail. It was our favorite part of the day! We enjoyed our stay so much, it truly is a little slice of heaven. We hope to return again one day!

Lovely and quiet getaway
We stayed at this property in April for a week-long getaway. The property is gorgeous with fantastic mountain views. We stayed in the downstairs unit. The vintage look and feel of the decor made everything very warm and inviting. That was very comfortable and made for good night's sleep. Outside there is furniture under a covered deck for you to lounge on. The pool was too cold for us to use but the infinity pool gave great views to the mountainside below the location is in acquaint town of Fairfax. One thing to be mindful of is the challenging drive up and down the mountain to get to the home. The road is a two-way road that is barely wide enough for one car. When someone comes the other way you have to be creative on how to get by them. At night up near the house are a pair of deer that seem to have no fear of anybody. Overall, I would highly recommend this home for a couple's getaway.

Magical retreat in the hills
This spot is a complete gem. The grounds are immaculate, peaceful and designed so you can just relax and be still. Yet, the town center is a mere 15 minute walk and has lots of wonderful restaurants, charming shops and an incredible coffee shop. Within 30 minutes you can be hiking among the redwoods or hanging out in Berkeley/Oakland area. We would absolutely come back again. The space, amenities and location make this one of the best rentals we've ever stayed at. Thank you so much!

Amazing Vacation
First off, the property is exactly as described with stunning views of the mountainside from the infinity pool, relaxing hot tub, comfortable living spaces and quiet and humble surroundings. Vicki was great, although we didn't interact much, it was clear that she wanted to allow us our space and enjoy our vacation. She was there if we needed her, but respected our privacy. Check in was great - no problems and Vicki provided good detailed instructions! The home itself was spectacular. I knew the view and amenities were going to be great from prior reviews, but what I didn't expect was the minor details of the home that I would come to respect so much! The unique door handles, stained glass and the bedroom door were a few of my favorites. It just added a uniqueness to the space. I know this is a review for the VRBO, but I would be doing a disservice if I did not also speak to the town of Fairfax. WOW. The restaurants, the shops, THE PEOPLE, I just don't have the words. The food was excellent everywhere we went, Sorella Caffe, My Thai Fairfax, and Ghiringhelli's Pizzeria to name a few. I only wish I could have been there longer to try every single restaurant, there were so many on my list. The shops were such a fun walkabout in town. There were two shops that we went in that happened to be closed at the time and both shop owners INSISTED we look around. This brings me to the people. The people of Fairfax made my trip. So down to earth. TEN STARS, I'll be back.

Quiet Paradise
Vicki was a fantastic host and her property (and the surrounding area) is just as beautiful as the pictures. Highly recommend staying at the mountain view retreat, whether just for rest and relaxation by the pool while taking in the mountain views or as a home base for your Marin County, wine country, or even SF centric activities.

We loved staying in Vicki’s home. She is so welcoming. Her pool apartment is lovely. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen well appointed and the outdoor seating was so relaxing.We sat outside each morning having our coffee taking in the beautiful view and watching the hummingbirds. One with Nature
Absolutely loved our stay in Mt. View retreat. A private sanctuary with an infinity pool that looks down into the valley below and across the mountian. Hummingbirds flutter around the lovely gardens. Inside you will find attention to detail in regard to design and decor. Comfortable bed, well equiped kitchen, greeted with snacks! Close to San Fran, Sasalito, Muir Woods.
