Rural Alaska Tiny House near the White Mountains

Quaint and quiet, this off-grid space is perfect for a solo traveler or a couple looking to enjoy a disconnected getaway. Located 30 miles north of Fairbanks on the Elliott Hwy, it is a mix of cozy comforts and Alaskan outback (outhouse and no standard plumbing, but water provided) with a small farmstead thrown in. It's a great place to stop on your drive north. Bring your skis, snowmachine, hiking boots or dogs. Come experience the northern lights, the relaxing atmosphere, and the trails, or sit by fire. There is no electricity available. Our driveway is always plowed clear of snow, but AWD or 4WD is recommended October through May.

The perfect place to unwind, unplug and relax. The tiny house is very well put together with everything you could need. The hosts were exceptional. The setting is tranquil and feels very private. I loved my weekend getaway and will certainly book again in the future.

Perfect Getaway
Love love this tiny house (aka shipping container). It’s beautifully decorated inside with all the essentials you’ll need. So nice to unplug (literally) and use the propane heater, stove, lamp. Bonus? Cast iron pans to cook on. Outhouse is nearby and very clean. It rained the whole time I was there but that just meant I curled up with a good book and enjoyed some alone time. Will definitely be back!

Secluded and beautiful
This tiny home situated on top of a hill on a farm was the best escape I could ask for. I wanted to experience a week in a dry cabin and I received that plus more. Great family to stay with as they are very friendly and informative! Northern lights were perfectly viewable from right outside the cabin entrance.

This unique little spot is in rural Fairbanks about 30 minutes north of the city. It offers great scenery of the landscapes and peace and quiet from the busy modern life. Propane heating and provided water helped us to become immersed in the natural beauty of the area and provides amazing views of the northern lights and local trails to explore. This family farm stead is quiet and hospitable with very friendly goats and gives anyone a warm welcome to the Alaskan frontier!

We enjoyed staying on top of the hill with beautiful scenery surrounding us. The goats added rustic charm and we enjoyed hanging with them. The tiny house was clean and met our needs well. Water was provided and the outhouse was exceptionally clean. Our weather was very hot and inside the shipping container it was hard to cool down with no fan or cross breeze.

When solitude in nature's beauty paramount
I was looking for solitude for two weeks in an isolated location for a spiritual retreat. The tiny house is the perfect location. While the tiny house is on an owner-occupied farm; the owners respected my privacy and provided me complete solitude, but also helped when I requested assistance. Also important was occupying a well maintained and clean abode with a adequate supply of water, proper control of heat and ventilation. Owners loaned me (free) their spare snowshoes, which worked great and I used these to hike their many packed-down trails and even used their shooting range. In addition to the isolation I needed, the stark beauty of the surrounding location was very welcome. This VRBO rental is all of that and much more.

An Alaskan experience
Want to be off-grid? Are you ok with no electricity, no running water, no cell service, awesomely beautiful views, and quiet that goes on forever? Then this is the place for you! We loved staying here and will again if we're back in the area. Enjoyed meeting the hosts and they've created a really unique place to be.

Nice, remote getaway tucked away on a hill overlooking the mountains. Sometimes it's nice to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just enjoy nature.

Our stay here was priceless. If you can rough it a little; you will be glad you did. The host family is awesome and accommodating. The Mountain View is majestic (especially at the sunset) as are the views on the trails to the White Mountain preserve it back up to. It was peaceful. We would definitely recommend it and go back. It was a memorable and one we would do again and recommend to others.

Perfect off-grid no fuss base camp
Our stay was exactly what we were searching for - an off-grid (but warm!) base camp from which to explore the North. Easy access to Ice Art fairgrounds, Chena Hot Springs, North Pole and lots of hiking trails. Plus, the Northern Lights viewing from right on the property was spectacular. As a host, Lara was communicative and friendly but not intrusive. Easy check in, all questions answered in the booklet. Met all expectations and was cozy to boot, even in -20 temps.

We stopped here for one night on our way to Tolovana Hot Springs. It’s cozy and the view is beautiful. It would make a great home base while you spend the days exploring the area. Would stay here again. Thanks Lara!

Beautiful and Secluded
This property was a great place to disconnect for awhile. It was quiet and secluded while still being only about a 25 minute drive into Fairbanks. Everything was as described and Lara was a more than gracious and accommodating host. If you are looking for a place to act as a "basecamp" for all the beautiful hikes in the area, this is it!

Was exactly what the Doctor ordered. I was looking for a cabin that was away from the rest of the world but still not totally secluded and this place was perfect. It is a very well kept and clean cabin with a nice rustic feel, from the gas lamps to the incredible views it was such a pleasure to stay here. The property owner is very cordial and polite and really cares about hospitality ad making sure the guests are taken care of. I had an amazing time and going forward whenever I come back to AK I will be booking at this location. Thank you guys for the experience!
