"Lovely Victorian hotel in great location with a steep history. Unfortunately the hotel seems to be in a time warp and not in touch with modern day competition with regards to room quality tv, bed, furnishings. The dining options were extremely close windowed and not flexible. Breakfast was really poor quality with limited choice with many expected food items not bailable or offered. It seemed to be more in line with a seaside bed and breakfast offering rather than what appeared to be a 4 star hotel. We don't regret staying at The Metropole. Just that we were a little disappointed "

"Could not have had a quicker check in. We arrived early and had a drink in the bar. Two minutes later the room key arrived. The staff were first class, freindly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Check was as easy as check in. Thank you all for relaxing time."

"What did we like?...EVERYTHING Stunning location with beautiful views, amazing property taking you back to a more gentler time in days gone by, from the moment you drive down the driveway. The attention to detail in our room was impeccable and there was nothing that the staff wouldn't do for you. For a relaxing break away from the norm I can not recommend this place highly enough. "We had a fabulous stay at The Riverside. We stayed in one of the Garden rooms which was perfect in every way with thoughtful details, such as a torch to walk back with after dinner, and fresh milk in our fridge for tea/coffee. What really impressed was the service we received from the staff. Even though the bar and restaurant were busy, the manager and his brilliant young team looked after us so well . We will definitely return! "
