The hotel is in great shape, though the cleanliness can use tightening up. The best part about my stay was the Front Desk Staff. Eva was special when I checked in and the young lady working on the morning shift was pleasant. She gave me a great impression that the staff enjoy working there. And that's what hotel experiences should be.

Building was quite old. And this applied for everything inside it. The price for such lodging was extremely high and unjustified. Receptionists we’re very kind and eager to help with everything.

Perfect for an overnight stay
Rooms are small but ideall for a short stay, very convenient Location. As the Hotel is centrally located the street outside can be noisy but rooms are well soundproofed. Buffet breakfast is very good.

Horrible Hotel
This place was horrible. It was like a hostel. Our room was across the street from the registration desk. No street access, no phone, no closet. The outside photo looked nothing like the place. You couldn’t use the toilet without hitting the sink. It was an awful experience and we only stayed one night. Now the hotel will not release the funds that were not used. It was so bad we rented an Air B n B. I will not use Hotels.com agIn

Room was clean and receptionist was very kind and helpful. The building was very very old but room was renewed.bed and pillow were very comfortable. Location was in the centre. Breakfast was good and sufficient. I was very pleasant. If you have limited budget you can stay. There is no tea or coffee options in the room but it is not big issue. My room is in the 4th floor and back side so it was so silent. Opposite side may be noisy. It is exactly old city centre hotel not expecting chain hotel details

We needed a quick place to stay in a town where almost all hotels were booked. Staff was wonderful, helpful, and friendly. While our building was old and in need of a facelift, the room itself was clean and had everything needed, but an extra lock on the door would be nice. Our bed was quite comfortable! With the lack of air conditioning or even fans, windows must be kept tilted open to help with the stifling heat. All night yelling and screaming from people below could be heard. I wish the hotel were in a better location. Breakfast was fantastic!

Good hotel!
The hotel is located in the middle of the shoppingstreet centre of Essen. Really nice, clean and friendly people at the reception. Good bargain for a good stay with breakfast!! Essen is a typical German city. Cosy and good!

Price was cheap but single room is quite small but sufficient. Little hot to sleep in July as cannot open window as too much noise from street.

Its good budget place, and right middle of the market district.. but lacking Air condition. And since the party is right outside the windows itse a slight challenge during the summer. Points for the breakfast, way better than what I expected for that price

The location of the hotel is walking distance to the train station. I was given a room not at the main building however across the street. Ugly building, very worn out carpet. Breakfast was acceptable.

Middle of the city centre/ shopping centre. Also close to the Central Station. The (single room) was small, but clean. The bed was good. The bathroom tiles were a bid loose. It needs work. Breakfast was price included and it was standard breakfast.

Great hotel.
I really enjoyed my stay at Novum Hotel Ambassador. Kind and service minded staff. Proper cleaning. Comfortable bed. The only improvement they can do is looking after the floors. A small renovation would do wonders. It´s not in a bad shape but a minor renovation here and there wouldn´t hurt anyone.
