Bring your own boat for fishing on the lake (please keep to small boats under 15', absolutely no pontoon boats). . Or just enjoy the provided kayaks and paddle boards. The sandy bottom descends to 6' deep water within 15' feet of the shoreline. Very clear water that you can see down about 20 feet or more.
Great location, can swim in a beautiful cool lake and still close enough to spend the day in Acadia and Bar Harbor. Both are located about 50 minutes away.
Beech Hill Pond is 4.5 miles long, half a mile wide, and up to 104 feet deep. Trout, salmon, and other species of fish have been observed in the lake. Bald Eagles can be seen hunting right in front of the cottage. We saw one catch a large fish right in front of us. The Loons are prevalent on the lake and can be heard calling in the night in the quiet still air.
Fish found in Beech Hill Pond include salmon, rainbow trout, lake trout, brook trout, small mouth bass, and several others. The largest lake trout in Maine was caught on the lake in 1958. It weighed 31.5 pounds.
Beech Hill Pond was said to be one of the "best bets for Maine lake trout" by Tom Seymour. It is not possible to fish from the lake's shore, although fishing can be done out on the lake.
