Nellie's Place- Quiet Mtn. Getaway with Scenic View, Wifi, & Community Amenities

Quiet and tranquil 3 bed/2.5 bath house on Walnut Mountain. At Nellie's Place you'll find the main floor with a nice sized kitchen, beautiful dining room, and spacious living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with most of the kitchen supplies you would need. A Keurig and slow drip coffee are provided. There is a large island with two swivel barstools. In the dining room you will find a round table for 6 surrounded by windows. There is even a baby highchair provided. The living room seats 6 and has a 50 inch Smart TV and gas fireplace. The sunroom allows guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery without having to even go outside. There is also an outdoor deck that provides two shade umbrellas, a picnic table, and seating area to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Use the gas grill to make a delicious meal!

The master bedroom on the main floor has a comfy queen bed and private bathroom featuring two sinks, jetted garden tub, and separate shower. Also included in the master bedroom is a 55 inch TV, sitting area, and a private covered balcony to enjoy the mountain views. The main floor also offers a half bath with laundry room attached.

Upstairs you will find a large kids room with a twin daybed and trundle bed beneath. This room also has a 50 inch Smart TV, a kids play table, and a mini crib for a baby. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and sitting area. Located upstairs is a detached full bath with dual shower and tub to be shared by the kids room and the queen bedroom. Last but not least, a game room is located in the loft and includes board games, a card/board game table to seat 4, a foosball table, and bean bags.

All the roads on Walnut Mountain are paved and Nellie’s Place has flat parking area with a portico covering for two vehicles!

At Nellie's Place you are sure to feel rested and rejuvenated as you take in the fresh mountain air! The secluded location offers peace and quiet with plenty of wildlife, especially deer, birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. You'll be just a few minutes drive from complimentary tennis courts with pickleball lines, a basketball court, a playground, and a seasonal pool (open Saturday of Memorial Day weekend in May til Labor Day in September). There are also several lakes on the Walnut Mountain property where you can fish without a license. There is a trout fishing stream at the entrance to Walnut Mountain near the picnic area. (Georgia fishing license with trout stamp required). You will also find several hiking trails on the property and even a small waterfall.

If you need to do some work during your stay we have complimentary wifi able to handle zoom calls and all basic work essential needs. There are several places to work from in the cabin if you needed to find a quiet nook for that important zoom meeting or call as well.

Walnut Mountain is a gated community just outside of Ellijay, Ga and is known for its mountain views on ‘The Ridge.’ It is also historically know for Jimmy Carters retreat where he wrote several books down by Turniptown Creek.

What’s nearby
Downton Ellijay is just a short drive and offers a number of excellent restaurants and antique shops.

Blue Ridge is less than a 30-minute drive and offers the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, great restaurants, boutique shops, and coffee shops.

Amicalola Falls is a 30-minute drive and offers great hiking, picnicking, and of course the falls. If you are truly adventurous, you can hike the 8-mile approach trail to Springer Mountain, where the Appalachian Trail begins. If you desire to stay closer to home, you can also find multiple trails within the Walnut Mountain community.

You can also find white water rafting, tubing, rappelling, golf courses, amazing mountain drives, apple orchards in the fall, and local wineries all at your fingertips.

Great Place for Fall Vacation
We spent 2 weeks (Oct-Nov) at Nellie’s Place relaxing and enjoying the changing fall colors and views. Our favorite pastimes were looking out through the treetops taking in the abundant signs and sounds of nature…deer, squirrels, chipmunks, falling leaves and acorns. We spoke with the property manage on several occasions as questions arose and found him to be extremely responsive and helpful. The location was an easy drive to Ellijay, Blue Ridge and numerous orchards and wineries. We will definitely keep Nellie’s Place in mind for a future visit to the N Ga Mtns.

Superb mountain rental.
The house is perfect for a small or large group. The property had all the amenities you would need and was a well sourced kitchen. We had a great time and saw lots of deer around the property. Highly recommend this property as a vacation rental in the mountains. Very convenient to Ellijay as well do you wanna as a number of local Apple orchards.

Glitch with the Lock -- Otherwise Perfect!
We booked this as a last-minute get-away. When we arrived the cyperlock did not let us in. Contacted Brandon and 10 minutes later the problem was solved and we were in. Looks like it was a problem with VRBO's keyless access system. I have an unusual phone number and the last 4 digits was just not acceptable. Brandon re-programed the lock and there was no further problem. The house is in perfect condition and very clean. The check-out process was the best ever. We just collected up the trash, loaded the dishwasher, got our stuff, locked up and left. The location is in a quiet, scenic location and quite nice. Highly recommended!

Summer getaway
It was a beautiful home in a really nice location. They had board games at the house and a foosball table, which was great for those rainy days. There was a lot to do just in the resort area itself. They had kid friendly hiking trails, nature trails, tennis courts, basketball court with adjustable height for kids. The pool was fantastic! Definitely bring your own tennis racket and balls, basketball and floats for the pool. The location was fantastic, with easy access to the grocery store and several great little towns, hiking trails, orchards, and other family friendly activities.

This was the cleanest property we have ever stayed in. Great Five Star! The only issue we had is there was a basket on the kitchen counter that said complimentary snacks. There weren't any snacks which was OK because we brought our own. Great quit place!

Loved our stay. Beautiful woodland setting. Sit on the deck and watch the wildlife drift through the yard. Cabin was beautifully decorated and so clean ❤️Visited Ellijay for shopping and great restaurants. Will keep this as one of our favorites

Nellie’s Place contributed to our amazing vacation . The home cools down nicely during the day and the cabin has a very cozy feel to it … we enjoyed having our morning coffee in the closed on porch and watching deer and many birds. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of supplies in the kitchen to cook a wonderful family meal. The soaps and detergent from amway were delicious as well. The only down side was the smell of dog urine in the front porch and dog dander in the main living room . Both can be lessened with the fans on . The owner, Brandon was quick to respond to all of our questions and was very polite. We will definitely stay here again .

Our stay at Nellie's Place was lovely. Brandon was very easy to communicate with, and the home was furnished comfortably; We felt at home. The location is very convenient, close to restaurants and hiking, etc. Plus, the community offered a playground for our kids. We would happily stay there again.

Thanksgiving getaway
We had a really great stay in Walnut Mountain over Thanksgiving week! The property was beautiful and very comfortable. We loved hanging out by the fireplace each night. The house is located in a gated community up a steep mountain. Easy access to Ellijay and Blue Mountain, and only about 45 minutes to Dahlonega. Highly recommend.

Everything was fantastic in this cabin. Such an easy getaway from Atlanta and we look forward to coming back! We have a 1 and a 5 year old, and having the crib and high chair was extremely convenient. The host has an eye for details and makes sure the guests have everything they need during the stay. There were labels everywhere, which we appreciated! The cabin is beautiful and very comfortable. The Fall foliage was beautiful during our stay. We loved lighting up the fireplace every evening after a day of activities. Thank you for being such amazing hosts!

Perfect home!
We absolutely loved our stay at Nellie’s Place!! This was our first trip to Ellijay, and we really enjoyed the town, apple festival and BJ Reece Orchards. The house was our favorite part though! My 3 boys (5, toddler and baby)were so content and cozy. This home is gorgeous with a peaceful setting, and it’s such a great setup for families. The attention to detail, notes for visitors and all the extra supplies were appreciated. We enjoyed the foosball table and fireplace most of all. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Special Mother’s Dad
My sister and I planned a surprise Mother’s Day weekend get away for our Mom. The house was perfect and we enjoyed our stay so much we never left the house until we were ready to come home. My only suggestion as we have a VRBO we rent out. I wish there has been a lamp in the kids room where I stayed. Thank you for a wonderful place where great memories were made. Angie Gregory
