Jake's Hideaway exceeded our expectations. The housekeeping staff was friendly and informative, and the cabin was impeccable and cozy. Even our fur baby enjoyed a break from the fast pace of city life. Our family could not ask for more. It felt like a slice of heaven. Thank you for your hospitality and we look forward til the next adventure.

Family reunion
Jake’s Hideaway is a beautiful, comfortable, well maintained, clean, and quiet place. However, the communication between the property manager and the resort staff is seriously lacking. One gate guard actually told my daughter that they, meaning Coosawatee staff, dislike VRBO rentals. Also, the Host Fee of $355 effectively doubled our cost. We won’t return.
The property was perfect for our group of 9. We could have accommodated at least 3 more easily. The Cabin was nicely decorated and fully stocked with all we needed. It was conveniently located near the square and all the main shopping and restaurants. The population of deer was fun to see. We had a great time and would definitely go back..
This is our second prolonged visit to Jake’s. And we are planning another visit soon. My family, my dog and I all love it. We’ve made friends with the deer and spent some time in downtown Ellijay. Highly recommend!!
We very much enjoyed our stay. The property is as described and we had no complaints about the cleanliness of the cabin. The hot tub and surrounding areas needed some attention, however. It wasn't clean. This did not spoil our visit, as the weather was rainy and cool. Perhaps roof additions over the porches could be considered. The abundance of deer throughout the resort was a surprise. We enjoyed watching them. But a forewarning on the property description might be considered.

A Bit of Heaven in Georgia
We had a wonderful family gathering at Jake's Hideaway. We loved the comfort of the house and the quietness of the surroundings. We hiked, bird watched, and fed the deer. Overall it was a wonderful Thanksgiving week.

Fun peaceful long weekend
Everything we needed. Very clean exactly as described on line. Enjoyed seeing the deer daily in the evening. Would certainly come back
i We enjoyed the unexpected deer visits. The host was very helpful with information about the area and things we could do. She was very accessible. the kitchen was well supplied and enough linen was available. the only down side for us was not having a fire pit.
Cabin was all it was advertised to be! Great communication with property manager. Cabin was very clean and lots of room. Perfect for our family of 10. Kids loved feeding the deer. We had up to 18 show up for breakfast. Close to downtown Ellijay. Enjoyed the shops! We would definitely stay at this property again.

Great Retreat!
My two year old son and I stayed at this cabin for a long weekend and we're very pleased with our experience. The cabin was very tastefully decorated and the entire cabin was beautiful inside and out. There was plenty of room and plenty of amenities including little details like a wide selection of movies and board games. The game room downstairs had a full sized pool table. The grounds were beautiful and very very quiet. The deer were everywhere! The resort was rather difficult to navigate for a FL girl, but we stumbled upon many of its offerings such as the many streams and ponds and playgrounds. I would definately recommend this place for a relaxing retreat.

Disappointing
Beds were uncomfortable for everyone, hottube smelled and didnt heat properly, garden tube in the master didnt work properly, back deck hadnt been cleaned for sometime. Back deck fountain didnt work. Ice trays were dirty. There was a patch of a persons hair on the in table. Floors were not properly cleaned and i have pictures
The property is in a gated community. You have to check in with security every time you enter the community. However the house was clean and nicely decorated. The house had adequate amenities but PLEASE bring your own bath towels, wash cloths, kitchen towels, trash bags, bath tissue and paper towel. The kitchen towels and bath towels provided were old and faded. The house had a hot tub, pool table and tons of games. My family enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and sitting on the porch and patio watching the deers (there were hundreds). We also enjoyed Carter’s Lake (the overlook at the dam is breathtaking). There is not much to do in the Ellijay in terms of things to do. It was refreshing to get away from the city and enjoy the peace and quiet in the mountains.

Mountain Bike Trip
The property and cabin were well maintained. I have stayed at other cabins where there was plenty of toiletries (dishwashing soap, toilet paper, hand washing soap, etc.) I am not sure if a previous renter had purchased and left but this property had enough to begin with but I needed to purchase more. This was well documented but different. I used the hot tub which worked without issues. The wifi worked with out issues.
The instructions on how to get to the cabin were spot on so that made it easier the first day.
I look forward to coming back the next time I come to Ellijay for mountain biking.

Nice property... HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT
When we booked the cabin we were given a price, list of amenities, and all of the other details you are more than likely looking at already. A few days after booking we received an email from Julee King (property manager) stating that HomeAway did not have the right pricing for the dates we selected. We were asked to cancel the reservation and book again under the new pricing. The new pricing was a slight increase, but it was still within our budget.
After booking we were notified by Julee that we need to sign an updated contract. The contract which shows a cancellation policy that is different than the HomeAway site, and many other oddities. We began looking for another cabin, but were advised by Julee that we would not be getting a refund based on the new contract. It is very odd that the contract is sent after you pay. If you book with them, please get the contract up front.
Upon arrival we were delighted by a lit Christmas tree and a softly lit cabin. The warm feeling quickly sank as we noticed mounds of dust on the fans. We couldn't help but think of the contract and communication with Julee, so we began to inspect the home in detail. Aside from the dusty fans there were cookies and cereal in the couch cushions, crumbs on the counters, dust on all lamps and shelves, and a used women's sanitary napkin left in a dresser drawer. A few of the sliding glass doors don't lock, so a piece of wood is used to prop them shut. While not alarming it doesn't make one feel secure.
Later our sons went to use the hot tub and came back inside after only a few minutes. They smelled of mildew and came inside to find out why. After looking at the hot tub I noticed a layer of black film on the surface of the water, black mildew on the white fixtures inside of the hot tub, and later saw a filter caked in mildew to the point that it was entirely black (filters should be white and clean). We ended up throwing away the boys' bathing suits because two washes didn't get rid of the smell.
Julee was notified by phone and email. Both to which she became combative and later blamed us for all of the problems we listed. We have pictures, but she still places the blame on us and insists on holding our deposit. Be very cautious of Lonesome Paws management and Julee King!
If there were more space for a review, then we would have more details. We recommend the property, but not at the cost of doing business with her. Zero stars would be given.
The location was great and it had plenty of room for everyone. The place does need a deep clean. There was also dog hair all over the rugs. We slept downstairs in the biggest bedroom since we had a baby but every movement upstairs or even on the stairs was so loud in the rooms. It was difficult getting our daughter to sleep when anyone was upstairs moving around, pulling a chair out to sit, etc. We had seven adults, 2 kids, and 1 baby. We found out that if you are running the dishwasher or washing machine, you can't shower. There was no water pressure downstairs so we would have to wait for either one to finish a cycle before someone could shower which was inconvenient when you had so many people. We did love the hot tub and the abundant deer.

Adequate
Maybe once upon a time this place was nice and enjoyable to stay in, but not anymore. We arrived to dirty toilets, peeling paint, at least 5 main light bulbs burned out, little-to-no kitchen organization, and after paying an extra $315 for 3 additional guests we weren’t even provided enough clean towels for all guests as promised.
The hot tub smelled so bad we couldn’t use it and even though we were told that since our stay was longer than 3 days we would see a hot tub tech come by to make sure it was in top shape, nobody came. And on top of all that, there wasn’t even your typical mountain view from the cabin.
All in all it was unfortunately a very lackluster experience for a hefty price tag.
Julee was great to work with, had some last minute changes on number of people coming but Julee took care of everything for us. House was clean, had everything we needed. Bedt part where all the deer we saw. If you like the see wildlife this is a great place to stay.
