River Haven Cabin is nestled right on the beautiful Shenandoah River, with a spectacular year round view. The very name River Haven hints to its warm and cozy place on the river. Life at the cabin is very low key, just the place to relax and take it easy while having the full features of a home at your finger tips. Explore the river or the nearby national parks, all at your own pace. River Haven has something to offer for all who visit.

River Haven is the perfect place to relax. Enjoy a local hike or sit back on our large deck and enjoy the river. River Haven offers all the comforts of home with the advantages of being located by the Shenandoah River. Bring a pole and lures and enjoy our abundant small mouth bass or take the canoe and tour the river.

River Haven is situated on the northwestern portion of a 200 acre farm named Rivercrest that dates back to an original land grant from the King of England. The original deed granted hundreds of acres to the Moyer/Taylor family who were also distant relatives of our 12th President of the United States , Zachary Taylor. While the Taylors amassed most of their holdings through many local business dealings of the 1800’s, the fertile soil and incredible waterfront beauty of Rivercrest always interested the last heir Everet to farm and cultivate the rich soil and produce abundant crops. In the 1960’s, Mr. Taylor sold roughly an acre of riverfront property to a local businessman and soon after River Haven was born. The previous owners of River Haven upgraded and maintained the waterfront retreat and decided to share its peace, quiet, and solitude with the rest of those looking for a retreat away from the stresses of modern day life. And, to this day, these qualities make River Haven such a unique and incredible property and it invites you to feel like a part of the infamous Shenandoah River like no other can offer. As the owners of Rivercrest and now River Haven we are pleased that the two are once again joined together and we are anxious to add our touches to River Haven and for our guest to experience the stress and tension leaving as you make your way down past the historic farm that we and Mr. Taylor love and cherish and find your peace, solitude, and enjoyment in all that River Haven has to offer.

A perfect stay
We loved the location. The cottage was comfortable, clean, and had a nice kitchen with enough equipment to cook basically anything. The deck is great. I emjoyed watching all the activity on the water and in the park across the way. The host was thoughful and communicated with us very couteously when it was necessary to remove a tree which had blown down in a storm. Highly recommend this place.

Perfect cabin for family
This is the perfect cabin for a family getaway. You can not beat the location right on the water with a dock and canoe. Looking forward to coming back in the warmer months. Scot went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

Perfect Girls Weekend
River Haven made a "Grandmother - mother - daughter weekend" amazing! The cabin was so cute and cozy and the beds were so comfortable. It was perfect for relaxing and "girl time". The hot tub was pretty awesome too! We will definitely be booking again! Thank you.

Outstanding
River Haven was absolutely fantastic. Deck is huge and has great views. Kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Great location only about 10 minutes from Massanutten Resort. There was a large snowstorm before we came and the owners had the driveway and path cleared in time before our stay. Can't wait to come again.

Loved being right on the water surrounded by shade trees. House was perfect and the deck was huge, listened to music and played card on the deck all night. Could have used a ramp or stairs for easy access to walk into the water.

River Haven Cabin
The cabin was in an awesome location so close to Shenandoah National Park we hiked everyday. The cabin was clean, kitchen well stocked, lots of information and brochures as well as an incredibley well organized binder that included everything you would want to know about the area. What we enjoyed the most was the outdoor living space. Huge deck, plenty of seating, grill, dock and canoe. The lock on the house did not work properly when we got there, called the management company and they arrived in 10 mins and solved the problem. River Haven offers peace and tranquility.

Exceeded Expectations !!!
We just returned from our long Thanksgiving 4 day stay. It was perfect! We loved the cottage and it was so cozy. The views were amazing. We enjoyed the hottub, the canoe, fishing and the outdoor firepit was a big hit on our chili nights. I cant say enough about the host. Scot wad amazing from the time we booked until check-out. He was so helpful and responded to all our questions right away. The only suggestion i would make is to bring a folding table. We brought one and it came in handy for our meals and playing games. This was exactly what we hoped for and it really did exceed our expectations!!!

Heaven with charm
The cabin was wonderful. The charm and beauty of it was exquisite. It was semi isolated, right on the river, and quiet. We took their canoe to the other side of the river to feed the ducks, which was also quiet. Roasted marshmallows in the fire pit, grilled, went horseback riding, hiking and absorbed all of the beauty. My nieces turned the loft into their fairy land with gigles every night. A part of me wants to leave an awful review to deter others from staying, as the time slots fill quickly.

Absolutely Awesome!
This cabin was awesome and the location perfect. Even with 100 degrees temps we were able to sit on the large shaded deck and my grandchildren were able to play with their bubbles. The canoe provided hours of entertainment and excitement. My son even caught a fish from the dock. The accommodations were superb! The quality of the linens and bedding was magnificent and amply supplied. Yes, the loft ceiling is low; however, when the beds were pushed into the center of the room even my 6ft tall daughter was able to comfortably sleep up there. Because of the 100 degree temps, the AC wasn't sufficient enough for u; however, a quick trip to Family Dollar and 2 fans later that issue was resolved and I needed the fans for use at home as well. We're already thinking about visiting again next summer - can we pre-order cooler temps?

Great Location but needs some updates
The location of this cabin is wonderful and it was very relaxing to stay there. Scot was great, and helped accommodate an early check in. This place could absolutely be 5 star with a few small updates. Some weatherproof deck furniture would definitely be a plus to replace the grungy deck cushions. There were no screens on the windows or sliding door to let the air in which would have been nice on the cooler nights. The trash can has no cover which might seem petty but I really don’t want to look at our food scraps. The toilet, which others have mentioned, needs at least two flushes every time. The kitchen was also a little lacking and we had to buy some mixing bowls. The overall inside could also use a good scrub. This is not meant to be a bad review just a nudge to step it up a notch to make it amazing.

Well two things happened we didn't have the code to get in, and the magor issue was no TV in the living room nor internet svc was a very down fall on this part. The cabin itsself was nice and cozy but we should had been told before we came down that the TV and interent svc was down for over 2 weeks and we were not told of this problem. I was very disappointed in finding this out when we arrived. It rained all day on Sunday so we could not watch any of the football games other than an 19" tv in the bedroom. Nice location it's better for a summer retreat in my opinion and not for a winter adventure. I beleive if you want good customer svc you should be very truthful to your customers of any issues the cabin has before you make that long journey and we did not get that chance. Over all I rate our trip a 4 due to a major issue of no TV nor Internet svc if somehting had happened we would had no way of getting help to us since they didn't as well have any phones at the cabin and cell svc was out of reach. First Family Vacation
I am a stay-at-home Mom to a 2 year old (and another one on the way) and my husband manages a store dedicating many hours to his work. Every year he takes a week off in June. During this time we would take day trips or get some projects done around the house. This year we both felt we needed something different. We wanted to go somewhere that we could not only relax but have fun too. Another important factor is that we wanted our dog, Sam to join us. River Haven offered just that. When we arrived we were very pleased not only with the setting but also that Kim was there to greet us. The house was clean and had everything we needed. We never rented a house before so we didn't really know what to expect. I must say we felt comfortable and relaxed from the time we walked in. Never like we were in someone else's house. Breakfast on the deck in the morning was so nice. Another plus was the use of the canoe. The trip down the river was beautiful. After the first day we lost count as to how many fish my husband caught both on the dock and on the boat. Even my daughter caught her first fish! I can definitely see us returning to River Haven. Next time we will have to bring our friends since there is plenty of room. Thanks again for helping us make some great memories for our first family vacation.

Stench of Cow Manure from Adjacent Farm
Noted nowhere in any reviews or description is the fact that a cow farm is the neighboring property, butting up to the edge of this property and providing an unavoidable stench of cow manure. Absolutely unavoidable! We should have Google Earth mapped it, so we could have seen the cow farm. We also should have bought the trip insurance, because we only stayed one of our booked nights (never even unpacked) and got refunded only a portion of the amount. Also to be noted is the loft for the kids is about 3 1/2 feet tall and a ladder leads to the loft....so it's too short for bigger kids (will bump their heads, as the cots are only about a foot from the ceiling) and too dangerous for little kids (they could fall from the ungated loft). Lastly, the property sits about 200' from a dam, which led the water to be very shallow (no fun for boating). At least this is how it appeared on the day we were there, and there had just been a big rain, so there should have been a lot of water. The last "damper" on our one and only night there was that I was trying to make the best out of a worst situation and roast marshmallows. While there was a fire pit, and it was covered, when I uncovered it, it was full of water.

We were very pleased with the rental. It was clean comfortable and secluded which were all the things we were looking for. The large deck overlooking the river was a great place to relax to eat or just enjoy the solitude. The weather was perfect so that made it even more enjoyable.

Fun in the Fog
Despite the rain and foggy weather, we had a great time here catching up with old friends. A beautiful place to stay and explore the area. A quick drive to Harrisonburg and Luray.
