"We very much enjoyed the Sassafras’s cabin! Clean, well appointed with dishes, pans etc. they even provided coffee. Centrally located in the Shawnee Natl Forest, we were only 8 minutes away from great hiking, The Garden of the Gods and more. While there are other cabins nearby there was plenty of privacy. Very quiet place to enjoy a fire pit and decompress. We will absolutely be back for another stay. "

"HIGHLY recommend this property! My partner and I arrived at Timber Ridge during a week that the Garden of the Gods Recreation Area was closed due to construction. We arrived at the check-in business and quickly saw that they had instructions on alternative ways to access the area. The staff is very knowledgeable of their surroundings, and the information included in the cabin's tourism binder gave you pretty much everything you needed to know about trails, restaurants, and other landmarks to explore during your stay. As for the cabin, it was stocked with everything you would need to be comfortable and take care of yourself during your stay. The kitchen has a wide array of utensils, you could easiy bring groceries and feed yourself or grill outside and make sides. There were cleaning supplies, plenty of sheets and towels, and options to keep yourself either cool or warm. Hot water and strong wifi to use the internet or work the Roku TV. The layout is very intuitive, plenty of space for a couple! As for the service, it was superb. On our first night, we found a wasp nest on the wonderful porch swing by the front door. Once we called, it took less than an hour for them to be in touch, send one of the owners to the cabin, treat the wasps with soapy water, and get rid of the nest altogether. He was also extremely friendly! Overall, an excellent experience that we WILL repeat to see more of Shawnee National Forest. "

"This property is in a quiet, secluded area with plenty of property to explore and enjoy family time. The house is perfectly appointed, very clean and has rustic charm with all the modern amenities. The coffee nook was a nice touch as well. The location is in the middle of all the activities we participated in, hiking, zip lining, swimming, antique shopping and wine tasting. I recommend this house and location for a trip to southern Illinois."

"The property was very rural and private. It was spacious with tall ceilings and wide open rooms and all the essentials for preparing easy meals. It was very clean (9/10 and I’m SUPER picky). The bed was comfortable and the furnishings were new and clean. The couch was a bit uncomfortable for us but I realize that’s subjective. The hot tub was clean and had a wonderful view of nature. The first night it rained but we could still enjoy the hot tub as it’s under the awning so we sat and listened to the rain and soaked. We saw turkeys, deer, rabbits, and birds throughout our stay. We’ll definitely be back!! "

"Very enjoyable stay ... perfect size for my husband and I ... everything we needed. We spent a lot of time on the cute front porch enjoying nature from our seat on the glider. LOVED the swing hanging from the oak tree branch (took me back to my childhood). The neighborhood cat came over for a visit. My husband saw a hummingbird every morning. Roasted hotdogs and made s'mores at the firepit. Cabin was clean. Only down side was the 2 queen beds were up in the loft ... the ladder/stairs were decent, but a little dicey to navigate when needing to use the restroom in the middle of the night. Luckily, the couch on the main level turned into a queen size bed ... and was fairly comfortable. Would definitely return here for another long weekend visit."
