Other things to note
Tarragona is a beautiful old Roman town, which has been well preserved. It features lively bars and decent restaurants. The beaches are plentiful and well looked after. Recently the former commercial port has been modified for super yachts and provides an interesting area to walk around in the day or evening, with restaurants and bars. There is free parking for up to an hour for non diners and deals for those eating in the port area who wish to park for longer. There are lots of snow sports options in winter towards and within the Pyrenees. Climbing and rafting have become popular in the more local mountain ranges. Around 30-45 minutes drive by car. Wine tours are particularly appealing in the nearby Priorat, Montsant and Penedes - the home of Cava. The Cava producers in the town of Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, such as Codorniu and Freixenet, offer regular daily wine tours for a small fee which usually includes a tasting. Other days out include visits to Montserrat, a mountain with volcanic form which is home to a well known historic monastery. Here can be found plenty of paid for parking and reasonably priced local cuisine. The Ebro Delta is a drive south and features unspoilt beaches and lots of wildlife, including flamingos and Audouin Gulls. For thrill seekers the well known Port Aventura theme park is a 20 minute drive away, along with a large separate water park and the recently opened Ferrari Land theme park.
