We booked this stay for a family celebration over the weekend. We had some activities planned in and around Sherwood Park and also wanted a relaxing outdoorsy stay in the area.
We had a small issue with the front door code and the host was quick to respond with a fix however;
1. The house was not clean. I arrived the day before our gathering and spent a night and day cleaning before I could feel comfortable there. When I arrived, the floors were sticky, the walls had some stains on them and there was old food left in the garbage. The oven was not useable due to the dirtiness of it and there was leftover food in the fridge. I purchased disposable plates rather than spend my time washing all the dishes that were covered with finger marks.
There was soap scum in both bathrooms and it looked like the tub hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
The beds were barely furnished - one didn't have sheets. There were two towels in the whole house.
There were old cigarette butts and beer bottles in the backyard as well and the hot tub was not ideal.
2. There are people living in the property. This was not in the listing and we were quite surprised to be sharing the space. The host said the basement was separate but there was a door leading to it from the main level that only locked from the basement side - which is a security issue. There was a fair bit of noise and at 8am on Saturday, they came and took the bbq - which we had hoped to use.
We made it work but would not book again.
