Lovely traditional cottage in a lovely location
This is the second time we have stayed in the cottages. It’s in a lovely location and is very convenient for us visiting family in the area. The cottages have many traditional features which are lovely albeit some are looking a little bit tired, however, excellent value for money.
Beautiful cottage and estate. Perfect for relaxing. Plenty to see and do as Edinburgh City is very close. Very welcoming and excellent communication with the host.

Perfect South Edinburgh base
We picked Arniston as its a great base to explore Edinburgh and the surrounding areas whilst being cosy and accommodating for those with mobility constraints and dog lovers. The properties offer great value and this was our second stay at Lime Cottage. And believe it or not the sun shone all week.

great stay in cosy cottage
We stayed for 8 nights in the lime cottage. Upon arrival the heating was on the and the fireplace ready to be fired up. Really comfortable cottage in a nice place. No sounds of traffic or other noise during the day or at night. We had an excellent time!

Lovely stay at Lime cottage
This little cottage is so beautiful! The location for us is perfect with family close by.
The cottage is so comfortable and cosy and dog friendly!
The grounds are amazing even in the rain!
We did the tour of Arniston House and it was fantastic! The owner and Anne weee excellent and really made the whole tour more personal!
Henrietta was so very helpful and on hand anytime.
We will most definitely be coming back here in the future we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Full of anticipation we started our journey to Gorebridge. The driveway to the cottage is absolutely beautiful. The cottage itself has a cozy vintage look in a quiet location. Exactly what we were looking for. The fireplace was already prepared for the first time using it. We had a very nice, comfortable time here. What I need to criticise is the kitchen, which disappointed me somehow. In the pictures it looks quite modern and well equipped. Unfortunately, the kitchen furniture is worn and getting old. The dishes are limited, which means that I had to rinse them several times because otherwise there wouldn’t have been enough. There were no lids for the pots. The cleanliness in the cottage is good according to the circumstances.

Everything about the stay was perfect. I particularly like that there was not an extra charge for logs. The country side and nature are beautiful and abundant. We felt happy, comfortable and welcomed during our stay. We are going back in November.

Perfect in every way
We have stayed at Arniston Cottages in both Lime & Elm on many visits.
Ideal location for Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
Arniston cottages are well equipped with everything you need from good quality linen to a well equipped kitchen.
Henrietta and her staff are friendly with quick response to all correspondence.
These cottages truly are perfect
Really enjoyed the location and the history of the cottage. I only stayed for three nights. Should have stayed longer. I liked the property. Lots of history there. Much more fun than a hotel. The host, Henrietta, communicated well.
Lovely place and nice and quiet to get a good nights sleep. It was perfect for the 3 of us as we were really using it to sleep as we travelled into Edinburgh which was quite close, only 30 minutes by train and the drive into town was quick to get to the train. Well located in that regard. Thank you!!!
I was looking for a quiet country cottage near Edinburgh that would give us an opportunity to explore Lothian and the Borderlands - and we found it!
Our two room place had a quaint, old world feel but was full of modern conveniences and hospitality. It was great to have a large kitchen, a living-dining area and two bedrooms, one upstairs, one down with the option of a hot bath upstairs. The location is very quiet and calm, 1 mile off the main roadways into Gorebridge. We used this comfortable base to launch into several fun day excursions to the Scottish coast and fascinating local attractions. Henrietta dropped by on our first night to check to see if all was as expect; I appreciated the caring touch from her.

Gorgeous place to stay!
We loved staying here in this beautiful, character cottage in idyllic, peaceful surroundings. Lovely walks and only a short distance to catch a train in to Edinburgh. Highly recommended!
Lovely setting in grounds of Arniston house. Very pretty walks on doorstep around estate, easy to have dog off lead as so quiet. Very comfortable accommodation, everything we needed. Easy access to Edinburgh and east Lothian, hopefully we’ll be back to explore pentland hills next time. Henrietta very helpful host

Arniston Cottages
We rented two cottages for ourselves and visiting family. They were very well equipped and comfortable. There was a huge amount of local information provided in the cottages on everything including take-aways, shopping, restaurants, and visits to Edinburgh. The Estate is very beautiful, with the house furnished with original items and pictures. The grounds contain lots of old trees and wildlife such as owls, bats, and birds. We had a lovely time there despite the weather.

Relaxing Scottish break
Good location within 30 minutes of city centre. Relaxing grounds to walk around. Henrietta the host was always available and most helpful. Ideal for a small family with dogs catered for as well. Not the biggest property but comfortable for 2 couples or children. Good strong WiFi signal and not too far from shops and city centre.
