107 Broughton Street - an edinburgh that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

Broughton Street is a prime city centre location, within walking distance of all the cities main attractions and transport links, plus it offers a host of great amenities (cafes/ restaurants/ shops) on the doorstep.

With its bright rooms, comfy beds and funky decor this home sleeps 6 guests with one family bathroom & one ensuite shower room.

The Space:

The property has a large bright living room, with a sociable modern kitchen. The kitchen as all the mod cons one would expect including a dishwasher. There is a dining space for enjoying meals in together, and a comfortable seating for relaxing after a long day exploring the city.

The sleeping space includes a twin room, and two double rooms. One of the double rooms has a en suite with a shower and sink. The main shared bathroom offers a large walk in shower, sink and loo.

There is also small utility room with a washing machine off the hall and great wifi in the property.

The property is in a shared tenement on the first floor. There is one flight of stairs to get into the property.

Neighbourhood:

Broughton Street is in a residential area and is very popular with Edinburgh locals. It is moments from the heart of the city but has its own selection of great restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.

Getting Around:

The Airport tram stops at the top of the street, where Broughton Street meets York Place making transport to the airport very easy!

There are also buses that run up Broughton Street or from York Place you can get buses across the city.

The Edinburgh Bus Station is about a 5 min walk away on Elder Street/ St Andrews Square.

Waverley Train Station, which has regular trains across Scotland and also South of the border (around 4 hours to London) is about a 10-15min walk away.

If you are thinking of bringing a car to Edinburgh, we would suggest you don't. This is a city to explore on foot. However if you do drive, you can park for free on some of the streets surrounding Broughton Street from 5.30/6.30pm Friday- Monday 8/8.30am. You can also park in the evening for free. At other times there are restrictions in place, or pay and display is applicable. You need to check the signs on street as traffic wardens are everywhere in Edinburgh.

Park and Ride is a good option for the city.

Beautiful apartment in a great neighborhood.
The rooms all have large beautiful windows and we appreciated all the day light. It is a relatively quiet neighborhood with many shops and dining options. The apartment had a well stocked kitchen and there is a food market right next to the building which was so convenient. We were in the apartment for 9 days during the Fringe which was wonderful.

A nightmare to book, a disappointing flat
Re the flat: Pros: Clean; great location. Cons: It does not have “two full baths” as stated. There is 1 toilet in the flat. We were 6 adults – *one* toilet. (“Shower room” has only tiny sink & small shower) - both showers have @17 inch max opening. Washer is in the hall closet w/heavy autoclose door that has to be held open w/your body while loading & unloading the washer. Before you can do that, the closet has to be emptied of mops, buckets, canister vac, drying rack, ironing board bc they block access to the washer. Nowhere to put these things but the hall, where they block access to the front door & bedrms. Poor quality linens & @70% of fixtures/furnishings are Ikea. Now I like Ikea which is why I recognize the stuff but we’re not talking about high-end furnishings here – this is not a well appointed luxury flat. Re the host BHH: A lot of trouble making the booking, made worse by repeated crickets when I asked for info/assistance. Finally got a booking in place & was told that 30 days before arrival I’d get check-in info, instr for final pmt, etc. No info by 25 days out, so emailed– then got an auto “away on vacation” reply w/no other POC. Left a voice msg asking she contact me as soon as she was back in the office. She did not. Had to chase her down daily for most of the wk after she got back (now our arrival was @2 weeks away) – no ack from her that she dropped the ball, or any sense of urgency to finalize the booking as should have been done before her vacation.

Wonderful Place to Stay
The apartment was as pretty as its pictures. It is in an old building so there were creaky, not quite level floors but that soon became a part of its charm. The location was perfect for exploring both Old Town and the New Town. We could walk to any of the major sights in less than half an hour. The neighborhood itself was hip and urban without being too busy, with virtually no tourists. There must have been more than a dozen small restaurants, pubs, and take-outs within a five-minute walk.

Lovely VRBO
Six night stay in this lovely apartment. Wonderful location with market just three doors up the street and plenty of restaurants. Comfortable beds. Local bands on Friday night, but quiet nights otherwise. Prompt response from host. We very much enjoyed our stay!
