Peaceful, comfortable Cape Cod house close to the shore

We love our house. We have been going to this house on the Cape for 35 years and would like to share it with you. Located on a quiet, shady, sand road. Great for relaxing, reading, listening to quiet music, playing croquet, picnicking, etc. When you do decide to venture out, there are lots of close options such as the National Seashore beaches, the bay beaches, the Massachusetts Audubon Society trails, the Cape Cod Rail Trail, hiking trails, shopping, miniature golf, the local drive-in movie, a Cape Cod Baseball game and lots more. Close to the regional high school and lower cape conference centers.

This single-story house has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, kitchen and a family room/dining area. The kitchen is fully-equipped and has a dishwasher. There is a washing machine and dryer in the basement. An outdoor shower and a detached garage are helpful additions. For hot summer days, the house has central air conditioning.

At the bay beach, a half mile away and a nice after-dinner walk, the sunsets are spectacular. Each one is unique and it's a treat to watch the sun set over the water. Also, if you are up early enough, you can drive or bike over to the National Seashore and watch the sun rise over the ocean and then head to the local coffee shop for your morning coffee.

Great for visiting therapy and education professionals attending Eastham summer symposia.

Simple and Perfect

We loved this house. It was very spacious and clean. We spent the majority of our time on the screened porch. It was very close to the bay which made our stay that much better. We highly recommend this home.

Lovely Cape Trip

We had an amazing long weekend at this cozy cottage. It was extremely clean and had everything you might need. The kitchen was recently renovated and it’s beautiful. We loved the bay beach that’s about a half mile away. The outdoor shower when we came back from beach was wonderful and we enjoyed the backyard. We would love to return here!

Disappointing, dark, and too dirty

Given the care of all other houses in the neighborhood, the extremely dirty façade of this house, the lack of upkeep to its surroundings and the misrepresentation of both the safety and basic cleanliness of the bikes and cobweb- covered-apparently-leftover-garage-sale sporting equipment in the garage really are misleading. The owner requires that you only use the back entrance because the front door is covered in two inches of grime and the side entrance is rusted shut. The kitchen, roof and bathroom are all recently remodelled and look like they belong in a totally different house. The living room is extremely dark with only two dimly lit lamps and almost four square feet of space taken up by a record-playing console and records you can't play because the record player broke years ago. The furninture is also crowded into the living room with a very long tablecloth hanging over a much smaller table that is backed into a wall. There is no room for it so why have it? It only makes the living room feel as if the owners are using part of the cottage to store old stuff they have simply not wanted to get rid of or move. Do not try to shift the gears on any of the bikes and whatever you do, do NOT use the bright yellow one for women: the chain pops off at any time and it is dangerous to use. That the owner makes a lot of renters' access to these bikes, the dirty croquet set (which I cleaned) and the netless, mildewy badminton set sets expectations that they will provide pleasure and be safe to use. Neither proved true. Expectations of this type are easily and quickly dashed. The owner also expects you to do a lot of work, cleaning and purchasing of everything that you might use. This might be okay if she were talking about oregano but she proudly confirms in writing that you are due only one roll of toilet paper and one roll of paper towels. So, if you are staying for 9 nights as I was, you have to shop. The first item on the check-out list is "Finish cleaning the cottage." Since the family room to the side of the kitchen is bright and retro, one sees the thin layer of dust that covers the books, book shelf, seating and lamps. It is disconcerting to discover that one has to pay a very high cleaning fee, although parts of the cottage/garage and bikes all need cleaning. The kitchen was also dotted with ant traps, stuck to the floor every two to three feet. Why not get regular extermination service? Why not powerwash the house? INVEST, please, in basics!

VRBO at Eaast Chatham

The property was very clean. Kitchen was updated and had all we required. A/C unit was noisy and kept coming on and off like it just wouldn't start. Had to turn it off at night. The area lost power our last night from 5-8pm and then again from 10pm to 8am. The power company Eversource in that area is not very good. Neighborhood was quiet. Those we talked to were very nice. Pretty good location overall.

Weekend wedding

The night we arrived it was pouring rain and it was pitch black so couldn’t see the back door which was to be used to get into the house. Fortunately we stayed with a relative that night because we couldn’t get into the rental. Beth was kind enough to refund our first night’s stay. We greatly appreciated her kindness. We felt it was the perfect location for our weekend. The bed was comfortable and we had plenty of space.

Quaint Beach Cottage

This beach cottage was just as charming and cozy as my husband and I had anticipated as we dreamed of our first trip to the Northeast and specifically Cape Cod. The home was clean and the host was so gracious and responsive. One thing I would recommend is to ensure you request the general house information document from the host prior to your departure. This document had a lot of key information about the home and guest expectations that I wish I had requested sooner. Otherwise, such a lovely home and gracious host!

House was very clean. The house has updated kitchen and bathroom and adds to the charm. Easy walk to the beach where beautiful sunsets can be watched. We had some rainy days and having a large table to work on puzzles was great we bought our own but there are some challenging ones there and all pieces counted for!! So many beaches close by

Pleasant and spacious

Overall very nice house and enjoyable stay. I didn't see the washer and dryer so assumed there was not one until I read through the paperwork, it was a bit of detective work to find the key and unlock the "trap" doors outside of the house leading to the basement, and steep steps going down. Only 1 roll of toilet paper in the house.

Great family spot

We’ve been here twice and plan to come again. Good location, well stocked kitchen, kid and adult bikes, beach toys/inner tubes, and A/C. We can spread out in the different rooms. We could use the outdoor shower a bit after checkout to extend time in the water. Easy walk or bike ride to the beach for sunsets.

Location is just perfect, near public beach and not too far from National Seashore beaches. House was super-clean and had all we needed. Even had the chance to see a tortoise on the porch on the first day. Recommended !

Wonderful cottage close to beaches and attractions

We came from Connecticut to spend the Memorial Day Weekend with our 13 year old daughter. This was our first time ever on the Cape. We enjoyed every minute of it! The house is great- exactly as posted and described and very clean and well equipped and everything is in working order. Kitchen and bathroom super good and clean and spacious. Nice family room and living room and two really nicely sized bedrooms. The owners are very easy to communicate with! The house is really in walking distance to the beach (easy walk no more than 10 minutes) which is really a very nice beach with opportunities for long walks. The neighborhood is safe and quiet and peaceful and clean. Ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle. We loved every minute of our stay and we will back for sure. Highly recommended- you can’t go wrong with this house and the location. Close to restaurants and close to National Seashore and other attractions such as whale watching.

Eastham/Wellfleet - Lovely private house

Lovely house, nicely renovated kitchen and bath, very comfortable for our family. Walkable to Sunken Meadow Beach for beautiful sunsets. Easy drives to ocean beaches, lobster pounds, and the drive-in! Beth was the perfect host. Will look forward to another visit.

Home away from home

The quintessential New Englander salt box cape-style home was a peaceful respite only a short skip to plenty of beaches. We booked here because you never know what Mother Nature would bring and wanted to relax in a place with all the comforts of home and plenty of good music, board games, books, etc. to enjoy should the weather take a turn for the worse. However, the weather was spectacular and we spent little time in the home, but when we did, we had all we needed for hearty cooking on site and LOTS of great suggestions from the host to make our trip one of the most memorable vacations we've had as a family of three. We'd definitely return. Thanks to our hosts for making our stay feel like home!

Perfect Beach Vacation

We want to thank Beth for allowing us to stay at the perfect Cape house. A beautiful updated kitchen, a nice family room and the perfect sunroom to relax with our morning coffee, a book or a family game night! We had the most wonderful time in this perfect house!

Cutest bungalow

Loved the location, perfectly in between Chatham and Provincetown and short drive to beautiful beach and lighthouse. The house is very clean and felt very safe. Does not come with any bedsheets or linens, which is kind of a bummer when you’re flying in from afar and trying to pack light but otherwise no complaints!
