Indian Point Manor was named after the Indian statue at the SW corner of the property overlooking Catfish Lake. The property was originally built by former Chicago Mayor Edward Kelly in 1929. The mayor and his wife carefully and meticulously planned the property to include such items as a projection room for the theater, a two boat wet boathouse, a great room with 31’ cathedral ceilings and a carriage house above the garage for his security detail.
The main residence is a massive 9 bedroom house with modern updates and a rich history. Comprised of two levels of stunning architecture and luxurious comforts, the entire home is bathed in warm light from wall to ceiling. The great room is the central hub of the home with 31’ cathedral ceiling, huge stone fireplace, piano, adjustable seating arrangements with large LOVESAC couch and state of the art 85” TV with theater sound. Relax and play board games, enjoy a fire in the wood fireplace or have a movie night. Does your group have talent? Use the 1920’s finely tuned grand piano to belt out some songs or have a dance party with the tremendous surround sound system. At the end of the night relax on the couch and marvel at the petroglyphs carved into the Great Room walls.
The kitchen in the main residence is the perfect amalgamate of old world charm and modern convenience! The kitchen has been meticulously rehabbed to provide a gourmet cooking experience with a Wolf double stove, new counter tops for plenty of prep space and wall to ceiling cabinetry appointed with everything you’ll need to impress your guests with your culinary skills. The space features a custom walnut island and the original 1930’s GE refrigerator that’s been updated with the latest refrigeration components. There is one dishwasher in the kitchen, and a second dishwasher conveniently located in the attached coffee bar area. There is also a more informal dining area with seating for 8 guests, full tableware and serving settings are provided for up to 48 people.
The carriage house is conveniently located directly behind the main house, with two bedrooms, one bath and sleeping accommodations for 6 guests. The bedrooms include one King bed and two full beds. The house has been fully remodeled to provide a cozy, modern kitchen and living room area. Guests can take advantage of the privacy or cook on their own and enjoy a quiet night on Catfish Lake.
On the southern side of the property, Indian Point Cottage is tucked into the pine tree canopy. This newly renovated house overlooks the Tennis court at Indian Point and is a short walk from the Main House. The two bedroom, single bath residence provides a King sized bed and two full beds with the ability to sleep up to 6. A full Kitchen and open concept floor plan provides a great view of custom stone fireplace, sure to keep everyone warm in the winter.
The estate grounds include a boat house with an upper level game room, a private lookout over the lake and a full sized tennis court. An outdoor fire pit and grilling area are also located next to the main house among the meticulously groomed yard.
