Our cottage is located on Straggle Lake in Harcourt Park, nestled at the southern point of Algonquin Park in the Haliburton Highlands.
The cottage has a great view, southern exposure, and good swimming at the dock.
Whether you choose to relax on the dock, go for a swim, enjoy the view from the deck, fish, use the 2 pedal boats, 2 kayaks or row boat, go for a hike, or enjoy some of the family friendly events run at the Harcourt Park Community Centre, you will enjoy your time here.
The Hazenberg Hideaway is your opportunity to experience Big Straggle Lake’s year-round fishing, great swimming, and general exploration in one of our five boats. At your disposal, are a rowboat, two kayaks, and two pedal boats (one 2-person and one 5-person) that you may use to explore the lake, several islands, and even a hidden passageway to Little Straggle Lake. Our docks are large enough for sunning yourself on hot days or just hanging out with friends on the Muskoka chairs. There is a fire pit overlooking the lake with plenty of seating to host your group (and there should be a moderate amount of firewood at the ready), and a grassy area beside the cottage on which lawn games can be enjoyed, or time spent at the picnic table. We have a full size kitchen with a double sink, microwave, stove/oven, full-sized fridge, and BBQ (with extra propane tanks) for you to use. At your disposal are also many other personal appliances such as a coffee maker, toaster, Actifry (alternative to deep-fryer), George Foreman grill, electric kettle, and blender. There is plenty of storage space for whatever you bring up as well. The living room has a 50’ HD widescreen plasma TV, DVD player, and VCR. There is a small TV, DVD player, and VCR in the kids’ bunkbed room as well. We have satellite TV, lots of VHS tapes, and a few DVDs to watch; books to read; games to play; and even a classic Nintendo Entertainment System, should you find yourself stuck inside on a rainy day, or need something to do in the evening. In the living room, there is a wood-burning stove to which you may curl up, after you build yourself a fire in the evening. And yes, we have unlimited high-speed wi-fi.
