The Krujë Castle was the fortress that helped George Kastrioti Skanderbeg defend Albania from the Ottoman troops that attacked it three times, in 1450, 1466 and 1467, but failed each time.

Not only did Skanderberg stop the Ottomans from taking control of Albania, but maybe stopped them from controlling all of Europe.

The castle museum is one of the better we have visited. Definitely worth the visit and the shopping streets below the castle are a treat to walk through.

"The hotel Bellavista was very nice, the room 105 was clean and comfortable with modern features such as electic blinds on the patio ,thehotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The seafood linguini was to die for.Only a short stride to the nice sandy beach withfreesunbeds,although the beach was good sand therewere lots of cigarette buts .Lots of restaurants nearby and all verycheap prices itshard to spend over 30euros for a meal for2 people including wine.The only down side was we paoid...

"We really enjoyed our stay at the sunrise hotel. We were looked after well by our hosts and breakfast was excellent. Our room was clean and we were close to many restaurants and shops. TBH I was not sure how we would find Albania but I would definitely recommend taking the time to come here. Lots to see in Durres, we were here before the main season but the advantage is that it's a bit cooler. A lovely surprise was the gift from the hotel owners when we checked out. Thanks so much."

"I recently enjoyed an amazing four-night stay at this hotel, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, the staff, especially at the reception, were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The swimming pool and private beach exceeded my expectations, providing a perfect oasis for relaxation and fun. To top it off, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a full sea view room in celebration of my brother's birthday, complete with a lovely fruit platter as a welcome gesture....

"Clean and comfortable hotel with a lovely pool. Great shower and comfy bed. Great location to walk to Abaia vineyard where we did wine tasting and had lunch which was delicious. We had a couple issues with the rooms and the staff were really helpful to try to get the issue resolved. The fridge wasn’t working in our first room so they quickly moved us to an alternative but then the balcony door wouldn’t open in the second room. They ended up giving us access to both rooms. "

"Nice hotel. But weird in that at reception it said check in at the hotel across the road and for breakfast. I had a room on the 1st floor, but on the 2nd floor it seemed the people who looked after the hotel stayed. I don't know if the 2nd floor was open plan, but all you could hear was the baby, mother & grandmother all the time. It was silent at night though. Room and facilities including the bed were superb. Just the carers of the place made a racket."
