We had 7 adults stay for a little under a week in July. The location was great for us (closer to Silverton than Durango), and the cabin was outfitted with most everything you’d hope to have at a VRBO. We enjoyed the deck and hot tub, kitchen with plenty of seating, and hiking in the area. Highly recommend!
Stayed with a group of friends for a few days in the summer. The property is in an incredibly beautiful spot and had everything we needed to enjoy our time there as a relatively large group of 13. Management was very responsive to our questions. Would stay again if in the area.
We had a minor problem with some wasps; can’t be helped, nature does what nature does. Property management responded quickly amd resolved the problem.
Some comments about the property itself, it is truly beautiful. Hot tub was great for a large family, theater room was great fun. There is a pond very nearby that’s gorgeous, but don’t forget bug spray. :)

awesome house, awesome location, needs a little TLC and cleaning
this place was really great for a family vacation... had everything we needed/wanted... I would just say that the house has clearly been used a ton and could use a little refreshing... deck is really worn out and needs stain/seal, fire pit area had trash laying around, there are a lot of areas in the house that could use dusting/cleaning.. but overall it's a really great property... finally, the property managers are very strict and the rules/instructions seem almost like they assume you will treat the place horribly and are scolding you before you even have a chance...
This house served as home base for a family reunion with 11 total people. The arrangement of bedrooms/baths for 3 different families worked great. We found it to be very clean. We especially appreciated the large and very well supplied kitchen. We cooked and grilled nearly all of our meals and had plenty of refrigerator and prep space. We ate every meal out on the deck as there was ample seating outside for 12. The view off the deck was beautiful. There was no AC, but fans were in each bedroom to pull the cool air through the room in the evening/night. The property is very private with no neighbors in the immediate proximity. The lake off the back contains no fish, but is a tranquil, beautiful place to relax. The hot tub was clean and the perfect meeting spot for the 5 teenage cousins after very full days. We spent our time at Haviland Lake, Purgatory, Durango and Silverton and was in great proximity to all. Hope to be able to stay here again for the next reunion.

Not what we expected
We were so excited to stay at this house but when we actually arrived our excitement disappeared pretty fast. The garage is too small for a full size SUV so we had to leave our car outside. It was 5F when we arrived. The fridge smelled so bad we didn't want to use it at all. It was hot on the main floor but it was freezing on the second floor where all of the bedrooms are located. We had a 4 year old with us so we had to use all the blankets we had plus the once we have brought with us. We rented this house for 4 nights but left after 3 because of how cold this house was. There is no cell phone connection at all. Oh and in case you have to get up in the middle of the night you will wake the whole house up because of the squicking floors. They said there will be coffee filters but we didn't find any. The only good thing about this property is the location and the views outside , they were gorgeous. We were dissatisfied with our stay and the amount of money we paid for this place.
This property is in a stunning area and is beautifully laid out. We found the home to be very well furnished and equipped and stocked with everything we needed. It was very tidy and very welcoming. It's easy to feel at home. The deck with hot tub and fire pit is an awesome place to relax and spend time.
The kitchen is well decorated and designed and easy for preparing meals. The master bedroom with loft ceiling is spacious and has a warm feeling.
There is plenty of bandwidth for internet and TV viewing. The satellite has plenty of selections and there are televisions in a large number of the rooms.
There is a path down to the lake through some lovely wildflowers and grasses. The path was well done with large steps.
Loved this place and wish it was mine.
Loved the location and the views. Was close to skiing and the property was lovely. The home needs some TLC. No ping pong table as advertised. No WI-FI. No microwave. Tons of dead flies everyday. Holes in the sheets. Gross clumps of hair on the shower walls. Great outdoor space and the hot tub had an amazing view. I think this place could be amazing if someone came in and paid a little attention to details.
We wanted a winter wonderland in the mountains for Christmas and that’s exactly what we got with this property! The views are amazing & the house is so accommodating for a big group. 10/10 recommend and will be staying at this property again if in the area!
The place is beautiful and we loved the location. However, there were a few issues that came up:
1) the stairs are narrow and insanely slippery. I slipped in my socks and literally slid down the lower landing. They make a big deal about not wearing anything on you feet but my advice is forget this or bring slippers. I left a note advising them to put non-slip on the steps but since no one in management even acknowledged this happened, I am not optimistic. Just be careful if you're there.
2) the dishwasher leaked. now we stopped it and soaked up the water but we were down to hand washing. Management did not seem surprised or even concerned so it may be an ongoing issue? I don't know.
3) the second floor appears to be a single layer of floor boards butted up against each other. The charm wore off very quickly due to the squeaking and absolute lack of sound insulation. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of.
We had a great time at this property. It is in a perfect location between Durango and Silverton. There are amazing views from the deck. We didn’t have any issues with the property as it had everything we needed for the week.
This house was WONDERFUL and we loved every minute of it. We came early part of June and the weather was amazing! We've decided when we return, we need to stay a day or two longer. We've stayed in many VRBO's and this home paid attention to all details. It was well stocked. We LOVED our time on the porch playing games, eating, and just enjoying the weather and scenery. We enjoyed fires at night, sitting around the kitchen island, and just relaxing all the way around. It was in a perfect location halfway between Durango and Silverton. Best of both worlds. Highly recommend....thank you.
This was the first time we have had a family vacation with our daughter-in-law and son-in-law and grandkids included. None of us had to been to this area before but we knew with Covid going on, we wanted to stay in a house together instead of a hotel. I'm going to list all pros and cons.
Pros:
*This was a perfect location being halfway between Durango and Silverton.
*I loved how it was easily accessible but you felt like you were in the middle of the mountains with no one around you.
*Absolutely, hands down the most beautiful deck. Perfect for everyone to gather and enjoy the environment surrounding the home.
*I loved the arrangement of the kitchen and living room and the ability for a large family like ours to all sit in the kitchen together.
*The kitchen was very well stocked and so was the rest of the house as far as bedding, towels, and toilet paper.
*The hosts were excellent at getting back with us. They were also very helpful with any questions I had about the area.
*The chipmunks were a highlight of our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed them and the abundance of hummingbirds on the deck.
*After a long day of riding trails, we were able to come back to the house and relax. If the mosquitoes got too annoying, we would go to the basement to the movie room and enjoyed each other's company while watching shows. It was awesome!
Cons:
*Our bedrooms reeked of moth balls. I understand that there is an issue with moths and something had to be done, but I have a very sensitive nose and it was difficult for me to sleep for a couple of days. I've never checked into it before but wish there was an alternative.
*The hot tub was broken. :( Again, I totally understand how these things happen. It was just really sad because EVERYONE was really looking forward to that part of the house. The part didn't come in before we left so we didn't get to use it.
None of these things were deal breakers for us. We really did enjoy our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
We enjoyed our stay with the exception of one major thing. There were mouse traps everywhere and my 4 year old snapped his finger in one causing major pain, possibly a broken finger, and a whole lot of distress. Seeking medical attention when we get home. The owners did not tell us about these otherwise I would have made sure the kids weren’t playing anywhere near them. I also think these should have been removed prior to a guests arrival as they’re disgusting and make you question the cleanliness of the property. Understood it’s a cabin on a mountain and critters are abundant but still. Should have been conveyed to us or removed ahead of time. Not happy about that oversight at all.
Great location. It appears as if rules and check out process is used by property manager. If you e xpect us to deal with garbage and take it to a dumpster then there should be one. I don't want to have to figure out if instructions apply to me or not. If the instructions are in the book then they should apply.
We had an issue with water heater lines freezing but the property management team was able to fix it and was understanding.

Great location
The location to Purgatory was awesome. The home could be amazing. We were there for 5 days over Christmas and found the cookware was lacking, there was no cleaning products, nothing to scrub dishes with or trash bags, the cabinet doors were kept closed with hair types, there were mouse and rat traps exposed in every room (we had small children with us, so it was a hazard), there was ice covering the deck and driveway. After check out, I inquired about the high damage deposit and was told I was going to be charged for 2 hrs of additional cleaning and sent pictures of a hand full of odds and ends (a pair of socks and present tags), unvacuumed carpet, dirty linens left in the floor of the laundry room and blanket that was ruined but not by us. We found the blanket stuffed in a cupboard when we were looking for spare linens. So, that is really frustrating. Also, they charge a high “exit cleaning fee”, so to be charged for picking up a few extra things is ridiculous. The property has potential but it needs a deep cleaning, some basic maintenance, a decent set of cookware and some restocking. Location was awesome, view was amazing.
This home offers a truly magical getaway spot for a large group! The kitchen is absolutely perfect for cooking, eating, or playing games. The cabin was clean, with an easy check-in and out process. There were even sleds in the garage. The best parts was the beautiful experience in the hot tub in the snow. The property manager was easy to contact and kept us up to date on the incoming storm. Great rental! We will be back!
