We just completed a 3 night stay in the Edwin Hewitt room and really enjoyed it. We usually stay in Canal Park, so staying here provided a perfect change of scenery. Lots of beautiful mansions in the surrounding Congdon neighborhood made for enjoyable walks. The Salyards Mansion is chock full of character, with many preserved features from its era: a large entry hall & grand staircase, hardwood floors throughout, beautiful fireplaces, many windows, comfortable furniture. Our room was spacious and included two large chairs, a table and chairs, fireplace & large bed--plenty of space for two people. The bathroom had a great clawfoot tub, pedestal sink, and the original floor tile--it all felt like a step back in time. Our only suggestion is to get a new, better mattress, as the current one is not very comfortable. We enjoyed the coffee & scones each morning. The home was quiet, peaceful and a truly lovely way to spend three days. The caretaker, Tanner, was a very gracious host!
