Comfortable hotel in glorious Location
We visited in second week of October. Season on island had finished at that stage so other restaurants and bars on island had closed. Hotel bar and restaurant were the only places open. However the food in the hotel was good enough and eating there for a week proved to be fine. Very quiet at that time of year but definitely a sense of getting away from it all.

Quiet island beach getaway
Only 30 mins by frequent ferry from Dubrovnik. Charming quiet spot by sandy beach. Hotel food only average (lots of half baord) and little other choice nearby, but you can't have everything at these great rates. Two nights is enough.

Haven of calm
The location is perfect - close enough to Dubrovnik, but at the same time, feeling like a remote island hideaway. A great place for untroubled unwinding and relaxation. As well as the hotel, with it's open air restaurant terrace, peaceful swimming pool and private beach, you also have the benefit of being able to walk around the lovely island as well. A hugely relaxing and restful holiday destination, with pleasant and obliging staff.

Beautiful Island peaceful hotel but lots of steps
Beautiful Island close to Dubrovnik, cheap and easy to island hop to Lupud, Sipan and back to Dubrovnik. It is the only Hotel on the Island but there are also Villas that can be rented. Even though we travelled just after summer Holidays ( arrived 11th Sept ) One of the Resraurants next to the harbour Villa Lovor was already shut and the Villa Ruza was closed on the thursday and friday due to the weather (thunder storms) and on the Saturday was hosting a wedding, additionally on the days it was open it was only for dinner and they wanted a reservation. Limiting dinning options to the hotel or walk to the other village where we had a lovely lunch at the little beach side restaurant, we were not half board so chose meals from the menu, which were ok, the buffet half board did not appeal, looked and felt like school dinners, breakfast also ok not much fresh fruit and only varient was the vegatables on offer i.e. sprouts, aubergine, broccili, cauliflower. We did go to Villa Ruza on the Sunday and the meal was delicious. One word of warning the hotel is built into the hillside in 8 blocks and there are lots of steps and no lifts, on the night we arrived we were escorted to an appartment in block 5 and on the 3rd floor this was the furthest appartment, fortunately it was only a twin and we had booked a family room I went back to the reception and we were moved immediatley to a room in block 2. Lovely pool and beach to sit around when weather good not much to do when weather bad.

Beautiful Island.
The Hotel is comfortable and clean but it’s the location that really makes this place special. Kolocep island is a beautiful place, which I can't recommend enough. It's a great place to relax either on the beach just in front of the hotel or at the harbour side bar simply watching the fishing boats and ferries come in and out. As Hotel Villas Kolocep is on an island don't forget you need to factor the timetable of the ferry (they show it on the hotels website). It takes a minimum of 30 min to get to port gruz from the airport plus collecting luggage and passport control time so plan your journey otherwise you may have to catch a much more expensive taxi boat (call the hotel and they will send it). This place is worth the extra hassle (Although if you feeling flush you can pre-hire the taxi boat any time of day and not wait for ferries) as it’s certainly among the most pretty islands I've seen.

Great Hotel
The rooms are in villa blocks seperate from the hotel which was quite nice, we had a wonderful sea view which I never tired of looking out of. Reception and waiting staff were all very helpful and courteous. We dined a couple times in teh evening, once at the buffet and a second time off teh a lacarte menu, both time food was good. Overall a very good hotel to stay at.

Picturesque & peaceful, but.......
My husband, son and I have just arrived back from spending one week in Hotel Kolocep. We found the hotel staff very helpful in fulfilling our requests:- We asked for adjoining rooms, facing the bay and then, at the last minute, requested rooms to be fairly accessable, as we were aware that there may be several levels and I had injured my foot. The island was picturesque and peaceful, although we were glad to stay only one week, as it was too quiet for a longer stay. The hotel food was also a bit basic at the best of times - the buffet breakfast was fine, but didnot require broccolli, courgettes or sprouts to be served! Apart from the hotel, there was only 1 taverna, a bar (stick to beer, don't order cocktails) and a small mini market. Also Villa Rusa, which is great, expensive and totally out of place. However, the mainland is only 20 minutes away by ferry, then a quick bus or taxi ride to Dubrovnik. The island of Lopud is about 20 minutes in the opposite direction by ferry and it had quite a bit more to offer in the way of shops, bars and places to eat. The potential for the island is great, a couple of more bars and tavernas, a bit of investment and it would be a real hit!

Great hotel for a family
We just came back from a lovely 5 days at Villas Kolocep, What is there not to like? It all starts with a 30 minute boat trip from the port of Dubrovnik on the utterly romantic Postira, a ship straight out of a Tin-tin story. Passengers are being met by hotel staff and luggage will be driven on to the hotel on a golf cart. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk away, along the beach. Staff is really helpful, friendly and make you feel very welcome. The island is small and quiet and coming from London, that's a blessing. There is a lovely restaurant near the port, and another one on the other side of the bay and a 3rd restaurant (a superb fish restaurant, you need to book and the receptionists will phone them for you) half an hour walk away across the island and it's all very idyllic. Our kids loved it. There is a sandy beach, they easily make friends with other kids, there are no cars but you can rent kayaks to peddle to the blue cave or around the island (takes 4 hours). The room is spacious, the beds comfortable and the only cash machine on the island is in the hotel. After 2 days you forget about the rest of the world. We travelled with 2 young kids (age 5 and 8) and they had a great time, they met some other kids, we met their parents. The lobby has a small library of books left behind by other guests. The views are great and with Swiss precision the Postira connects the island with the main land and neighboring islands. We had a great time and planning to go back next year.

Great little hotel for a short stay
Staff are excellent - friendly and attentive. Rooms are tiny but clean and adequate. Ensuite is really small and definately 3 star max. Menu not brilliant but again, if you are not staying too long then its acceptable. The only really dissapointing aspect was the pool and beach areas - the sun loungers had no cushions and therefore became really uncomfortable after a short time and many of the parrasols were broken due to sea breezes which you had to pay the hotel to use both these items if you wanted to lie on the beach. Overall, a nice place for a short stay.

Kolocep hotel
A great hotel on the island of Kolocep. The hotel does exactly what it says on the tin - provides a nice place to stay on a beautifully small island. Good room (we stayed in a room in Villa 2 which overlooked the bay). Had a lovely pool with sunloungers and unbrellas (beware the bed hoggers with their towels) and a beach right outside the hotel. Food was resonably priced at the hotel, but if you can do go to the restaurant on the end of the island as it is amazing.

It's on an Island
The resort is very nice, but it is on an island. If you do not plan on exploring Dubrovnik, and want to sit on the beach this is a great location. Getting to the island is either by ferry, or water taxi. The ferry is on a fixed schedule and the schedule is not great for exploring Dubrovnik. The water taxi you can reserve a better time, but it is pricey. Otherwise the hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was always helpful.

Great stay
The staff were friendly at all times, even though they were very busy. The food was good and there were a range of options. There are no lifts in the apartment blocks so this may not be convenient for all. The island is unspoilt and there are several walking tracks (bring good shoes to walk in). Kolocep was relaxing and peaceful and not overcrowded. I would definitely go back.

A good base from which to explore...
Overall, I'd say this hotel was 'fine'. Its not luxury, but its certainly not bad. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is generally ok, though I would recommend walking down to Villa Ruza whenever your wallet would allow. More important here is the location. Kolocep is a beautiful island and having visited Lopud and Sipan, I'm glad we were here. It feels unspoilt and there is loads to do on the island and within easy travelling distance.

Very relaxing stay
We really enjoyed our stay here. We were in the hotel for 7 nights which was perfect. I would not recommend to stay much longer than this. The only issue here was the food - the dinner selection wasn't great so we ended up going into Dubrovnik 3 out of the 7 nights. Room cleanliness was excellent and staff were very friendly. Overall a great spot for a relaxing short holiday.

Great place for a quiet and relaxing holiday
We had an excellent experience there, and the only comment I have is that some of the reception staff could have been a little more helpful. However, it's only a very minor comment. We would also have liked to go on one of the guided kayaking tours, but any time we came to ask there was no-one there, and the reception staff did not seem to know anything about it. Otherwise, excellent.

Great place to relax
We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Villas Kolocep which is on the island of Kolocep just 30 minutes boat ride from the old walled city of Dubrovnik. We visited in the middle of July when it was very hot (over 30 degrees C everyday!). We welcomed the air conditioning in the room. The beach and pool were also useful places to cool down! Kolocep is a small island that seemed to attract a lot of families as well as a few couples looking for a quiet place to relax. There is not a huge amount to do on the island - but Dubrovnik is not far. The only draw back is that unless you arranged a water taxi through the hotel, the last boat back to the island left Dubrovnik at 8pm. I would therefore recommend if you want to properly see Dubrovnik, spend a couple of nights in a hotel actually on the mainland and then come out to the lovely Kolocep to chill and relax. Everything was very pleasant about the hotel, apart from the coffee at breakfast - but the bar 2 mins down the road did amazing coffee, so don't panic if you need your regular fix!

Idyllic island get away
We have just spent 1 week at this hotel and I cannot say enough good things about our stay. The island is absolutely perfect for a really relaxing and stress-free break. The hotel was super clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant was good. We did not have the half board package but often chose to eat dinner at the hotel anyway. The breakfasts were excellent. As the island is so small there is not a vast choice of restaurants but those there are were good. We walked a lot and explored the island, finding some amazing little bays with crystal clear water and hardly any people there. The hotel has a great pool and a sandy beach right at the entrance. Just one word of warning: if you have difficulty climbing steps, be sure to ask for a room in buildings 1 or 2. If you want a riotous night-life, this is probably not the place for you, but if you want a truly relaxing stay in an absolutely beautiful place, we have absolutely no reservations in recommending this hotel 100%.
