My husband, son and I have just arrived back from spending one week in Hotel Kolocep.
We found the hotel staff very helpful in fulfilling our requests:-
We asked for adjoining rooms, facing the bay and then, at the last minute, requested
rooms to be fairly accessable, as we were aware that there may be several levels and I had injured my foot.
The island was picturesque and peaceful, although we were glad to stay only one week, as it was too quiet for a longer stay. The hotel food was also a bit basic at the best of times - the buffet breakfast was fine, but didnot require broccolli, courgettes or sprouts to be served!
Apart from the hotel, there was only 1 taverna, a bar (stick to beer, don't order cocktails) and a small mini market. Also Villa Rusa, which is great, expensive and totally out of place.
However, the mainland is only 20 minutes away by ferry, then a quick bus or taxi ride to Dubrovnik. The island of Lopud is about 20 minutes in the opposite direction by ferry and it had quite a bit more to offer in the way of shops, bars and places to eat.
The potential for the island is great, a couple of more bars and tavernas, a bit of investment and it would be a real hit!
